Here's another one from A Umbra Omega - Blue Moon Duel. WHAT. A. BEAST OF A TRACK!! And simply a beautiful track with lots of intricacies. I spent... 5 months learning this by ear. I believe there are no other videos of this song's guitars.
Kindly obliterate the like button. And enjoy the "tutorial"!
This one took a while, sorry for the lack of uploads. I've concentrated on this one. Probably one of DHG's most difficult tracks to learn for me. There are parts that might not be 100% the way they played on the album, but most of it sounds up to par in my opinion. And a couple of string slips. That happens, but for educational purposes, I think you'd easily know what to play from this video.
I used Ableton Live to track the guitar. I ran everything through my live-setup, just a Line6 Helix LT with 3 patches. Did this to simulate the live-experience, pressing pedal shifts and whatnot.
We were meant to play at Steelfest this weekend. Some deeply unfortunate events occurred, and the right priorities were made. Maybe one of you out there will enjoy this as a tiny consolation.
Please subscribe for more guitar covers in the future. I'll be working on tracks from Black Medium Current.

DHG as a listener takes me to places I want to go to. As a guitarist it takes me to places that confuse and frighten me. In the best possible way. Excellent work, as per usual with all you DHG covers.. It looks as crazy and chaotic as it sounds.

Well said, Damian. Honestly the beginning of this song is so hard to play, it does frighten me, haha. :D

Mate, your ability to play guitar is just ridiculous. I've said it before, this deserves so many more views and should go viral! Amazing bro. Hail!

Thanks a lot for the kind words! Playing this is very difficult, I can't imagine how you even write this stuff! Vicotnik really has such fascinating ideas. :D

Excellent work! It's very impressive to see all the nuances of every riff. This song contains bits and references from every era of Yusaf's career. I wonder if you guys will ever play this live or it's too much of a pain in the ass? Thanks for doing this video! :)

I don't know when, but we've been talking about playing the whole of A Umbra Omega live at some point. Same with Black Medium Current. I really want to do that too! But a lot of planning goes into that, and not to mention, promoters need to be aligned with the idea, and book DHG. I believe it will happen eventually! I think those last two albums really deserve the full presentation as they are on the album. This particular song has been played a couple times live before, but as of now Aphelion Void is the go to for a live set, as it's the most well known one from A Umbra Omega, fan service has its place too in a sense. :)

Thank you! The live guitar position hasn't really been announced yet, not sure it will, and I've only gotten to play once so far. Next up is Tasmania, Hobart. At Dark MOFO. Looking forward to that. :D My favourite is The Unlocking, but I won't dare touch that one until I get some help from Vic. It sounds super hard to pluck by ear. :D

Thank you! I'm a huge fan of Calle myself. However, our surnames aren't uncommon in Norway, so it is just a coincidence. :)

@@JonasEide Thank You very much for Your kind response! Yeah, personally close to the core of what it all came from during the 90s. Vicotnik and Aldrahn et al. as well. Heroes! Take care! 🌳
