Building on the groundwork laid by Operation Fortitude South, they reinforced the illusion of the fictitious invasion of Pas-de-Calais. In the early hours of June 6, 1944, as forces made their way to the actual invasion points in Normandy, a small squadron of bombers and boats worked together to divide the Nazi forces.
Knowing an invasion force as big as the one heading to Normandy would almost certainly be detected by enemy radar, the allies set out on a plan to distract and delay German responses.
