Exploring my stamp collection starting with these 3 postage stamps from Czechoslovakia!

By researching these stamps I learned about Czech/Slovak homesteads, the places of Liptov, Koci/Chrudim, and Cicmany, The Kingdom of Bohemia, Bohemians, Queen Sofia, and Slovak Olympic wear. Not a bad 'knowledge haul' from these 3 unsuspecting stamps!

As a child, I loved those specific stamps so much that I wanted to go to Czechoslovakia to discover their folk architecture. Thank you for making such a great video about them!

That's what I love in philately: research, research and even more reseach. "Every day is a school day" BTW: the word "gypsy" is derived from old English word for "Egyptian" - back then Europeans though Roma people are from Egypt. Now you have a full mish-mash :D

That's super interesting! Gypsy's not from Egypt, nor Bohemian's from Bohemia ... They really did not know from where they came, haha.

@@StampCatStamps That was very common back then before the mass media and education. For example: Muslim people in Middle Ages had contact mostly with Franks (neighbours of then islamic Spain) so for them all white Europeans were known as "Franks" - hence the term "Lingua Franca" - "language of the Franks" meaning common language used by group of differen nations (Latin, now English). In Poland Scottish and Dutch settlers were called "Saxons". We still call Italians "Włosi" which is derived from the word "Wołosi" - people who lived in Walachia region and had nothing in common with Italians exept living south from us. Languages are full of that kinds of misunderstanding that stuck forever :)

Second issue from 3,60 to 50h is because post office change tarifs.cca in 1980. But, its qiet rarity in cechoslovakia stamps re-using old graphic again. More often is reuse presidents portraits etc.
