This is for anyone that’s struggling to make the mods work together- I have spent over 18 HOURS trying to make them work 😭😭😭 I have found that it’s crucial to make sure mod types don’t overlap. So if you have a frosty mod editing a complexion, you can’t have a daimod editing hair, whether it’s for a companion or the inquisitor. That goes for mods that edit terrain, damage or armour. So make sure each mod type only is modding one thing and doesn’t overlap.
@@OMsRandomWriter unfortunately probably not, DAI was made on an engine built for live service FPS so getting the game and DLCs to work without even a single mod is an issue.
Returning to DAI for the first time since it came out, I decided to try modding - but it's pretty intimidating! This video is an absolute gem, thank you
Played Dai 1st time on potato pc lowest spec couldn't appreciate the mods but now.... BUT NOW!!!!!! armed with an Rtx2060 totally loving everything I installed cough cough Elven Hair & Body mod ☺
Your instructions are wonderful and you're very well spoken! I got my mods to work beautiful after struggling for two days to get them all to work. Your responses to the comments are great, too. I was still having trouble but all I had to do was scroll through the comments and follow your suggestions. Thank you so much!
I love this bc it is so timely. Once I'm done with my Mass Effect/MEA replay I'm returning to DAI and I'm adding some Frosty mods. Bless you for this, it's super helpful. Honestly, your channel is making self isolation more bearable. Esp. your BioWare related stuff. I'd LOVE to see a Mass Effect (And MEA) LP, if you are so inclined.
woha this was hella helpful! the last several tutorials i tried over the last few months didn't work, this was clear step by step and the talking helped, a lot just have silence with a mouse moving around the screen. thank you for a well presented video that made this whole process 100% smooth!
I'm new to the DA series I just found out about the game yesterday ( I know I'm pretty late) but your channel has been so helpful. you got my subscription. Thank you so much for all of the help.
Funny, I'm Spanish and I had to come here because the videos of people who speak my language are not understandable or they speak a lot. This video was all I needed to understand what I was missing, thank you
Seems my comment disappeared; turns out I hadn't enabled DAI to start through Frostys. Although I clicked launch in Frostys, it still launched through the EA client. When I checked "Platform Launching Enabled" it works. Thanks for the vid :D It was super helpful; I'm normally a massive dunce with this kind of thing, but I felt like I could do it thanks to your vid.
Thank you for this video, and for the other two about DAI Mod Manager and Frosty ! I am obsessed with installing mods on whatever games I can, and now DA:I is one of them. It's great that your tutorials are very clear and thorough, now I don't have to fear about irredeemably breaking my game ! ;D
YOURE A LIFESAVER. Thank you so much. This helped with eliminating the present issues I was facing as well as addressing any things I didn’t know. Another video of yours also helped with actually setting frosty up properly and assuring what I did was correct. Thank you so much.
Thank you so much! God I'm two days already trying make the two work. My .DAI mods always works, but the ones for frosty never, guess I know the problem now. You're a lifesaver.
Thank you SO much for this video (and the two related frosty and dai mod videos). I played DAI on console when it first came out and for the longest time, have wanted to replay it with mods on PC. However, because of all the fiddling around, it seemed way too intimidating to give it a go. I'm so glad I cam across your videos: Thanks to you (and some very talented modders) I have finally been able to create an attractive inquisitor! 😂🤣
omg thank you so much for these videos, I was beyond lost coming back to the game and trying to mod, and there are like 2 different managers and it made my brain hurt. Thank you for making these tutorials
Thanks so much for making the videos! I finished the DA series so far on PS3/PS4 and finally got DAI yesterday on my PC so I can play with mods. MA:A requires more RAM then my laptop can hold, but DAI should work just fine. Thanks again! :D
Oh my lord! Thank you! I couldn't figure out for life of me why is my Frosty not applying mods to the game and it was all about this damn Patch folder thing...
THANK YOU SO MUCH! I love DAI and it's been 5+ years since I completed and fired up the game again. Just built a new rig and thought with DA4 in the works, it was time to give it another go with some quality of life and retexture mods (some of which you've recommended). I've modded plenty of games in the past but I must have spent a whole day looking for mods and trying to get Frosty working with DAI with only partial luck. Your tutorial worked beautifully and the game looks amazing now. (♥ω♥ ) ~♪
So I followed the instructions and it worked. Only issues is that the loads times have greatly increased. Even fast traveling within Skyhold takes five times as long.
Glad to see it’s been working for everyone, I starting yesterday decided to branch out to frosty mod’s and followed this tutorial exactly. Only issue is that now only the frosty mods are launching and all my .DAI mods are none existent. Anyone have any tips?
It sounds like you skipped the patch folder step - you need to make sure you have a backup copy of your OG patch folder. Delete it, Then take the other patch folder in there that daimods crated and rename it to patch.
I can’t delete either patch after merging... It seems the DAI mod manager needs both patch files to function. Have also tried re-downloading the DAI mod manager :/
You only need to use the dai mod manager to re merge mods - if that’s the case you need Install the clean patch file and repeat the steps! Then merge your patch folder like mentioned in the video and you’re good to launch your game! Otherwise you’ll only need to launch the game either through frosty or just as normal through origin/steam!
Hi, so I go through all the steps click on launch in frosty, and it starts applying the mods but the bar stops moving just short of the end. I've waited 30 mins for that last touch to load before giving up. Do I just need to wait longer? Is there something I'm doing wrong? I can launch the game just fine through frosty as long as no frosty mods are applied and all my .dai mods work fine, but for some reason it just doesn't work when I try to start applying frosty mods. I've started with just trying to add one frosty mod. The frosty mods also work fine and load fine with no .dai mods. If you have any ideas or suggestions I'd greatly appreciate it.
I started with frozy and followed each step of the previous tutorial, but the mods don't work even though the game opens normally through the frozy launch.
lovely guide! i got the process down but the mods arent showing, however i believe it may be something i did with pathing or the fact that dragon age inquisition launches through origin not steam
I will try modding whit both thankx for the help. Edit: progress since than modded on some new skills but only left one on that modifies flashfire and a bunch of companion upgrades(dorian,bw, Cullen, Jose, oh and Morigan) also found a nice hairmod and a pj replacer wich than ruined my whole night as i was trying to figure out why i get infinite loading and i did not suspect that damn pj replacer.........now everything works fine.
Great videos on modding. I've been using DAI mods but decided to try frosty also. The only issue I encounter (regardless of DAI or Frosty) is hair mods. The hair shows up just fine in the creation and the first cut scene, but after that the hair goes back to vanilla the moment you get control of your character. I've tried the same DAI hair mod you use (the ponytail) and a Frosty hair mod. I encounter the same issue with both. Do you have any ideas?
Awesome tutorial! I’ve tried modding with your instructions and everything is fine at the begging but I get infinite black load screen when going to the hinterlands. Any fixes?
It worked for me thank you. Just to confirm, if I want to add more mods at some point would it be better if I just used Frosty so I wouldn't need to change or delete any more files?
It's totally up to you! If it's easier to just mess with frosty at this point then just stick with that! If you do decide to mess around with .dai mods again I'd suggest having a few you want to install at once so it's a little less of a hassle!
Damn never found modding being this complicated like in this occasion. It's as if the autors of DAIMM and Frosty tried their best to make things complicated. They should all learn from RE2 Remake modding. I never found an easier modding process than in RE2 Remake, honestly.
Hi, I followed all of the steps for your tutorial, but the issue I am running into is that the version of DA:I that I am using is the new Steam version, which uses an "Origin Lite" mechanic. Origin is still downloaded to my computer, and I still have to log in, but the game is running through Steam. When I try and launch the game through the FMM with mods enabled, it seems like the program doesn't know how to differentiate between versions. It is trying to launch the game through Origin, but of course that doesn't work, because the game has to go through Steam. I have not been able to get Frosty mods to work at all with the Steam version, although DAI mods work just fine. Any suggestions?
I've seen it suggested that if you're trying to run Frosty Mods through the steam version you *have* to make sure you're not in origin *at all* -- like go into your task manager and make sure origin helper, origin, everything origin related is shut down -- and that should allow it to launch? I have no idea if it'll work but that's just what I've heard! Could be worth a try!
Thank you for this very helpful information. Although I have some issues modding when it comes to hairstyles. Using the Frosty Manager, I can't make the hairstyle work, I loaded one of my save files without any mods in it, the slider and the hairstyle are appearing very well, but once I play the saves with the Daimod in it, the hairstyles and the slider don't seem to work at all. Is there any steps that I am missing? Is there a way for me to fix it, because I don't wanna go through the customization of my character and go back from the start just to apply a mod hair. Thank you so much! ❤
hello! thank you so much for the tutorials, these are the most helpful ones I’ve found so far. i was just wondering if it works the same way with a Steam version of the game as it’s my first time downloading the mods and playing Inquisition on my PC so I want to be sure.
Food Then Games thank you!! the thing is that I’m currently having trouble with frosty and I thought I’ve just installed it incorrectly but turns out the problem might occur because of a steam version of the game :(
I had a single frosty Mod installed and it worked. Then I uninstalled it, did everything step by step like the video and reinstalled it. The .dai Mods seem to work fine, but the frosty Mod won't load. I've tried un- and reinstalling it, merging the dai ones with or without it installed (every time cleaning patch in between) and deleted the ModData folder countless times. The frosty Mod in question is the one that let's you use the sprint-key in Singleplayer and since I've had it before I'm used to it by now and it's really weird not having it. :( Would appreciate any and all help. Thanks And regardless of my incompetence, thank you so much for your great videos and the time spent on them.
I have to try this later i had problems with Dai and not all mods working will try this, i just want to play Dragon age with a facelift its been so long since playing.
I'm wonering if you've had a chance to try an update with Frosty that allows you to drag and drop .DAI mods into the Frosty Mod Manager and if it works as well as I've heard.
I've played around with that a little and have had friends do the same -- most have good luck with it while there are still some mods that aren'y going to play nice no matter what. I presonally am still using both DAI + Frosty mods to mod as I find it to be safer all the way around!
Wondering why this doesn't work with later versions of Frosty? 1.0.5.9 doesn't seem to allow the Frosty mods to take effect... It will run the DAI mods from the new Patch folder but that's it...
Hey! Thanks for this video. I've been using DAIMODs for a while now, and I want to use Frosty because of some really good mods I've been seeing lately. Maybe you can give me a suggestion on a problem I'm having? I watched this video and your other on installing Frosty Mod, followed all the steps you outlined (very clearly btw, thank you for that :3), and yet I can't get Frosty to launch DAI. It will launch normally through Origin, I disable my anti-v shields so the game can launch, run Frosty as an admin, run Origins in compatibility mode, but despite all my attempts Frosty will only open Origins. When it does, Origins acts like it does whenever I forget to lower my antivirus shields (not launching the game but acting like it did for two seconds). I spent an hour or two trying to troubleshoot this, but my attempts have failed. Do you have a suggestion as to what the problem might be? If all else fails, I'll just play using only DAIMOD and live without Frosty. xD But if you can give me any help with this, I'd appreciate it. Thanks again for your tutorials!
Hey, dunno if you ever solved this but I'm having the exact same issue. I watched all the tutorial vids (which are really good!) but Frosty just won't launch the game, it just redirects to Origin.
I've read through forums that you need to delete de ModData folder everytime you launch the game (for stability purposes). It's that truly necessary? Or can I suit myself with deleting it only when I update my mod list?
Hi Complex. Thanks for the awesome tutorials for both .DAIMods and Frosty. I'm trying to run both the mod engines and my .DAImods aren't giving any issues. However When opening up Frosty and installing the Northern Lights mod with the optional Purple Sand mod, it gives me a conflict. Are these two mods just not compatible? Or am I doing something wrong (I have no other frosty mods installed). Thanks for the help! Frosty also crashes when I add "Enhanced Character Creation COMPLETE - Frosty" xDxDxD (maybe I'm just really bad at this xD). PS: Sorry I'm so late to the party, I really hope you see this xD Edit: It seems that as soon as I have more than one mod it tells me there's a conflict xD Edit 2: After some trial and error, I've come to the conclusion that when Frosty says there's a conflict, it really doesn't matter because the game runs smoothly and all the mods work perfectly. So I suppose at the end of the day, this comment is now irrelevant. xDxDxD Have a good day =]
I did it step by step as you show in your video, but the DAI Mod Manager says all the way, that something is not right with the patch folder and I have to repair the game. Also deleting the frosty mods as you show, launching the game and the folder comes back right away. Idk what I'm doing wrong
The folder should come back! It's more just to set/clear it so it can refresh it! if DAI is saying something isn't right with the patch folder then that's still the merged one and not a clean patch folder! You have to swap it out everytime you want to update DAI mods if you're doing that + frosty modding at the same time!
Great video. I decided few days ago to start DAI once again but i am trying to mod it for the first time .I downloaded frosty mod manager but when i click the frostmodmanager.exe , it doesnt launch . Does anyone have any solutions to this problem ? Any help is welcomed
Keep getting a message in the DAI Mod Merger that says “The official path folder contains a merged mod manager patch. Please restore the official patch to the correct location, or use ‘Repair Game’ in Origin to correct it.” Is there anyway you can tell me what this means or where I went wrong?
It sounds like you haven't replaced your patch folder with a clean one! Delete your patch folder and replace it with your clean back up one! If you don't have a clean one you'll need to repair your game so it re-gives it to you!
When I download the Black Emporium dlc and run it as an origin, the Black Emporium appears on the war table, but when I turn on Frosty Mode Manager, the Black Emporium does not appear on the war table. I deleted all the mods because I thought there was a mode conflict, and after installing it again, I didn't apply any mods, even Korean patches, and I played the game with the mod manager, but Black Emporium didn't apply.I've been suffering from this for days. Is there a way?
Hello! I just wanted to drop a request for a similar video but maybe for DAO or DA2 as well? I am completely completely completely new to modding and have no clue what I'm doing (these games are the reason why I am going to buy a gaming laptop!!!) so even pointing me to somewhere where I could get my hand held gently would be incredible. Where to begin is very intimidating.
I wish I never tried this, because I cannot start the game anymore. Frosty doesnt launch the game, even though I reset the patch folder, deleted all the .dai mods... I even tried downloading frosty again and redoing everything, but it seems I have to reinstall DAI as well.
For some reason the Moddata folder keeps popping up after i launch through frosty. The DAI mods are working, but I cant seem to get the frosty ones too. That folder popping up is the only weird thing I noticed.
The folder is supposed to be there! You can delete it and relaunch as a reset of sorts to sometimes force everything to load! The only thing I can think of is it’s either an issue with the patch folder or if you haven’t yet you might need the latest version of frosty available on their discord!
Hey hope someone can help me with this, but I did all the steps from the video. And the game loads compleetly fine (including the mods I have on frosty) but for some reason my DAI mods don't work. How can I fix this?
@@FoodThenGames Yeah something went wrong with the merge! But managed to fix it shortly after when I noticed \o/ Thank you for the tutorial, very well explained, never modded this game before and I'm used to modding skyrim >
I did all this and everything went well and nothing froze or loaded infinitely BUT my dai mods don’t load in. I don’t know why! I’ve followed step by step but they just don’t show up even thought I’m using the merge patch with frosty
question, how would you know if winter in thedas works? do you have to make a new game or can you continue from a game you already have? Cause Idk if I went wrong somewhere but winter in thedas isn't working for me
So Leaving this here for anyone who has ea and origins. If you have DAI installed through origins and then go launch through frosty, Itll pop open EA. I think Eventually origins will be obsolete, Save urself the trouble just use EA
