The dads that grew up listening to punk can appreciate modern rap more. Punk music has similarly repetitive and dirty lyrics along with often minimum instruments.
Being a Biggie, Nas, Em, Wu, Guru, Immortal Technique, Chino XL guy, I can't do this style of rap. Hope you guys are ok with some criticism 😊. Just not for me. Love the channel fellas!!!
I disagree, as another old head. It’s important to not get so hung up on old styles/sounds it actually doesn’t add to hip hop credibility it just sounds like your stuck in a time warp. I think metro’s producing is top tier and I feel this song lyrics and delivery really paint a picture very similar to the gritty mid 90’s stuff. Sorry you can’t see that, u miss out when u can’t expand your mind
I think your dad might enjoy listening to The Roots, A Tribe Called Quest, De La Soul & The Pharcyde, especially their debut & sophomore albums which some songs on the second album were produced by J Dilla.
Dad's a quick study man! Love coming back to the channel and listening to music I haven't heard in a while and getting your pops first experience to it
His flow is so natural like you said the guy literally talks and makes it sound hard as fuck, I used to not get the appeal for a long time but it just clicked one day. His flow is so organic and raw it slaps. Not the best lyricist but I’m not going to 21 for lyrics honestly.
