"Coffee Car" is what he called his "hobby car". He'd drive it to a neighboring town cafe and get a coffee in his "coffee car". Let's take a look at the '82 Nifty Fifties Truck! Old Mopar Iron
Me and your Dad think alike! I put that same hood ornament on a 1985 W150. I am rooting for the Slant. Just picked one up one too. But whatever, just so it’s not an LS or electric!!!
I have a 1984 d100 with a slant six and a manual. I stuck slightly bigger tires on it and then stuck a suregrip with better gears in it. I enjoy it. I have no desire to buy any other truck ever.
Good storyline. I have my Dads 86 Chevy C20. Had to update a few things. But I still keep it almost the same. They’re good ol trucks. But the best thing is they were our “Dads”. Nice video at the end 👍
Not everything has to be a Hot Rod… just a good Truck. Love seeing the writing with the firing order and timing. Actually Tom’s dad had that writing inside on the fenders of The Jackpine Savage. Ran the same 440 from 1970-1992
I bought my 85 d150 2 years ago, 318 90,000 miles. Put 4 barell intake holley 600 headers, redid suspension, runs great, the guy i bought it from only used it for camping in the summers, no rust, wouldnt trade it for a new 100, 000 dollar truck
I had an 85 D100, slant six, 727. Drove it all the way from Florida with a rod knock, that thing was tuff! It's front end parts still live on as I have converted my 77 D200 to a half ton
Thanks for sharing sir. And I +1 JustMoparJoe he is an awesome builder. Am cleaning up my 81 W truck with 225,np435 trans, and np 208 tcase. I will be following this truck for sure. Your old man def knew how to keep it clean golly underhood is soo nice. Be safe willrun
We need new videos sir I'm stuck watching the news and there's nothing good about that, God bless you Tim, the 43rd Annual Mopar Nats at National Trails Raceway coming up I live right down from the track I do have that coming up Aug 9-11 but until then we need 318willrun
How fast do you need to go that slant has ways to make it get up and go in our family were had plenty of slants in early valiants and many friends with them and put many brand x to shame in there so called V8s . It’s already in it and that makes a great start with out all the headaches of mods .
Cool old truck. I would maintain it as is. You have Plenty of hot rods already. I have an '88 D-100 I bought new. I paid 10,100 with financing. Its a long WB with V-6 5 speed. If I park it where it can be seen from the road people will stop and ask if its for sale.
Honestly I'd just restore the body and drive it occasionally, after all look at the distance from the alternator to the water pump, it's obvious that someone who knew what they were doing owned that truck it's entire life, Thanks for sharing, can't wait to see what you do with it.👍👍🇺🇸🇺🇸
I had my grandfathers 1969 Chevelle 4 door in a light green color I don't like. He was more of a father to me then my dad ever was. A few years I sold it and came to regret it. I was lucky and bought it back a year ago. Long story short, don't ever sell your dads truck, you'll regret it.
Good video, my dad had a '75 D100 with same set up for almost 25yrs as his shop truck. I would stick a Holley avenger 2bbl on there and open the exhaust up to a 2.5in coming out the manifold. Other than that not much else you can do performance wise without tearing into the engine 🙂
Strange coincidence or not my friend had the same truck same color. I swapped a super 6 manifold and 2 barrel on it. He sold it or traded it in after having it a year or two.
@@NathansMoparGarage Yeah, I could try to verify. How long ago did you do that for your friend? Many times the exhaust manifolds crack, and people would go to the junk yard and it was easier to pull the intake manifold with the exhaust manifold and some swaps happen that way.
In my opinion, this Dodge truck generation is the pinacle of beautifull. Your Father was very wise and you should built your 400ci for when the slant-6 breaks down. In another 50 years maybe ? My 75 valiant as the original slant-6 and everyone yanning at me, put a 318, a 360ci, do the hemi swap... Im not a purist by any kind, i would even put a hook up on a 69 daytona if it's "necessairy" for my needs. "But" I wouldn't swap à perfectly running engine until it breaks down. And when my girls inherite my cars when I pass on, will my girls be able to afford gas in it????? If I really need to go fast, I would built another truck with that 400ci just for that! Right now my 79' Winibago as a 71' truck 318ci with coolant intake passage. It's torquy until 20 mph. LoL Im considering swapping a 360ci or a 5.7 hemi I have in a 2003 truck if Im going to pull a trailer and my car at the track. Your father's wisdom was simple. I need something that brings me back home safe and trouble free. Follow your heart, that's what you need to do! You had that 400ci in you mind for a while now, it's maybe the time to take it off your chest? Hahaha😊
Have any knowledge on connecting a lokar kickdown cable on one of these 2 barrels? Cant find anything online. I have not given up trying to make it work but this is making my brain hurt.
I have not used the lokar cables on a 2bbl, but I think you might have to get a little creative to make it work. Might not be any aftermarket support for the 2bbl set up.
