IF YOU LIKE THE VIDEO SHARE THE VIDEO. A 1080p HD color tribute to the men who fought in World War II, specifically those who fought on D-Day. Disclosure: All videos used are historical recordings of World War II and may not necessarily be of D-Day. Unfortunately, there isn't an over-abundance of D-day footage that was filmed, and, of the little that was, not much has survived the test of time- so I was left with little choice but to intersperse any surviving D-day footage with other World War 2 footage that, while not technically being recordings of D-Day themselves, still nonetheless capture, at least in my opinion, the spirit of the operation. Appreciate all of your kind words, glad you're able to enjoy the video despite some portion of the footage being from other theaters of World War II. Thanks! It’s gives me such a weird feeling when I watch this. I showed this to my class during my d-day presentation. I got a standing ovation and the teacher teared up because her father fought in the war and died a few days after the invasion.

One of my uncles who was the younger of my dad's two older brothers, was a radioman on a destroyer off Omaha Beach on D-Day, his ship picked up up survivors from landing craft that had sunk. Ten months latter he survived the sinking of his ship, now converted to a destroyer-minesweeper, by the Japanese Kamikazes off Okinawa. Another uncle, who was my dad's oldest brother was with the 8th Air Force in Britain, repairing damaged bombers and getting usable parts out of the bombers too damaged to repair.

80 years ago many men and women fought for the freedom of millions of people in Europe and never in their years did they think that the country they fought for will send up like this. We are quickly losing these heroes as every month nearly 150 of America’s veterans die. So I would like to thank all the people involved in that bloody war for their service and hope they know that they are not forgotten.

I have family members buried in American Cemeteries from Both World wars. Captain Maurice Britt was upset he couldn’t take part as He had lost a part of his arm in Italy and was awarded the CMH he was put to work on a war bond tour after left the hospital. Thank You to all who served and sacrificed special prayers for the families who lost loved ones serving in this horrible but necessary war to stop the spread of Tyranny, Chaos, and Fascism

My grandad served in the royal engineers and was apart of d day and operations after it. He would hardly speak about the war, if ever. and he hated Remembrance Sunday. Because all he wanted to do was forget. It sounds cliche but he would always say the real hero’s were dead. And could never understand the men parading there medals.

As an Albanian whose people fought the occupants back then, i have to say some things. Today, we Remember the sacrifice of thousands of soldiers who fought at the Normandy beaches, in order to liberate millions of people from Nazi occupation and a suffering Humanity. They were on their best years of their lives and died on the cause for a free world. Today, we join the tributes of millions of people around the world, appreciating their sacrifice so we can live Free. We owe them our Freedom and their sacrifice is priceless. I'm so proud to have lived in the age of WW2 veterans. I use to go to the VFW and AMERICAN LEGION with my dad who was a VIETNAM veteran. I was to young to truly appreciate these veterans at that time. But as a veteran myself I SOLUTE YOU my forefathers

these men and boys as young as 18 before this war were mere carpenters, builders, factory workers, clerks and in mere months they were rushing an almost suicidal charge on a heavily defended beach all because that country has been the aggresor and to them they had to win it as simple as that

The man who designed the landing craft is a psychological genius and one cold son of a bitch. By drooping the ramp forward the landing craft itself provides the men within zero concealment or cover forcing them to move or die. Thus the men inside are forced to ignore their instinct to flee or freeze. If the craft hadn't been designed like that it's likely the men would've stayed in the landing craft and been blown away by artillery.

Haha no need to be sorry. You are absolutely correct. I'm not an American, but while watching this I dunno why I felt like an American. I got teary eyed lol. I don't know what Sam or Bob did on that Guadalcanal's beach that day with their weapons and fearful yet brave hearts, but I know one thing for sure that it definitely changed the course of our world from a more darker future.

@@dava1176 Different sizes doesn't change the fact it IS the same thing. It's Ukrainian young brave men dying just like Americans died during D-Day. Same thing. Same pain to families You do realise Ukraine is fighting a war for NATO? It may not be so big as World War 2, but if Ukraine will lose, it will lead to such a war that even WW2 won't stand up to it compared by casualties.
