You are my saver now. All the other videos about this topic are so useless or complicated when it useful, but yours is very short and clear. Thank you so much, I've been searching for this for 3 hours.
If needing a perfect looping walk cycle from mixamo in Blender 2.9 then import mixamo animation to Blender, Select the armature in Object mode, Go to the Animation window which brings up the timeline and animation keys for the mixamo animation, select all the animation keys for the mixamo file in the timeline. Move the timeline scrubber to 10 keyframes after the last keyframe after the animation ends and paste the copied keyframes from the walk cycle THEN IMPORTANT move the copied keyframes to the left so that the beginning of the second walk cycle begins at the last keyframe of the previous and paste. Repeat as much times as needed to give your walk cycle. Enjoy. Paste beginning walk cycle keyframe and keyframes to overwrite the last keyframe of the walk cycle animation and repeat as needed. Results in smooth animation from keyframe walk to walk.
The last step isn't producing the results you show. The character keeps jumping back at the end of each walk cycle and the forward movement does not match the stride distance.
I think this doesn't work. The character always move realtive to the empty. So if you move the empty you will modify the walking distance. How do you set the restart position with no distorsion of the movement?
Hi, thanks for the tutorial, it is amazing! One thing, it appears that Mixamo has a very limited number of animations with the 'In Place' option. Is there any possibility in Blender to fix the animations that do not have this option?
Thank you. Hmm, well normally you only really need this with walk cycles ... I guess you could add an empty to parent the armature to and then animate the empty it in the opposite direction of the armature? I'm not really sure if that would work, but I guess it's worth a try.
Hi! Thank you so much for this tips! Do you know how to combine turn + walk on NLA editor? The issue is that when the characters turns and start to walk it rotates to the original position. Changing the option of Holding in the NLA doesn't seem to work in this case. Thanks!!
Same here. 2.93 now. Dont know where that menu is. Its not in the "N" panel. Edit: Ahhhh, I see it now once I select the walk animation in the graph. Yes....
Press "N" and that should open it up, on the right there should be tabs with one of them being tittles "Stip" click on that and scroll to the bottom to see where he currently is at.
But, for some reason that does not work at all on my M1 iMac (stock)...If I ever figure it out I'll be sure to share. The trepeat button does not work at all, is it my comp...lol
This is great. Question - Can you string multiple animations from Mixamo together and blend them into each other? For example: Start with an idle animation, then blend into a walk cycle, then blend into a jump animation - Using the animations from Mixamo. Is this possible?
I am trying to combine a walk cycle animation and the stop walking animation. But I can'^t blend both animation each other. How can I offset and blend the stop animation after cycle animation. When I switch the Stop Walking animation, the character goes back to the origin.
Fantastic tutorial but I'm watching this on desktop and damn do I hate that I can't rewind or fullscreen shorts like this. It's 100% youtube's fault but gosh is it annoying for a tutorial. Edit: I just went and got a chrome extension called RU-vid-shorts block and it works like a charm
In Object Mode, select the Circle Empty and then hold Shift and also select the Armature (not any individual bones, it has to be in Object Mode) and press Ctrl+P for the parenting menu. Thoose Object.
First of all great tutorial! I love it! I followed it and I get this effect that when the character is actually moving, the timing of the walk animation is not in sync with the movement of the empty circle, so I get this effect where the character is sliding on the floor surface, like Michael Jackson moonwalk. Can you tell me how can I effectively sync the walk animation with the movement? Thanks
@@BlenderSecrets let say if I want to repeat walking forward 3 times.when second repeat, it start from teh beginning. How to make it just move forward??
The character walks in place, instead of moving forward. It's easier to control the direction of the character (for example following a path) if he walks in place and is parented to an empty.
Do you mean the graph editor or dope sheet or something? In Blender you can change any window type to a different window type, just click on the Editor Type icon in the top left corner of any window.
Haha try having to update a 1000+ page plus ebook on a daily basis 😅 I know what you mean. So I depend partially on people letting me know if something's no longer up-to-date. Does this tutorial no longer work?
Press "N" and that should open it up, on the right there should be tabs with one of them being tittles "Strip" click on that and scroll to the bottom to see where he currently is at. this tutorial is still working today.
@@BlenderSecrets There are several UI changes here. After creating an action, I had to press "N" to get the tab to show up. The name has been moved above the "Active Strip" section. Repeat has been moved to under "Action Clip".
This is why Blender makes you bang your head against the wall, every tutorial out there is useless because with every update Blender changes where buttons and menus are. I hit the pushdown action but now I have none of the menu items you have, no where to name it, no scale to control speed. Excuse me while I go slam my head against a cement wall !!!
