Claudia does age because a lot of aging is experiences. You live life, you learn lessons, they impact who you are. But physiologically, that brain and body are forever 14. She's always gonna have those those metabolism issues and those impulse issues.

Lestat is my problematic fav, but I still love watching you call him out on his shenanigans and drag him. He deserves all the smoke 😂 The actress who played Claudia killed it in the final scene. Tragic but unnerving at the same time.

Exactly it's okay to love Lestat doesn't mean he should get a past for being cruel. Yes, that was tough lesson that Claudia had to learn, but he didn't have to have her watch his face burn off of course. of course, she going to be unattracted to people after that.

I think Louis didn't turn her because like Claudia with Charlie it's hard them to not drink someone dry. Louis said the first time when Lestat drink from him it's takes a lot of strength to drink someone without killing them. But yeah, Louis told himself he did it to save her, which is true, but he also did for himself as well. But ... 13:31🤗

Emirati here 👋I'm pretty sure when Rashid said "Dubai is an infant" he was talking about after we became independent, which was in 1971 (so 51 years old this December, young compared to other countries) Great video!

@@shalayahomebodytv Dubai is a *city* located in the *country* of the United Arab Emirates. Dubai itself is not a country, though. Dubai is an emirate of the UEA. An emirate is a political territory that is ruled by a dynastic Arabic or Islamic monarch-styled emir. The modern developed Dubai that we know today *is* relatively new. The discovery of oil in 1966 led to the development of Dubai as we know it now. That's when the city was transformed from a small cluster of settlements near Dubai Creek to a modern port, city and commercial hub.

This episode of the show was a real pleasure to receive. It made me like and care about Claudia. That never happened in the books. I, or can I say we -I think this was the intention- cared about Louis, who cared about Claudia. We cared about the impact of Claudia on Lestat and Louis. Those of us with perhaps more enlightened hearts (not me) had some sympathy for her. But we saw her mostly as a horrible mistake with ongoing destructive influence and we feel great sympathy for Louis, and for Lestat, but not for Claudia herself. I can see many benefits now to making her an adolescent, as it enables us to connect with her on additional levels and gives her more humanity. Other book lovers - reactions/feelings about Claudia in the book vs. the show?

For me it was never like or dislike, her story was just tragic beginning to end and I felt for her in the books. It was also interesting to see how her parents were never able to understand her, so sad. And so didnt we. In later time she so clearly behaved as an adult, even calling Louis her lover and getting jealous when he fell in love with another. Show is so different, and although I like the take on her, for me it does not have the same impact. Tragic yes but she could be on her own if she choose to. But I liked the happy family illusion we got to see in this episode until it broke. It is easier to understand maybe in the show, because in the books there were so many layers with her story that might be difficult to portrait. Although I think the 94 movie did a good job in portraing her at a much younger age. I think we as readers and viewers were supposed to also never be able to understand her - she always was the ultimate outsider with no chance to real connection. She was the ultimate vampire because she forgot what it is like to be a human. Feeling empathy with her character is difficult, because she herself had none. She acted in cerain ways because she was taught this way or saw how others did it, she herself never felt it. In the end we were only connecting to her, for her tragic story and the love her parents had for her. In this you are right. I think this was the point in the books. Aging her up takes from her story a bit in that regard, she can have connections, even outside her family. It not being easy, lies not in her age but the vampire nature as such. The are vicious and would be even if she were like 20 ish. She is humanized but I do not like her better for it. Therefore I have a harder time connecting with this version, she is very entiteld (as teens are) but it does not feel earned. Claudia suffered for 65 years before she tried to break out and the realization of what was going on hit so much harder. Her anger was understandable - she earned it. This Claudia not so much, this is why they also needed to shift the whole story in the following episodes. I can enjoy it but I do not like it better. If you want another take on Claudia which is the original take - have a look at the comic, that was made just for her story - you may like her then.

This is one thing where I am not sure if i am happy with the direction they took with Claudia or not. On the one hand, she _does_ have her own struggles and being stuck in a Teenagers Body can _not_ be fun, but the Original Claudia was young. Like, _really_ young. When she started asking questions about sexuality, there was _no- good answer. This Claudia asked "Perverts or little boys" and I'm like, she can have someone in Charlies age range if she wants, she'll pass for older if she really wishes to. Original Claudia? no chance. Anyone who looked at her and thought sex was someone you did not want _anything_ to do with
@shalayahomebodytv
@shalayahomebodytv Год назад
True, but I feel like to much change might've changed the story to much. It's to bad they couldn't hire child actors in New Orleans, but I can understand not wanting to change the location.

thank you for your review. For me as a book reader I find it refreshing whatching people viewing this show with fresh eyes, cause you are able to pick up on other things where my mind as book reader is a little clouded tbh. And I do love your reviews - you are sharp and you are funny - so very good combination - me like 🙂 One more thing - many reviewers compare certain plot points with other shows/movies and it always stands out to me. You f.e. mentioned the Voltouries. Anne Rice is the Queen of vampires. Her books changed the whole look out on vampire lore and her ideas inspired everything that came after that and her book IWTV was in 73. Claudia was the ultimate first vampire child ( I mean real child, there were other (too) young ones but not like her) anyways her tragic live told was also a warning of never make one so young. This concept was taken by other writers, moviemakes etc. So no "the Voltouries already said that and do you not know Louis" ( I found your comment very funny, do not get me wrong). I just find it so interesting hearing people making sense of what is happining in the show by taking vampire lore from later times - that was basically invented by AR with her IWTV and the VC. Lestat, Louis and Claudia were the original toxic family. Talking of Originals - take them f.e. 80 % of their story line consist of lore straight out of AR, even the NO setting. Sorry I am a bit a nerd when it comes to that, it is not meant as a critique at all, it is just sometimes nerdy me notices. On another note - if you like Claudia - I absolutly recommend you look into the comic IWTV Claudias story - it is just a piece of art and absolutly beautyfull and heartbreaking.
@shalayahomebodytv
@shalayahomebodytv Год назад
No offense taken. I know alot of vamp lore comes from Queen Anne, I just like to compare how different authors write vampires.
@corpeter
@corpeter Год назад
@@shalayahomebodytv good I am glad. Cause love you and your reviews 🙂 I also do like comparing different views but since I grew up with Anne, I cannot not see her influence. And somehow I measure other writers if they can take her ideas further or not. But I do like different takes as well and I do not mind at all if they do have her ideas in there since she changed the whole genre. She will always be there in memory - she herself became immortal that way. I recommend Being Human UK (important UK!!)- it is a bit a different take on genres, and I liked it, well the first to seasons, 3 not so much... just if you have not seen it.

Excellent comment! I wrote something similar under another a post. Most of the current writers of vampires books and/or shows are huge fans of AR, and I enjoy seeing her influence in their work. I’m a book reader, period. I’ve read this entire series. I’m so here for this adaptation, reimagining or inspirational telling of these chronicles story. I absolutely love this show with the changes and all. I never knew that I wanted this Louis until Jacob. I always wanted Sam’s Lestat😂
