Short story how we used and what we did with our Duster.
Driving in mud, snow, long and short trips and travels, on main roads and off road trails. No problems with the car, never stopped, never failed.
Car is Dacia Duster 4x4 1.3 TCe 150HP with Kleber Krisalt hp3 R17/60/215 tyres.
Duster does not look bad, costs little, is spacious, has the necessary equipment, but how does it behave on the road? In my opinion, good, although it can be described by the slogan "comfort at a reasonable price". So we are talking about compromises. Well, the shock absorbers and springs in the test Duster 4x4 are set to give as much comfort as possible. As a result, the car eagerly swallows bumps so that on most roads we will not feel any small holes at all. We can also climb most speed bumps without fear, even with unreasonable speed, which of course I do not recommend.
Where is this compromise? Instead, the Duster drives not very confidently, even though the 4x4 version has a multi-link suspension at the rear, and not a torsion beam like the front-wheel drive variant. So let's not risk too much in the corners, because such experiments may not end well. And the 4x4 drive? It's a Nissan engineer's brainchild - it can work in forward torque mode with automatic rear wheel engagement, or - at low speeds - by continuously transferring power to both axles. Of course, there is no reducer, but we have another clever solution: first gear with a very low ratio. On a daily basis, it is used only for starting, but it is useful in the field when the car is crawling and not driving.
