Thats such a huge point, "mentally stable" people dont understand. The depessing music does NOT make us depressed. It actually helps a lot. We dont feel alone, someone understands us. Went through similar things. Something to relate to, since we feel like we're some kind of alien because of the way we see things.
There is no actual music video for this song - Tyler had to fight with his label to even get it on the album due to the content - great reaction to a powerful song!
It's crazy pants too because this is the absolute most powerful and well written song on the whole album. It might be the most beautiful song they've ever written. And it was a fight to get it heard. Absurd.

I love the way he repeats "call, call, call". At first, it would only seem like it was a musical choice, but if you think about it, it's him saying "call for help, call the suicide hotline, call for someone to talk to. Just call...call...call, and don't go that way." It's too brilliant.
To me he's reprating it symbolizes that hr's thinking about ending it, that hos mind is saying "call" "call" "just do it" "end it" just because he says "neon graveatones try to call for my bones", a little dark but it's just what I got from it.
When this came out, I balled. I put it on repeat, cried, and painted until I no longer felt like crying. That was October 2018; husband died May 2018: sorry for those of you who’ve already read that last part about my husband. I’m not using it for sympathy, but, rather, context as to why I cried every-time I heard it. He didn’t commit Suicide, it’s the loss of him which made me cry.
At first, I thought it sounded lighthearted and kind of silly (I'm a bandito!) but then I listened, really listened, and, wow. It is a ride all by itself.
I’d love to see you react to Leave This City after this, also an incredibly emotional song from this album PS: River is such a beautiful name! I know you’re going to land on your feet coming out of this rough spell, but I hope you’re able to get some well-deserved sleep soon!
Self titled is first then Vessel 😉 Great reaction as well. I've suffered from anxiety my whole life. When I was a kid the word "anxiety" wasn't ever said. I was always called "shy" lol. Now that I know what I have it has made it so much easier to speak out about it to friends, family and coworkers. Especially when I digress into an episode. Thank you for keeping that awareness front and center. It is so important to know we are not alone 😊
Just wanted to take a moment to let you know how much I appreciate you and your perspectives on these videos. I am a fan of TOP but love to see someone else's perspective. The beauty of much of Tyler's music is that it meets so many where they are and means different things to different people. Thanks for what you do and Be Blessed and stay alive!
josh also struggles with anxiety, and in a recent interview he said that when he was having like a panick attack, he just went for a run and it really helped him. Josh is such an inspiration to me, i have anxiety as well and just see him now, and how much he grew it motivates me to keep going, because if he could do it, then all of us can too, never give up (sorry for my english)

This song is so deep. Amazing how an entire song about suicide can be written without ever mentioning suicide. Tyler just has a way with words that hits you hard. I love the whole melody behind this song as well. Self care is so vert important and I hope you do find a way back to running and getting the proper sleep! Babies are so great but your life can indeed turn upside down! I have raised 4 boys and have survived! 😂 keep up the great reactions. ❤️

Music should be able to speak the words of your inner world. They help us define the emotion that has been so hard to grasp but which ravages us and by doing so, the emotion loses its grip. Its naming the thing that possesses you and taking away its power.
This song threw me off as well the first time I heard it. All I can say was "oh my god," while absorbing every word. It started deep but every verse goes deeper and deeper. But again, it's so respectful that it didn't cause any controversy or hate. Let's admit it, a song like this could have been so problematic, but Twenty One Pilots managed to send their message perfectly. It's sad, but very eye-opening. This is about celebrity suicide, some think that maybe about what happened to Chester Bennington (he loved TOP, btw, even covered two of their songs). Sleep deprivation can be really awful, I've been there, when my child was small. I also had PND. Try to get some sleep when you can. Gongratulations for having a baby, although I'm 8 months late. :) Tyler has been really open about his struggles. His lyrics can be quite stirring, you can feel his pain. But he adds something in it, a happy melody or something. A bit of hope.

All three are from Vessel and are essential(really every one of their songs is essential but I suggest these three first). Loving the content btw, stay strong my friend, you valuing kindness to others will have an enormous impact on River in his life.
The healing empathetic power of music. It's saved many and pulled many away from from rash actions. Music has pulled me away from suicidal thoughts more than once. Music saves and music heals.
this is definitely the most important song tyler has ever put out, and he even had to fight with the label to keep it on the album. love it so so much. and live the crowd would always yell the NO right after "an earlier grave is an optional way" also i absolutely love the name river!! so cute
I also thought of Chester when I heard this song. The lyrics are so powerful in this one. More so when Tyler puts that thought in our heads that we could lose him to depression anyday, but then comes back with the "they won't get them" line to give us relief. For this one it was fine to do the lyrics video. From Trench there's only music videos for: Jumpsuit Nico and the Niners Levitate My Blood Chlorine The Hype Which you definitely SHOULD watch. The other official ones are lyrics video o just images. And now that you did this song, you should do Legend as a follow up, since there's like a connection between this two songs. Legend is also from Trench. I would say that before going back to the self titled, finish Trench off cause there's more surprises in it that you don't wanna miss. This is my suggestion: Legend (lyrics video) My Blood (official video) Chlorine (official video) The Hype (both the oficial video and the Berlin Session) And then just go to the self titled and do the whole album cause it will suck you in once you start listening to it.
I so appreciate that you share about your struggles openly. Congratulations on your sweet little River! I had post partem depression after all 3 of my babies were born, kicked in at about 3 months. I needed meds for a short time to make it through, which indicates how severe it was, since I avoid chemicals as a rule. There's nothing like watching your baby grow. I'm sure you've heard all kinds of advice about how to get babies to sleep through the night, so I won't add to that. I just want to encourage you that one of these nights little River will sleep for 6-8 hours straight and it will feel like heaven! Keep your head up man. With a global pandemic and having to stay home it’s easy to let thoughts get to you. This song speaks on so many levels and all of their music has helped me tremendously
The thing is everyone feels alone during their trials, but as you can see everyone goes through valleys and peaks. Some people are just good at hiding it, but it is important for people to talk about how important therapy is. Self care is super important and it is 100% part of the topic. Music is a saving grace. With the baby, have you tried a sound machine for the baby? There are so many tips and tricks for calming babies. He may be teething, there are homeopathic tablets for teething and colic. It worked wonders with my son. I sometimes had to put him in the car and drive around the block until he calmed. I so appreciate how open you are. It brings people together and opens up dialog. You are 100% here for a purpose friend.

When my son was born a few months after I started feeling empty, and there was one night when I was holding him before putting him to sleep i was sitting there holding him, i should of been thinking "look at my baby boy" "I love him" but instead I was thinking "well if I go to that forest and go to that tree no one will find me until the morning" and thats when I knew I was suffering from PND.
I hope you found a way to cope and deal with this. I have a feeling that you would not be speaking so candidly if you hadn't. That sounds like it was a very very low place to be. I didn't really have it because of giving birth. I think I had a bit when I had my last baby and realized it was my last baby. That was hard for me to get through. Just being here can be hard. The fact that we make it another day, every day, should be a celebration. I really hope you are better now.
Thanks guys, yea i was able to work through it via councillors / therapists etc, i just hope that even a small post from me about it gives others strength to speak about it.
I really enjoyed your breakdown and relation to this song. This song is so fucking powerful. One of my favorites they’ve ever written. Leave the city is another great song off of Trench. Hope that you can find time to heal and rest and get back to a good place :).
