I didn't think the 7 was any different than the 5-6. According to GoPro web site, the same device that we use on our 5 will work on the 7 editions. @greatflyer_aviation
@greatflyer_aviation 5 лет назад
Hi, thank you so much! That is the standard procedure recommended by the manufacturer, Diamond. In twin engine piston aircraft, very rarely would you take off with flaps set, in anticipation of an EFATO - engine failure after takeoff. The aircraft would barely climb on one engine with the flaps down. Good job for noticing and thanks for stopping by!

Hi Zen! Unit cost for a DA42 is about half a million USD. The advantages are speed and reliability (two engines instead of one). They do not cause distraction as the props are invisible while spinning, and they are off to the side away from forward view.

This is not the case in Europe, the transition altitude can be as low as 3000 feet, meaning you can have as low as FL035. It is 6000 feet for Shoreham, notice how ATC instructed me to "climb 6000 feet" then "climb FL080" having passed the transition altitude. The transition level varies and can be calculated using QNH and each airport's transition altitude.

It is absolutely not a necessity to wear life jackets in a multi engine piston aircraft at any time. The rule (as per Part-NCO) is that if you're flying more than 50nm from a suitable landing area or 30 mins flight time at all-engines TAS life jackets must be *CARRIED* onboard. Hey Chris, every country has different transition altitude. Looking at your RU-vid videos, it seems you're from the US and as you know US and Canada is FL180. But in most countries, it is much lower and some even change their transition altitude everyday depending on altimeter setting. In Europe (looks like this guy is from the UK), the transition altitude is much lower than the US. In Cuba, which is only a few miles from the coast of Florida, it usually is 3.000ft (sometimes 4.000ft). Cheers and happy flying.
