One thing I love about the CTC app is you can tap on the numbers outside the grid to grey them out. It makes it easier to keep track of what clues are done and which ones are not.

This puzzle hurt me. I spent a precious 35 minutes on this during the contest, thought I was doing really well, had about 5 cells left to fill in, and... couldn't place a 1 in box 5. I tried to fix it, but everything I did messed something else up. So I cut my losses and knocked out the four easiest puzzles before the time ran out, resulting in my lowest score this year so far. Oh well.

How rare it is for Mark to miss the easy resolution of the 1-2 pair in box 9 and then the 2-3 pair in box 3. I don’t often get to yell at my phone when watching his videos 😂

this was the rare puzzle where Mark didn't do enough pencilmarking at the start and forgot some mandatory box/digit locations, while concentrating on the line tool. Maybe he caught that from Simon?

👍🏻 Finished in 20.00 exactly! (I guess you'd expect to finish 1 puzzle in 60 on a whole minute, but very satisfying to have it on a multiple of 10 😎) This was definitely a puzzle to benefit from using the pen tool 🖊 to mark on lines that were still to be resolved but couldn't easily be pencil-marked because they went across boxes ... always useful to keep a reminder of which clues haven't yet been fulfilled!

Finished this in 25 minutes. Really shows that the timed puzzles can be challenging without taking a monstrous time. A lot of long videos here are logical masterpieces. Kind of the difference between painting a nice 50x50cm painting and making an intricate multilayered mural covering a 40 square meter concrete wall. (Or in some cases a skyscraper.)

This is one of the puzzles I did actually glance at during the GP, but I rarely if ever try the hardest puzzles during the time. I did it tonight before watching your video, though, and agree that doing it as a computer solve would make it much easier than trying to keep track of everything on paper. Thanks so much for doing this one, Mark. I love taking part in the GP and I love watching you solve puzzles from it - of course I love watching you solve puzzles from anywhere! I agree, also, that it is not reasonable in a puzzle with this many markings to think that you will follow exactly the path that anyone else would follow, or that you would be looking at exactly what I am looking at. You were never (truly) stuck, and you were looking and making deductions continuously, so any hesitancy at finding any particular thing is not because you are slow, but because there was a lot to look at and think about.

Quite a nice puzzle, with good logic around the repeated-digit diagonals near the corners, e.g. the 12 and 27 in the lower right corner. The way that I saw those is a little different from Mark: Since the 2 on the 27 diagonal couldn't be in box 9, it was either in row 9 or column 9. Similarly, the 2 from the 12 pair was in either row 9 or column 9. That makes a little scissored version of an X-wing (I bet there's a name for that, but I don't know what it is), since either way around, the 2 in row 9 and the 2 in column 9 were taken by one of those two digits. Therefore, the 2 in the 23 pair in box 3 couldn't be in column 9. Following that around the 23 pair, then the 12 pair, leads to placing the 2 from the 27 diagonal. Similar logic with the 36 and 67 in the lower right eliminated the 6 from column 1 and row 9 outside of those two diagonals, which solved the 46 up in box 1. My time today was 24:39, solver number 7267.

36:47@#1693. I was a bit worried going in about the difficulty. I did not want to waste a lot of time today. But I didn't have to worry. It turned out to be quite approachable. And there were some beautiful, unusual deductions to be made from the layout of the clues. This was one of the most enjoyable puzzles I've encountered recently. Edit after watching the video: Mark's clue-blindedness was excruciatingly hair-pulling today. 😆
