D&E PERFORMANCE MSD LS 6014 BOX TUTORIAL#1 

I hook mine straight to key switch 12v use a 30 amp inline fuse for added safety ground straight to the chassis or a good ground source..

6700 is the default

Follow the instructions to the t on all wiring I'm pretty sure the instructions say to ground the harness to the back of the heads or the block

USB cable with the old style GoPro end unless it is the older 6010 box takes that really old serial Port cable You might have to check Holly's website for the software just go under support and type in 6014 MSD box Holly acquired MSD some years ago If that doesn't work try calling their support directly and see if you can get one of their USB drives with the software on it

Having a choppy cam has to do more with your cam timing and not idle

open MSD view go to file it should say 6014 sample if you do not have a current file saved click on that open MSD view go to your timing table click on custom1 And then you can set your timing at idle with your dots I usually give it at 400 RPM right around 11° or 12° of timing at that first initial fire off Find out where it likes to idle and then adjust the dots in that idle point Make sure you go to settings and set all your max rev launch rev coil type idle timing control first before changing your initial timing table if you do not set this it will always default make sure after every change you go up to file and hit save After each change make sure you transfer the file to the MSD So you will go to transfer and then send usually takes a few moments for your adjustments to be loaded into the MSD do not turn off the key as you are transferring a file

Carlos Quintero It's very easy and straightforward the Box comes with two separate harnesses one for the 58 reluctor and the other ones for the 24 reluctor just need to determine what your LS is.. all the plugins are going to fit in their spot not 2 plugins are alike.. I could possibly make a short video on this the turbo videos going to be coming out in the next week and a half or so maybe I'll throw and wiring harness video..

do one harnes at a time theres one for the coils and one cranck and cam the ground the motor and msd box msd has a instruction digram online

That is your opinion I have had good luck in the past with MSD products MSD is now owned by Holley my opinion being Holley makes some good products. The only downfall is the 2.5 bar map sensor on the 6014 6010 can scale to 3 bar but that box is discontinued Not saying that Daytona sensors box is any better or any worse I haven't had the opportunity to own one of these Daytona sensors boxes maybe in the future I can do a comparison with screen capture.. I think both products are good depending on what you want to use them for and what your goals are with your LS carb project. .

@@billytarpon9871 Not at all a Good thing with Holley buying MSD, The MSD coils and most other MSD products as well as Holley products are now outsourced and Made in China garbage, The 6014 Box says Made in Texas still, But the LS coils as well as others that MSD offers now are known for burning up or even D.O.A., Made in China garbage with same High $ price, Stick to LS3 '190' GM coils

The 6014 box has to have a 12 volt key switch signal make sure that you have MSD view downloaded on your PC. Same thing goes for a laptop MSD view software downloaded 12 volt key switch from box.

@@deperformance9741 the box is currently in my truck runs and drives and is powered on a toggle switch I’m am trying to do a custom tune and when I plug the usb into the box and into the pc it doesn’t give me the option to transfer the tune I click send or transfer nothing happens

When you go into msdview software at the bottom where it says file make sure that's lit up green another way to check this is to go to the top where it says connect and transfer the side drop-down menu where your send your files should be lit up black if this is not you have a connection problem between PC and the box check the USB connection between the box and the PC.The file icon at the bottom if lit up green means it is connected to the software if that box is not lit up it's not going to let you receive or transfer files you might have a connection problem somewhere between the box and your PC make sure you have a good connection with the USB cord on the box Make sure the key ignition as to the on position box should be hooked to key switch ignition 12v not constant power

So I can’t use a toggle switch to power my msd box

toggle switch is fine that's on and off switched power make sure there's a 30 amp fuse in between toggle switch and box
