Thank for letting the scriptures and the words of the prophets be your guide and ours. So many teachers on youtube make themselves the authority instead of pointing us to the Savior and his chosen servants. I listen to you because I feel the Spirit in your videos.

These lessons bring life to the restoration of the gospel and the work of the prophet Joseph Smith and the early saints, in bringing forth the Book of Mormon and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Thank you for these lessons. The Doctrine and Covenants become easier to remember and understand. What faitha and power the early Saints possessed. I am so thankful that we found the True Church of Jesus Christ. The Holy Spirit spoke to me and I left the Baptist ministry 50 years ago to be a part of the Restoration. Love you all.

Wow, this is so exciting to "relive" experiences of the early Saints. My testimony is enhanced by learning of their personal sacrifices. I also love learning how God dealt with each in a personal way, and of their obedience to the Holy Spirit's promptings. Thank you Brother Pettit for your contributions that will enhance and strengthen testimonies around the world.

You may want to read The Autobiography of Parley P. Pratt Complete & Unabridged pg 19. Parley met Hyrum driving cows not at his house, and he hadn't finished the Book of Mormon yet. He finished it the next day on his 30 miles journey to a preaching engagement. Amazing stop to finish a book, and finish 30 miles.

@rtboothby3053
@rtboothby3053 3 года назад
A couple times it does sound as though he is saying “1860”, but if you go to around 20:19 he very clearly says “1816” and later in his talk he clearly says “1816” a couple more times. That fits in with the timeframe he mentions where he says that Solomon Chamberlain looked for the new church for 14 years before discovering the Book of Mormon being printed in Palmyra in 1830 (1816 +14 = 1830).

Fun facts, The book of Mormon was written in America in the style of the King James Bible, 200+ years old at the time, (perhaps to make it seem more 'scriptural' ?) Joseph Smith used some 141 names taken directly from the Bible, ( perhaps to make it seem more scriptural)?. Joseph used some 480 Bible verses in his book of Mormon. (Perhaps to make it seem more scriptural)?. No wonder people with little Bible knowledge are deceived into thinking the BOM is/could be from God. Another fun fact, Joseph Smith claimed that the Book of Mormon was the most correct book on earth, and that a man could become closer to God by reading it than any other book. Another fun fact, the book of Mormon text has been changed many many times since it's first printing, even though it was said to be translated under God's guidance directly from the golden plates . Kind regards to all, especially Mormon folk.
@richardtong3099

Many of these fun facts have been researched in great lengths by both LDS and non LDS but I don't think anyone has committed more time and energy than a man called Royal Skousen. His research into the book of Mormon text is incredible and actually very testimony promoting. I would suggest to anyone struggling with dealing with these kind of " fun facts" to check out Royal Skousen but more importantly pray, ask Heavenly Father about the book of Mormon.

Interestingly no one has ever been able to duplicate a set of scripture that dovetails with the Bible like the BofM. I have noticed you and 1 other person gets on here first and tries to poke holes in what others believes which makes me wonder why you would spend so much time that could be dedicated to something productive. We don’t just believe blindly like you might think.

@@wendyfoster5579 Hello Wendy, Thank you for your comments, I genuinely love talking to dear Mormon folk, l truly respect the wholesome lifestyle you / they try to live. The very existence of 'another testimony' invalidates the authority of the first if it is in any way different, ( as in our 'last Will and testament etc)'. The very existence of the bom is a direct attack on the Holy Bible as God's complete and finished revelation to all mankind through all the ages, and it's supreme authority and trustworthiness as the Christian's rule of faith, Joseph Smith was fully aware of this. Furthermore he verbally attacked the followers of Christ for allegedly taking 'plain and precious things' from the Bible, (Nephi 13:28). The 8th LDS Article of faith states that they believe the Bible is not translated correctly, (casting more doubt in the minds of Joseph Smith's followers). On the other hand Joseph Smith claimed his bom was 'the most correct book on earth', able to bring it's readers 'closer to God than by reading any other book, his church calls it the' keystone' of their faith, as indeed it is. Early Mormon leaders were shockingly anti Christian, read Brigham young's (and others) quotes now on- line, 'poking holes' with a vengeance, on Christ's followers. All Mormon missionaries 'poke holes' in my faith regularly at my door, telling me in effect the Holy Bible isn't enough, and my faith in the Lord Jesus isn't enough, l MUST read the bom and learn all about and come to trust their church's founder and his message, never once have I been encouraged to read the Bible by them. Being a Bible believing follower of Christ isn't enough for them, I have to believe in Joseph Smith, his church and believe his book of Mormon, ie, my Bible and faith fall short. Joseph Smith's vast and uniquely Jewish civilization, 'numerous almost as the sands of the sea' that 'stretched from coast to coast', has not and cannot be found, as it existed only in Joseph Smith's imagination. With 141 Bible names, and it's 480 verses taken directly from the King James Bible, as was it's literary style, it obviously wasn't translated from golden plates but designed to resemble the Bible. I love dear Mormon folk, but they are not christians, there is a great and abiding divide between Mormonism and Biblical Christianity, and it was there from beginning, that's why l, and others do what we do. Kind regards to you personally, Geoff.
