Every time someone tells me that I should install some aftermarket upgrades on my CZ 75 SP-01 Tactical, like an expensive red dot rear sight, I tell them the truth. It shoots much better than I do right out of the box, and if I ever catch up, I'll consider upgrades. This is my favorite 9mm.
I started carrying the SP-01 around March, 2017 and continue to carry it. Prior to that I carried a Springfield 1911 Operator (with surefire x300U) and a Beretta 92FS going back to February of 2014. Prior to that, I carried an M&P9 Full-size (4.25" barrel) with Streamlight TLR1. All these were, and are, carried IWB. To date, the SP-01 is the gun I shoot the best. I love the CZ!
@@jaredcoleman9313 A Cheapo Uncle Mikes, but that ended quickly as I couldnt' find a holster that was equivalent to my Bladetechs or Bravo Concealment holsters for other pistols.
I'm a long time Sig lover, but discovered CZ's last year. They are amazing! The lower bore axis is an improvement on Sig and the quality is at the same level at half the price. Big time CZ fan now! Thanks for the great content!
One of the top 3 pistols I've ever owned. And I've got sigs, HKs, walthers, glocks, korths, etc. CZ SP01 tactical, German made P210, and p365 are my top 3.
Where have these true classics been I have owned or handled every design Glock 1911 and suddenly I was at a local shop I was looking at Sig's and next to the overpriced Sig's were a few CZ s I'm amazed at the entire design price and selection my money if I buy handguns will be spent with CZ-USA keep up the great work and prices are very welcome for anyone to truly enjoy a classic that in my experiences can't be beat shoot one any model then pick up a Glock enough said thanks CZ-USA for providing me the chance to own a REAL classic BIG T in KY
The CZ P-01(basically the compact version of this with an alloy frame) is by FAR my favorite carry pistol. I started shooting some competition when I was younger and started with what I THOUGHT I needed...a ridiculously expensive Infinity 2011. Times got a little tight so I sold it. I bought a barely shot Tangfoglio Limited for 1/4th the money(based on the CZ SP-01) and I've never looked back. I'm SURGICAL with it. You made an awesome choice because you get everything in that pistol to make it an absolute hot-rod if you want, and the upgrades are pretty plentiful. I encourage you to dig a little online and look at trigger packs and even directions on improving the trigger that aren't Cajun Gunworks Price Gouged. It makes a HUGE difference. A shorter and lighter all around trigger with a shorter reset is mandatory on that line of CZ's. Really great handgun man! Reliable. Accurate. Durable. Attractive looking. Ergonomic. What's not to Love???
The SP-01 is such an awesome, unique pistol. Put a little CGW love into it and it can easily go from 'great' to 'phenomenal.' Mine now has a 7lb DA pull and 3.5lb in SA mode. Also swapped out the stock trigger for the CZ 'old style' trigger that is far less curved. I keep coming back to my CZs because I shoot them better than anything else.
@@cdenton651 Then iI have a hard time believing it was a regular SP-01 - they ship with much heavier hammer springs than that. It could have been the SP-01 Shadow model? That's the competition version, and comes with much lower trigger weights.
I had a CZ 75 SP-01 Tac last year, and foolishly traded it for something else. My new one arrives today, and I could not be happier. Thanks for your review.
Love those CZ's and Big Johnson has one heck of a collection of em so kudos to him....Good detailed informative vid and some fun ranget time with good grouping....Good stuff....
KS...Once again great job...picked up a SP 01 (with safety)...2 weeks ago...excellent pistol...very very accurate and the damn thing just eats up a recoil..very happy with purchase...now the problem is I want the P01 now!...lol
I had one of these and loved it... didn't love the trigger reset spring..broke 2 OEM and finally installed a CGW spring. One of my buddies busted my chops until I finally sold it to him. I'm thinking of picking up the safety version or a CZP09. Though it'll most likely be the P09 since I've never had one.
Ks...i have this gun in urban grey suppressed tactical...it eats up recoil...very accurate!...should cost more than what it is...traded a Walther PPQ 5 INCH target for it......WINNING!!
Love the CZ's I am a huge CZ fanboy have the SP-01, CZ 75 Compact PCR and the 2075 RAMI all in 9MM. I have done Cajun Gun Works as well as do the gunsmithing my self. The CZ's are IMO one of the best if not the best firearms to own. I do own a Glock too and it's in a different category. I dig my Glock too and love all the firearms I own. The CZ's I love a little more. Awesome video!
CJ Moore thank you very much CJ! I'm quickly jumping on the bandwagon and realizing how great CZs are. Fine craftsmanship and really fun shooters. Nothing wrong with a glock either! Just put up a new vid on my G19 MOS. Thank you for the comment. Cheers brother!
I love the SP01. I just wish it also came in an aluminum frame (yeah there's the phantom but it's ugly and doesn't have interchangeable grips, and yeah there's the P01 but something about shrinking the CZ75 takes away from its lines and aesthetics).
I I enjoyed your review of the SP01 tactical. Not many reviews of this CZ. Mine is the same pistol, but it came from the CZ Custom shop. It has the aggressive aluminum grip panels, with the Custom Shop logo. That and the phenomenal trigger are the only indication. The trigger is at 7 pounds double action and 3.5 single. I think the Custom Shop version runs about $200 more. The ambi decocker is nice. The pistol came with a Custom Shop target. I don’t know how many shots they took, or the distance. There is one ragged 1.5 inch hole in the target.
Hey brother. I hope you're doing well. I found one of these for sale not too far down the road from me. I thought I remembered you doing a review, and sure enough I was right. I'm going to check into it tomorrow. Miss you buddy.
Thank you for this review, I just picked up the same gun but in gray finish with orange aluminum grips, can't wait to get it to the range! But this is something I have posted on so many gun review videos in the past, when you have such a light/bright background, and the gun only takes up a small amount of the image area, the camera automatically sets it's exposure for the WHOLE amount of light coming in to it, it has no idea what the subject is! And in this case, the camera adjusts itself for a proper exposure considering all that light background, making the "subject", the gun, dark and hard for us to see details in it. There are two ways around this..... One, zoom the camera in much closer to the gun, eliminating as much of that bright area in the background as possible. And two, use a darker background that more matches the brightness level of the gun. Experiment with these tips, play around with my suggestions, see how much better your videos turn out, how much more detail we can see in the gun you are showing!
I've got the P01 and really like it. I figured the extra weight and sight radius aren't that big of a help for me seeing as I usually scored in the bottom half of any competition I shoot. I think this pistol weight to much for SSP division so it is in limited or esp and there you are going up against about of tricked out glocks with 2.5lbs trigger. A nice gun for sure tho
Thanks for the comment and thoughts! I hear the P01 is awesome. It would be interesting to see a head to head against a similarly featured glock. Cheers!
I like the look of this pistol, and pretty much all of the CZ's. I've never shot this particular pistol either, but I do enjoy shooting my P07, and P09's. Thanks for another great video on another great gun.
fumasterchu12 thanks Fu! The p07 and p09 are great guns. If I had to choose, I'd probably keep my p07 and sell the sp01 simply for the fact that carrying it would be a bear. All great shooters though. CZ puts out a fantastic product. Cheers brother!
Welcome to the metal gun club! My Father, God rest his Soul: "Guns are supposed to made of metal."... "Craftsmanship is dying art."... "There's a reason certain guns are still around after 100 years. They WORK."..."What do you think is more reliable...plastic or metal?" Dad made sense. He also refused to own a cell phone and learn to send an email. He passed 2 years ago, God love him. ❤️ 🤣
Love my SP01 actually sold a P09 to get it, nothing wrong with the p09, just the whole proprietary mags thing. Since i have a PCR waiting for me i wanted to use 75 mags only. Great review, what kind of camera? The image quality on yours and 1776 videos is top notch.
Marqjosh thank you very much! Sounds like you've got the mag situation figured out for sure. I'm not sure what 1776 uses but I use Yi action cameras for everything. Cheers and thanks again!
KSGunGuy 01 You do a very great job on your channel...positive and professional. I appreciate reading all your comments on my channel as well...great work.
Bald&curious thanks for the comment Bald! Aside from the trigger, I really like it. Quite a departure from striker fired guns if nothing else. Cheers brother!
I really liked my Tactical, and so did one of my buddies.... busted my balls until I finally sold it to him.I'm either going to grab another sp01 with the safety so I can get a bit better trigger or I may pick up a P09.I really like the P09 ...lol.
For me, it's a toss up between the SP-01 and the P-07/09. Both are great but the P line is more geared for carry in my opinion. Either way, they are both amazing shooters. Cheers Cmax!
There is NO factory or assembly plant for CZ in Kansas City , Kansas. That is just a central warehouse in Kansas City, Kansas. It is a bad area of the city. Look up the address and take a trip there, nothing more than a warehouse.
Very different guns. The CZ is double single action, where as the Steyr is striker fired. The CZ is considerably heavier as well. For me, I prefer the CZs but Steyrs are fantastic as well. Thank you and cheers!
KSGunGuy you're welcome and I'm looking for first wunder 9 and your videos are helping out alot man really good quality my basis for pistols is my usp .45 liking the double action but striker fired has me interested to a certain poimt
Glad I can help! If you have the opportunity to rent at a range, I’d try and test out as many as possible to see what fits well and shoots straight for you. Keep me posted!
Thanks for the comment Iowa! Compared to the SXF... that's tough. I think the weight of the SP-01 is both an advantage and disadvantage depending on your use but if you are just plinking at the range, the SP-01 has it in spades. If you are competing, I'd say the Canik may be the better choice, especially since you can add the optic. The price is pretty great on the Canik as well. Tough to be those triggers on both! Cheers
