I recently took my father and little brother to IMO the nicest shooting facility in our area to get them at least comfortable with the basic fundamentals of handgun safety, marksmanship, and physics and trusted the rentals at the range as opposed to bringing my own guns this time. They were almost complete beginners. Long story short out of 3 handguns I rented, one was the CZ Shadow 2. They thought they were naturals haha. I was trying to tell them it was just the pistol but they didn't understand lmao. They both were banging solid tight groupings at 15 yards out. With the .45 and 5.7 they were nowhere near as solid.
Great video. That is a crisp looking handgun. You can actually see the craftsmanship on camera. I don’t shoot competitions but that would never stop me from getting one.
I don't shoot comp and never plan on it..... but still buy these for there craftsmanship and reliability...... and also have love for a steel frame weapon......I only own one polymer weapon.... glock 17...... not a glock fan....but got it for a great deal......and it's definitely a great carry weapon
I’ve owned a TSO in .40 for 2.5 years now... all I can say is wow, what a firearm. A friend is a gunsmith, he fit a 9mm barrel (mill 2 spots for breach lockup) and now I can shoot both 9mm & .40 (change magazine also) with practice shoot consistent with either. You do have to get use to the trigger, it is extremely light and smooth, there is no wall, it just breaks. Love all my CZ’s, but this is my favorite
ddryden2 ok. Thank you very much. Could you send me a few photos of what was done to your TSO? If its ok with you. earthshaker_ssi@hotmail.com. Thanks.
The TSO is the best gun that I have. The size of the gun is perfect, no issues with the size. This gun has made me a believer in single action only handguns with light trigger pulls. I have not purchase a DA/SA handgun since purchasing this gun. This gun is well underpriced for what you get and the fun you have at the range. I am not a competitive shooter and highly recommend this handgun to anyone.
Wish they had a fully click adjustable rear sight instead of click adj for elev and drift adj for windage. And, a 10 rd mag SKU for those of us in the people’s republic of ny.
Love me some CZ's. Wow that trigger has a short pull and light and I can see why it took some time getting use to. My Shadow 2 is 3 pounds and I like it a lot. TSO is very nice but staying with my Shadow 2 for now. Good review KS.
It’s tough to beat the Shadow 2 and it’s definitely a favorite in the collection Randy. Frankly, it’s every bit as good as the TSO. Thank you as always and cheers brother!
I put Lok grips on my CZ Shadow 2. Black with orange edge works great with the urban gray and black Shadow 2. Lok grips are terrific...good looking and super grippy.
Thanks for the shout out KS. I have a CZ TS2 Racing Green on order. Should be here in a few days. Fantastic review buddy, as always. Sure do enjoy them.
Great review. Thorough, informative and interesting. THANKS ! Love the "KSGG" grips. The TSO is a great looking pistol, and I think it looks even better with those "Lokgrips"
Man if I was gonna do any sort of competition shooting this fine piece of Czech steel would DEFINITELY be in the top 3! Thanks for another great and thorough review. CZ’s always make for awesome videos 👍🏽
Thanks for the recommendation. I’d love to get s Shadow 2, after my P01 and P07 of course, but if I can get ahold of a TSO I will definitely take your advice!! 😁
Super review! I tell ya what a good comparison would be the CZ TSO and the Canik TP9SFX . Expensive versus affordable. They have a few things in common!!
Great review. I shoot a Tactical Sport (TS) Czechmate for fun with Scale Grips which are more aggressive than those supplied with the gun. I measure the trigger at 1 lb. Another favorite pistol is the CZ SP01 Shadow Target II from CZ Custom - another work of art. I greatly appreciate your thoughtful reviews, Thanks
Thank you very much! I’d love to shoot a Czechmate at some point. I hear they are amazing. I agree about the CZ Custom SP-01. I have the Shadow Orange and love it. Cheers!
Top of the Mountain CZ shooter.... ah the Czechmate. Tell us what it is like. I have never seen one in person much less shot one. I own merely a lowly TS and an S2. :-)
It is heavier than the S1 and S2 and after shooting 50 rounds my arms hurt since I am 77 yo. Very little recoil and very hard to clean. The trigger as measured by my Lyman gauge is under 1 lb and there is almost no takeup and the reset is almost not present. I am still not comfortable with the trigger. I shoot my S1 (Target II) and S2 (with a 13 lb hammer spring) significantly better at 20 yards. The gun comes with 2 barrels and a Cmore red dot mounted to the frame, not the slide. (I changed the red dot to an RMR) I enjoy shooting the S1 and S2 better. They are my favorite 9mm pistols.
That trigger...wow. I'm a sig guy and like the X5 Legion (sending to sig armorer for competition job action work) but wow. What a beautiful and outstanding gun.
One major factor that got me into investing the TSO is that it still heavily resembles the original/classic CZ75 design. I've always wanted the SP-01 Shadow and 75B as collection but figured "why not invest in the culmination/evolution of both designs?"
CZ-75 pistols truly are masterpieces of engineering and manufacturing- but it makes me wonder with the higher end models if CZ hires artists to paint what new pistols should look like… they are kind of like mechanical art pieces in my mind.
Every time I think I’ve figured out what I’m buying next, I get distracted whenever you release a new review. I guess guess good things come to those who wait?
I got a CZ Shadow 2 about 3 month ago, can't put in words how good it is, you can't miss at 7 to 10 yards, is that good. The grip is a bit narrow for my big hands, its very heavy, but it is a delight to shoot, it is true, once you experience this, it is hard to go back to other guns.
Custom LOK grips too. Sweet. I have a bone stock silver and black TS with the wooden grips in 9mm. $600 less than the TSO without the magazine well, adjustable sights, or thumb rest. Checkering texture is not as fine and grippy and plastic trigger rather than the anodized one. I am going to add an adjustable rear sight and a fiber front sight from CGW and the race trigger and probably LOK grips and the metal mag well. Lots of dry fire to get used to the trigger is a wise thing to do before going live... I compare it to clicking a mouse button when it is properly adjusted. HANG ON TIGHT. it will seem like a bump fire if you don't follow through and pull all the way to the trigger stop. You will get an unintended double tap if you don't hang on.
Having a PPQ with it's zero pounds of take-up & ~3# trigger that I could set off with a shiver, I can't imagine an under 2# AR spec trigger on a pistol like that one w/o constantly using the safely. Talk about "real"! And even though it's as wide as a semi, the left side thumb rest is a nice addition. The whole pistol is just under the weight where it would qualify for wheels & a trailer hitch. No wonder there's practically no flip! Nice review as usual.
It is very difficult to think there is a production CZ that is better than the Shadow 2. Another awesome video brother glad you are able to experience it!
I have the checkmate and I love it, the problem with these guns is how fast you go through ammo, what a great gun I just wish I could get some free ammo
Thank you Jasper! The Shadow 2 is still a top pick for me and it’s tough to choose between the two. The Shadow is definitely more versatile. Cheers brother!
The nice thing about the CZ is you don't have to spend a lot of money to get a good one. Even the POLY frame CZ'S are great guns and very precise and make better "carry" guns than the heavy azzed gun this guy is getting all giddy over. The older CZ75 is also a great pistol and can be very competitive. The older Omega's are also beautiful pistols.
Great review. Im picking this one up. I love the orange grips but after seeing the black on yours, damn, I think I like the black look even more. Gonna check out lokgrips.
It would be nice if they could work out a way to ground in the serrations all the way to the back of the slide, raise them up along side of the rear sight, and still leave room for sight adjustment. Of course the sight couldn't be beveled, it'd have to be screwed into a milled slot, maybe a drawback. Just a thought.
I thought the TSO had always included the orange paddle mag release. That's one of the few things I dislike about my TS2, that it doesn't have the paddle mag release and it doesn't have the frame mounted thumb rest. I just got a used Czechmate, though.
Looks super comfy for the hand & in love with the mag well! It honestly looks like it would be cool for someone with hand dexterity issues with the beavertail? Wicked cool emblem! And the orange trigger set you put in is nice.
It's definitely comfortable! Yes, I think the grip would potentially be good for someone with dexterity issues. Lok did an awesome job on the grips indeed. Thank you and cheers!
It's a great pistol for competition, I have a couple of CZ's, one is a PO7 and a TZ 75 series 88 from Tangfoglio. I carry my PO7 as an EDC weapon. 42 oz is just way too heavy to carry. If you've ever heard of Jeff Cooper, he only liked 2 semi auto's one is the CZ and the other is the Colt 1911. Beautiful weapon. STI and Infinity modify these guns to the max and the prices are pretty steep at 3 thousand to 75 hundred bucks. Way too much for my social security check.
That enlarged magwell insert not being flush with the gun frame is my only issue with the his thing. Outside of that, it’s probably the best budget minded competition Gun that can compete with the 2500-4k and above 2011s
Geez I hate to be that guy but I’m goin to be before some troll goes stupid on you, it’s IPSC, International Pistol Shooting Confederation, not ispc Nice video, I appreciate you doing reviews and keeping the language where parents can watch with kids around
@@mikexlr8 The TSO is too heavy, too wide/thick, and too long. Shadow 2 also, not legal, unless you can shed a lot of weight. Weight is usually the killer for a firearm being IDPA legal, but I believe it makes dimensions.
BCGunner thanks for the heads up. I clearly need to do some research into IDPA and its requirements. I have an HK P30L non modified. It’s fairly lightweight but I’ll look to see if the barrel length exceeds the maximum.
@@mikexlr8 There isn't a limit on barrel length, per-se. It's an overall dimensions limitation defined by the class you want to shoot in. The gun literally has to fit in a certain sized box. If you like CZ and plan on shooting IDPA, say... SSP division. . go with an SP01 tactical.
CZ needs to make more of these in 40sw. This gun is not legal in USPSA Production. It’s a limited gun and you need to shoot major in limited. Thus make more of these in 40
I have a TS in .40 and it is crazy nice! It shoots flat with .40 cal. Almost as nice to shoot as the S2 in my opinion. Great gun for the price for sure.
I love the way CZ pistols feel and the TSO is a lovely gun, but I sure wish CZ would show the 97B some love. Two of my favorite calibers 9x23 Winchester and 10mm are not possibe from CZ but that's why I have two Tanfoglio Stock 3's. Tanfoglio builds a very good gun, but I think a CZ is a little better.
I have the original Tactical Sports. It’s basically the same without all the bells and whistles. Mine also has a less then 2 pound trigger. Really had to get used it it when I got it! I like my Shadow 2 more however if I had the TSO I think it could be my favorite CZ
i like your reviews from target pistols, in the Netherlands where only aloud to shoot on a shooting range where not aloud to carry guns for self defense so please more high quallity target pistols
