when those japanese students took that picture with daft punk, they just thought it's a picture with a random streetperformer, they have no idea how jealous i am right now :(
They're so... innocent. They live beyond the mindset of rockstars or celebrities...They human. And they're so pure. And as long as they stay that way, so will their music be pure... I love those guys!
0:15 I.. I just.. I have no words for how amazing Thomas is. He's all over the place like "HAAAAAY :D" and Guy just looks unsure of Thomas/Japan/The world.
awesome. i love how these characters that they have created. no facial expression, but very unique from each other and their surroundings. it would be fun to make a feature length film with these characters.
ZOMFGWTFBBQ!!! My brain melts every time i see them!!! I'm so happy that they are doing all the music in the movie TRON LEGACY !!! I wish they will tour Australia soon :) They are the best!!!!!
if i saw Thomas walking down the street in that helmet... omg ...id go up and give him a huge hug!!!!!!! their accents and personalitys are so cute... and their music is amazing!
Their feature length live-action film was just released in paris a few weeks ago. It's called "Electroma". They also have "Interstella 5555", the animated video described in this interview.
The part at 4:02 when Thomas is leaning in Guy's shoulder is cute. Guy in general is adoreable though, kind of awkward, but you still just really want to hug him.
I've seen Daft Punk live once in BCN, at Summercase '06, and man.... it's AWESOME, the funniest concert in my life, I was jumping, singing and (robot)dancing about two hours. I've recorded two videos and I think is time to upload it....
They speak very good English for two guys who were born and raised in France. This proves that they are familiar with almost all types of cultures and backgrounds.
I haven't seen them live yet - im seeing them in about 20 days at Lolla. I've watched the videos though from Coachella and whatnot and never saw the light up helmets so the reason I thought they didn't (especially Thomas cause the lights are right where he needs to see out) was so they could perform and mix live
These two are the most important persons for the evolution of electronic dance music we know it now. All musicians like Guetta, Swedish House Mafia, Deadmau5, Gartner and almost every single producer of electronic music nowadays says. that he is influenced by Daft Punk music. Respect for them, and thanks for their music!
Actually it was a review for the first work from the rock band called Darlin' they had with Laurent Brancowitz. The melody maker magazine called the band "a bunch of daft punk". Hence, the name of this legend
@rizuliz Yep, in France, everybody caught up on the japanese anime and manga before any other countries, since the 70's. That's one of the reasons there's such a strong connection between the two countries. You can actually hear that influence a lot with Daft Punk or Justice.
@ulfjanson I know, but they still are the greatest, and I heard that the music score album for tron legacy will probalbly be relased november 23rd. im excited
Yeah, as far as I know, Electroma's storyline is based around a society of robots just like Thomas and Guy-Manuel who are looking for their human side. Check imdb for more info.
off course they can! there's a camera on the outside, connected to the screen on the inside in front of their eyes and the suits on their back are for the batteries...I think, at least they looked like they could see were they were going
Yeah I was thinking that too...for example in discovery Romanthony sings in Too Long and One more time, Todd Edwards in Face to face, Digital Love and Harder Better Faster Stronger are by Daft Punk... In harder better faster stronger you can feel french accent when it says Stronger (maybe it is just my impression :D). However I am not able to judge because most of the vocals are edited and mixed..;)
yeah he is the quieter one with the deeper voice. thomas talks for most of the interview. i wonder if guy's english isn't as good? ahhh, he is still so dreamy ^___^
@OSSART117 this was done back in the late 90s so its possible they weren't that popular amongst Japanese people back then....however you are kinda right about Japanese folks being more distant..I went to Tokyo last year and rode the subway to get everywhere, and even tho there was a bunch of us, loud and annoying art college students mixed in with the locals they never seemed to be annoyed or bothered and where just kinda like "......" yet the younger Japanese people aren't that way as much.
@mIsSJeSTR I am imagining that during the filming of this video, Guy-Manuel is blushing with embarrassment and giggling like a schoolboy underneath that helmet.
@TheOneartist that's true. but how can we not become dystopian in a society liek this one when you start off as pure and as filled with genius as these two were?
I think most people like the gold one because it has more colors, but it looks more like an astronaut helmet to me than a robot, which is why I kinda prefer the silver one... especially now that it has a few colors on the side too, plus it's smiling without the LED! : )
