One of the Illinois Rip Chords competition songs for 2011! This was recored at our 2011 Spring Show. It is a Filipino love song that translates to 'Because of You" Featured Soloists: Meghan Kelleher and Maura Stanton
We actually did study other versions of this song and we even had someone who speaks the language come in and help with the pronunciations lol. We did the best we could!
Amanda Pearson Great choreography guys. I hope you also understand the meaning of the song. There's an English version of this song. Nat King Cole did sing the song.
The song is translated "because of you". This song is usually sung in weddings. If you know the lyrics, the hearfelt meaning is so deep. Lovely lovely song. Beautifully delivered! Thank you
Wow! so much respect to all of you Girls your Choir you made me cry, that's our Favorite old famous love song in our country, you're so amazing! Mabuhay, God bless you all hope to hear some more to your woderful group, more power to all of you Thank you so much.
Now I understand how melodious the songs from the Philippines are be it in the dialect (Tagalog, cebuano, ilonggo, etc) or in English... Thank you, guys! I am carried away ...
just wow, so unbelievably awesome, even after playing it repeatedly, still hits me crying, don't know why, been hearing this song since 1972 by other singers but only now made me cry.
Rosa Mellie Dela Cruz My lola also sung this to us as a lullaby. And that's why I grew up whistling its melodies when I am walking alone on long stretches of roads.
A wonderful rendition of the song Dahil sa iyo ( Because of you). I got goosebumps listening to these young beautiful American women singing Pilipino song. Ang galing!!
Yung mga nag dislike mga 2000s kid cguro yan, hindi natamasa ang panahong 70s80s to 1997.panahong hindi traffic/basura.panahong nasa classic era pa ng music.

Dahil Sa Iyo Sa buhay ko'y labis (In my life there's too much) Ang hirap at pasakit (Hardship and pain) Ng pusong umiibig (Of a heart {someone} that's in love) Mandi'y wala ng langit (As if there's no [more] heaven) At ng lumigaya (And when I was happy) Hinango mo sa dusa (You take me out of suffering) Tanging ikaw, sinta (You are the only one, my love) Ang aking pag-asa (Is my only hope) Dahil sa `yo nais kong mabuhay (Because of you, I want to live) Dahil sa `yo hanggang mamatay (Because of you, until I die) Dapat mong tanungin (You should ask {me}) Wala ng ibang giliw (There's no other love) Puso ko'y tanungin (Ask my heart) Ikaw at ikaw rin (It is you and you/It is always you) Dahil sa `yo ako'y lumigaya (Because of you, I became happy) Pagmamahal ay alayan ka (The love I offer you} Kung tunay man ako (If I am true) Ay alipinin mo (Then enslave me) Ang lahat sa buhay ko'y (Everything in my life) Dahil sa `yo (Because of you) (see previous translation) Dahil sa `yo nais kong mabuhay Dahil sa `yo hanggang mamatay Dapat mong tanungin Wala ng ibang giliw Puso ko'y tanungin Ikaw at ikaw rin Dahil sa `yo ako'y lumigaya Pagmamahal ay alayan ka Kung tunay man ako Ay alipinin mo Ang lahat sa buhay ko'y Dahil sa `yo
this is the Love Theme song of late Pres. Ferdinand Marcos and Mdm First Lady Imelda R. Marcos .. the very meaningful song and till the end they proved their love for each other .. now madam Imelda is 92 years old still her husband's love is in her heart, holding the faith to keep her promise for him that his Last Will and TEstament will be fulfilled.
Just to chime in: the part Dapat mong tanungin" should be "Dapat mong TANTUIN" (You should know). It is also hard to separate the lines "Kung tunay man ako" and " Ay alipinin mo" because together they form a clause: "If you would really enslave me" (then), "Everything in my life" (is) "Because of you". Thanks for taking the time to translate this.
It's wonderful to hear American young ladies singing our kundiMan song DAHIL SA IYO. But what a shame our very own young Filipina women and filipino men doesn't sing them anymore.
Talented beautiful lady they could be a guest singers at the opening ceremony of the 2019 ASEAN GAMES, thank you for this very beautiful video of an American Choir's greatest singing performance of a Filipino song dahil sayo.
As a Filipino, am amazed for that wonderful blending of your voices guys. I look forward with more of your performance in the future, many thanks, I appreciate...
Thank you. Mabuhay. I think ex First Lady Imelda Marcos sang this with Andy Williams at the Philippine Convention Centre in the 1970s. Now you can tell how old I am!
Wow, this is great! You did a good job! This song is a part of our culture as Filipino, this version is very beautiful, I really like it! Mabuhay kayo! 😊💕
Very heart warming song, beautiful young ladies! Thank you, I only hope you know the meaning of the lyrics, because it is a song that emanates from a deep love between two sweethearts. The song professes that the love will endure no matter the barrier or hardships they are facing or will ever face.
This song brought a lot of memories. Being sang by others specially touched my heart as they interpret this song. Music is indeed the voice of the soul. Thanks---JB
This song was a theme song of a Tagalog movie entitled IGOROTA starring the famous CHARITO SOLIS. The song was originally sung by the famous PILITA CORALES.
Omg!,you let me cry here in Germany! I miss my country upon listening this music! Thank you so much for singing and learning our music..:) I know I'm home even though I'm far.! God bless!:)
