I know, and the truth is, this was just a couple of hours of work! I think those who are pro and invest a bit more time can get much better results haha
Thanks for the D5 review. I think for my use case a combination of Enscape and D5 will get me everything I need. Great cost/time to performance ratio on both.
@@ShowItBetter I would create all models and base materials in Chief Architect > export Collada to Sketchup with baked in non PBR materials > produce quick turnaround clay and basic renders and panoramas in Enscape with little to no material adjustment for immediate client review > after revisions bring final model into D5 for final PBR materials, furniture and landscape staging and final renders and video.
@@ShowItBetter I’ll also add that Enscape’s hosted panoramas have been extremely convenient for client reviews. Much faster than delivery of multiple static images. I could generate panoramas from D5 and do the same but would have to publish them somewhere and that alone for me is worth keeping Enscape in the workflow.
certainly a tool every archiviz artist should have in their back pocket. I looks great and works surprisingly well for interior. You are also very good at your job, hats off, beautiful images you created
The architecture firm I'm working for is still on lumion 8.5. I wanted to ask for an update to lumion 12, but now I'm in doubt. Since I'm pretty much the only one doing all the renders in the office, it might be a good idea to test out D5 first before letting them purchase lumion 12. What software do you think has the upper hand right now? Even if you completely ignore the price difference, since I'm not the one paying for it anyways..
i wouldnt use lumion if you payed me too. its UI is the worst the renders are not exceptional , when the likes of D5 / Unreal Engine / VRAY and even twin motion with the new path tracer is exceptional its free you have to try these before you go in on Lumion.
Lumion is very stable, and has a collection of tools that are easy to use. It's also better at "moods" and slightly better at outdoor renders. There is little need to upgrade from 8.5 result wise. I would recommend a slow shift to D5. Subscribe for a few months and try it out. I would guess D5 would reach maturity within a couple of years at the fast pace they are updating their software.
@@rhov233 I disagree completely, Real Skies are first worthwhile Lumion upgrade, sky light effect also, and both were introduced in L9 (or even 10). The bottleneck here would be hardware used to run it. Both Lumion and D5 are GPU hogs.
Hi now if you want pro you need to pay for it. I love the software as an interior designer is very fast for a quick presentation, just pay for the whole year, will be saving time and time is money. Thanks for your videos
No ways can it take over right now. Unless everyone magically gets RTX cards then yes. The program is limited to people who have the required specs, lumion / escape / twinmotion anyone can run with a half decent machine. When GPU's become more readily available, then yes I do see d5 taking over. Their pricing is extremely competitive and thier exterior rendering capability will become a heck of a lot better by that time.
This is amazing! the feature and UI looks quite user friendly. although, What graphics card do you use? I want to make sure my computer can handle all of this!
This is fricking mind blowing!!! Thanks for sharing!! What Windows release is it working on? And what graphic card are you using here? Congrats for your beautiful scene!
@@Carolina-mw4po ahah sorry!! i thought I was answering your comment of another video. So to answer your question, I use a GEFORCE RTX 2070 SUPER, and you can find all of the software requirements here: www.d5render.com/specs
@@ShowItBetter hello! I came back just to thank you again becaise your video did encourage me to get a graphic card, and also inspired me about d5 render aeristic capabilities. I have to tell you something that really surprised me, in the past month I did 24+ scenes from scratch and rendered all the clips which sum more than 15 minutes! (I'd neded months or even a whole year to do that amount of work with max and vray) I did it all with the free version of d5 render, I really love it, the workflow is so fast! Unbelievable! Thanks again! You can see the results in my videos if you want.
Looks great! When I apply grass material, it doesnt go to the edge like yours. There seems to be an offset on all sides where it is just 2D texture image of grass. What am I doing wrong?
Great channel Steven, I love your contents! I want to incorporate a model from the 3d warehouse in my render. If this model is part of other models in the scene can I use it for commercial use? Thanks in advance
I tried twinmotion and lumion. I'm currently using lumion due to the large asset library. I was tempted to go back to twin motion as it have path tracing, but now I'm leaning towards this software. Only thing that's holding me up is that its not compatible with 3ds max 22 as yet.
@@ShowItBetter Then why do we import everything one by one in D5? I think if i import object one by one sometimes it may create a problem to place object at the same point where we have placed in 3dsmax And one more thing can we just be dependent on D5 and ignore 3dsmax renders for still renders....
do we have to make a group or component to a model to apply selected finish, when i apply wood finish to a cabinet it had applied to whole model not particular part
Bth D5 Render and TwinMotion 2022 (with raytracing) render SLOWER on my GTX 1060 than Thea Render, which is 100% raytracing. Really... if you don´t have a RTX, choose Thea, or VRAY, whatever. Better final quality and FASTER (which is hard to imagine since in theory D5 and TM are supposed to be real time...)
Nice Video, have been waiting for it since the D5 2.0 update :) ! But does anyone else have the same issue with the scenes that i have ? I can save different camera positions with the scenes, but the environment settings wont be saved. So for example if i change back from a night to a day scene, it switches to my saved view point but with the same environment settings like in the scene used before. Would be glad if someone has an idea for my Problem :)
I woud prefer D5 to lumion any day. But its not enough to make me leave corona render engine. D5s free asset library is limited and you can only do a video render when you buy the pro version. Lumion wins here. All the same, its still my option for video renders which would have taken forever to render in Vray or Corona render engine (3Ds Max).
There's a lot more to this than rendering, while I love Blender it's cumbersome to setup a scene with lights, atmospherics, assets etc. Here it looks like you can just adjust sliders and get a decent result very quick
