I loved classic game room. It really sucks that it ended the way it did. That show was a staple of my High School years. Mark makes music and weird animations now.

If you get another one, you should definitely get a disc-based system. They might be finally showing better care with the older solid state systems, but disc-based systems are where the real challenge lies with refurbing a console since the complexity raises significantly. Moving parts have a lot more common points of failure, and those parts that work are only getting older and harder to find.

So… DKOldies might be actually doing good work now that they have all this attention on them, but what’s going to happen once all the RU-vidrs move on? I have a feeling they will be going right back to not doing any refurbishing.

No lie as soon as you cut the system on and heard the the sega song clip and hearing the sonic title song gave me nostalgia and make me feel like I was a kid again back in 91

That Classic Game Room throwback hits so hard, I can't believe it's been almost 8 years since they stopped with their daily reviews. I remember Rich talking about CGR leaving RU-vid and then talking about them coming back to RU-vid and how it showed you can't really succeed on your own without it. That was a sad time, and was the start of the end for them. RU-vid has always had bad copyright systems. I'm so glad that people still remember Classic Game Room and how great it was, thanks for the callback Rich!

One of the reasons this could be so clean is because it's fanless and you might have just gotten somebody's lesser used console. That being said if they are doing the work they should be then well done DK oldies.

What parallel universe am I? DKO delivered an actually cleaned console?

To be fair: These older consoles are way easier to clean/refurbish than "newer" systems like a PS3 or the original XBox, because of fewer components to keep track of. I always had the impression that their refurbishing team may skip a few consoles every now and then, especially when they require more time to refurbish. I've seen multiple videos of people who had decently cleaned consoles like a Genesis or a SNES, but the people who rightfully complain about DKOldies mostly had those "newer" consoles.

It's funny that Rich and his dad look around the same age.

That's actually my favorite version of the Genesis. I got mine out of the trash at work... And it was in damn near like new condition.

The DkOldies extravaganza is my favorite from Rich.

That is a Sega Genesis 1.5 because the original Sega Genesis model 1 had High Definition Graphics listed on the top of the console and had an extra port on the back of the console. There was a video someone did on RU-vid explaining the models and revisions of the Sega Genesis really interesting to watch and see all the revisions that Sega did with the Genesis.

I bet the reason the Genesis is in such clean condition is because that's how DK Oldies received it

The Neo-Geo AES was just like the model 1 Sega Genesis in that it also has a 3.5mm stereo headphone jack + volume slider, and also only outputted a mono audio signal from it's composite A/V output. I modded mine to have lineout on the back (along with an svideo output). The Genesis model 2 and Neo-Geo CD would add stereo out on the back.

Fun fact: this genesis is a VA6 model. It doesn't have "High definition graphics" but should still have the higher quality audio circuits. I've got one of the same models myself.

I swear to God this could be the console I sold off 1-2 years ago on mercari. I have no way of proving this is it but the controller I sold off had screws with brown and white stuff because of rust and spiders. It used to have white tape on the front which I can't explain but they likely cleaned it off. The reason everything was clean inside was because the sega cd port was never used I never owned a sega cd. The console was never opened ever either. I should point out the contacts were likely replaced as they were wearing out as I used to have a hard time booting up some games. They likely threw in sonic the hedgehog because of the many copies sega sold. I sold my sega genesis with a bunch of games as well. But like I said the odds would have to be something for this to be the case. The console was only full of dust as well.

I mean if they actually started to do the refirbishing, then mission accomplished.
