This video shows riding a horse with braveness that has learned how to avoid being ridden and even bucking in an attempt to get the rider to stop doing what they're doing. The horse's perception is what matters and if the horse is too fresh or not in the mood for whatever reason, and they buck, jump out, or spook - the rider's first reaction is typically to just stay on, so the he/she usually releases the pressure they had on the reins and often times squeezes with their legs at the same time - which causes an even worse adverse reaction)
In this video you are watching me hold a steady position with a consistent rhythm traveling on a definite path until the horse matches my energy and relaxes in it.
Note, Part 1, Part2, and Part 3 are all the same session with this horse, we simply split them up for viewing purposes, but were all filmed in one session.
The transformation in this horse is very evident, as he now understands that coming into agreement is his best choice for an easy, enjoyable time with the human working with him.

He looks much softer at the end of the video. I really like how you narrate the whole session: I’m a talker too! 😂 It helps me focus on what I’m doing and feeling and makes me a better communicator for my riding students.
@cappelhorsetrainingandshoeing
@cappelhorsetrainingandshoeing 11 месяцев назад
Yes . The talking is strictly for the film and those watching for me . When I’m riding for myself the communication between me and the horse is solely through feel and I’m quiet verbally . This allows me to have better timing . I’ve had to learn how to talk and ride at the same time for teaching sake .

This lesson did both myself and the horse so much good. He is behaving much better and I got a refresher on how or what to do when he does something outside of the picture. Thanks so much!

Is this your horse? He progressed beautifully in one session, I can imagine after a few session you have a dream horse! It’s always something for us owners to maintain what the trainers put in them isn’t it, you’re lucky Dennis is nearby for refreshers 😄🌟
@cappelhorsetrainingandshoeing
@@Livstarling no he is not my horse . I rode him for a few months and he went home to be with his owner and this bucking developed while he was home. So he was back for a tune up session . She is getting along fine with him now because she was able to see what she needed to do to prevent the wrong behavior and keep his mind with her .

What is the tail telling you? Also I like the way you let him find the lope.
@cappelhorsetrainingandshoeing
A tail like he has at this moment is like you and I setting in the dentist office , or a lawyers office or for god save remember the principals office ? Nothing good ever came out of there . Lol So the Tail is just a bit of tension that will lessen with understanding

In your experience, when you have a horse that has that tendency to want to buck the rider off, can you ever really train it out of them? Or is it something you will always have to be conscious of?
@cappelhorsetrainingandshoeing
@cappelhorsetrainingandshoeing 11 месяцев назад
This depends a lot on who is on there back Most of them can be fine to ride but there are a few that have learned how to get out of work with bucking that might not be brought through They need to go to the bronc string and most of them won’t be good bucking horses either
@rhondab9792
@rhondab9792 6 месяцев назад
Is the shank bit because he's been trained up to that level or does it help with bucking tendency? Edit: oops. Just noticed this is part 3, maybe viewing 1&2 will answer my question.
@cappelhorsetrainingandshoeing
@cappelhorsetrainingandshoeing 6 месяцев назад
There is no significant reason that I use a shank bit or a snaffel or a hackamore I will use a bit with two hands as well as a snaffel and a hackamore . I use my body and my hands together to get the horse to be in my picture . Any piece of equipment can be used for good or can be misused for bad . The response from the horse has the final say . If you are aware that you might not be able to do that then staying with a snaffle is probably best
@lorimcentarfer7413
@lorimcentarfer7413 9 месяцев назад
Are the flys that bad or is he just that pissed that his tail is still going even after he blew out at the end of the video?
@silver.fox__

Id take him back to a snaffle bit till he softens
@cappelhorsetrainingandshoeing
@cappelhorsetrainingandshoeing 10 месяцев назад
Wouldn’t argue a bit with you about that sir . He did soften by the end of this ride and he found a way to go with out pushing on my hands . There is always more than one way to the same answer . Thank you

You did just fine till you put that compression bit in his mouth. If you could catch the vision of the principle of bend there would be no head tossing and you could bend him to a stop.
