@@yes-nc4vo Yeah the ones in this video were the single round ones, not the compiled battle Coz in the compiled battle Scott just says "next round D-Low, switch" or something
Dlow round 2 was just insane. To do that in 24 hours, and also with Zekka's unique style, he killed the final with this for me. The clicker part from Dlow was unreal, and the transition in this was fire.
Funny looking back at some of the reactions to this giving it to Zekka. D-Low's rounds in Kickback are undoubtedly the best battle rounds in beatbox history. Almost so good that it has made every battle since then look weak. Fun to go back and check these out after seeing the rounds dozens of times now.
BTW in the beginning of d-low's 2nd round he referred to the circle of death and throughout he drew circles with his hands. Loved the reaction keep up the great work.
Cuz first off he has a different voice of course and it's pretty higher than dans voice, and there is that he didn't develop it enough and English is not his native language (like most of us) so he pronounces it differently
Great analysis! You didn’t think the judges would agree with you, for some reason, but clearly they did. Napom even mentioned the intonation issues in Zekka’s bass. I have to say it feels a little arbitrary-even my own reactions. I reacted a lot to those two intonation issues but there were plenty I didn’t react as negatively to in lots of other rounds. Maybe it’s just cause everyone has trouble keeping pitch in the higher register. Maybe it’s because Zekka’s tonal center is so strong that you notice the two things that are off? Probably it’s just cause they were almost a semitone out whereas usually the shifts are more gradual or just slight flatness. Anyway, really enjoyed your reaction again. And I loved all the rounds. But I really, really loved the intro in D-low’s first round. There’s no looking backwards...
I really like your analysis. I'm struggling to hear the pitch issue @Stitch Beatbox & Music mentions at 23:30, it seems to fit the melody perfectly to my ears and I find it very pleasant to listen to, so much so that it has been stuck in my head for months! Maybe it's a good thing I'm not trained enough to notice!
It was just like Codfish and Bataco.. First round: Bataco (Zekka) Second round: Far ahead Codfish (D Low) That's the major reason cause both Codfish and DLow took the best beats of opponents and did it better than them..
For me i'd say that the first 2 rounds were very close but i'd give it to Zekka, and then the last 2 rounds was a clear win ti D-low for me, so i'd give the battle to d-low.
Zekka had good counters in his second round bit they were from either dlows semi final or his wildcard, not his rounds so that's why I would give the second round to dlow
In round 2 d-low have more elements for 2 min,and show in all battle more versatility, the zekka rounds from all tournament sound simillar, yeah, its very clear but, yeah
Yes, I also think Zekka took this final, buuuuut, I understand why D-Low won. At this level is about feelings, and an example of this is that both had the same total score if we add up all the scores of the judges.
Tbh #Stitch sometimes beatoxers invent things at ine thing tbh iam not lying but the combination of pwad's Vocal bass and Throat bass i invent it too but iam soo happy seeing my idea is really something great
23:45 That absolutely is not out of pitch. He lays a baseline with the first oscillation, then goes up with the second oscillation and doubles down with the vocal bass. Idk how you were interpreting it, replaying it on an instrument or just recording and exporting it into midi data in a DAW makes it visible that hes 100% on pitch though.
Honestly for me i feel zekka couldnt carry the energy in the battle and it just made it fall off with me and there was just a couple more parts of dlows rounds than zekkas round that i find mind bogling. Also yeah there was just a couple of what felt like reused things from zekkas previous rounds when everything except dlows inward bass was new. Thats how i saw it that as a whole dlow had the energy and presence and clarity in his complex beats that zekka didnt have still both beatboxers were lit 🔥🔥
D-low got destroyed in the first round in your opinion? Man D-lows first round was my favourite round of the whole kickback I felt it was full and perfect! Zekkas felt empty alot empty and that clickroll drop again?🙄 It's getting repetitive imo Although D-low did a lot of inward bass (in the whole kickback) and i didn't like that aswell but his zippers are amazing and different in each round Edit: you guys need to relax 14 comments and no likes And im being attacked because i said my opinion wow
Dlows first round wouldve been better than zekka's first round if he didnt overuse those dlow zipper combos. He used those combos in almost every single battle. Just my take on it
