#knifemaking, #daggermaking, #forging, #wireinlay,
Thank you for watching the video and thank you for the support.
This Dagger is made from 5160 spring steel, and Cherry wood handle. I know I'm not the best at wire inlay but I'll get better, also the diamond setting on the pommel was my first ever and disclaimer the diamond is made of plastic.

Great job and using just basic tools most of us have in our sheds, looking forward to trying some inlay work on my next project.

Matthew Jackson thank you for the feedback and I think you should try the inlay too. A few tips on that is search up hand engraving tool geometry and look for a little flat chisel that’s what I used. Also make it out of your hardest steel so it hold a edge.

Wow. Some skill here. Totally "inadequate" tooling and the end result is still beautiful. Subbed. Really hope to see more of this!

Really nice. I just finished my first sword, lots of work, so i'm going to make a bunch of daggers to go through all the steps faster. This is a style I will emulate, I like it.

Love the end result. But you could of save a lot of work by forging much closer to shape. This is more stock removal than forging. All you did was thin the metal under the anvil. But again the end result is awesome.

Good job but try forging the blade and bevels to shape then grinding, it's much faster and well worth learning 👍🏻

What is the blue stone in the end of the handle and how is it attached?
@LE-6920
@LE-6920 4 года назад
That's right that you make the blade in satin finish, but not in mirror. But the hilt (guard, efesus?) needs to make black (or dark grey) for contrast with the copper inlay. Or inlay must be dark.

What is the best primary bevel angle for a dagger?

I honestly just drew the dagger out in a way that it looks nice I don’t know what angle would be good.

I’m with you until you use the lacquer on the steel fittings. It gives them a cheap look. There are far better finishes you could use, like beeswax or furniture paste. I’m personally fond of renaissance wax.
