Be careful not to decimate the keyframes too much. Overall it works great, but at contacts points (e.g. the feet) you will introduce a lot of wobbling (as seen in 0:17). You could fix this by adding a new IK contraint to the feet and replanting them afterwards. However, I would suggest animations layers (or manual NLA-strips) to add an offset to the animation of the upperleg. This gives you more control and keeps the original animation intact.
I know I'm 2 years late, but still - I use the redneck engineering way - I add an empty and then parent the bone I need to that empty. Then, I animate the empty the way I want, and return it to its original location once I don't need it. Redneck engineering, yeah, but at least it's not as complicated as NLA.
All of my videos are in playlists (in their original form) www.youtube.com/@BlenderSecrets/playlists for example this video is in this playlist: ru-vid.com/group/PLrB1kuJIjcg5p5rp38MV-TKYP8x4jG8-x
Hi i hope it's not too late but this work for everyvideo ,in the link ,REPLACE SHORT BY "watch" then enter and your short is open in normal video and you can pause and all
Thank you so much for this video!!! If I wanted to take a walking animation from Maximo but then lock the head and the arms to the default location(frame 0 before the animation plays ) but also maintain the inverse kinematic look, how would I accomplish that?
I might it might be a little easier, and maybe a little better, to use layered animations to tweak the positions of the bones. So you don't have to decimate the keyframes and sacrifice any of the details in the animation
Just push the action down in the NLA. Hit the N key and create new action then change blending to combine.. Keyframe the adjustments. Takes about 1 minute or less and you don't have to decimate your animation. Thanks for this method though. Each way may have benefits in various scenarios so Its always good to know multiple ways to do things.
I think Blending only works for blending in and out, like a fade in or out, not as a way to layer animation, or am i wrong? I thought you needed an add-on for animation layering.
@@BlenderSecrets In older versions it didn't work like you would think and there were add ons.. Maybe a year ago in 2.8 they fixed the way actions combine. Go fire up blender and give it a shot.
@@mikealbert728 An add-on just came out a week ago to do animation layers. I don't think it works very well out of the box, but if it does, can you point me to some documentation? Anyway that add-on is pretty cheap, less than 20 $ I think.
@@BlenderSecrets I made a video real quick of it. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-GvuHZ5RlU1Q.html Not sure how it compares to the addon but the functionality seems fine to me.
How to copy mixamo animation to existing blender armature or how to combine multiple mixamo armature animation like walking then running and then sit down?
@@BlenderSecrets I have a small tutorial about retargeting animations in Blender here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-2GSzn7qkE7Y.html And a more detailed description here: connect.unity.com/p/retargeting-animations-with-blender-2-80
@@MichaelMusson-en7be I've never touched the NLA (had to look it up to see what you were talking about). Looks like I have another rabbit hole to jump down.
Sorry for asking my question here , not on the related topic. But I need to find a solution to stack many UVs in Blender for texture atlas workflow . Selection to cursor (keep offset) is very slow method . If there is any automated way to do this in blender ? May be there is a plugin ?
You can rig a character online on Mixamo, no need to rig it after that as it's automatic. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-TeNVS1bmwBw.html Of course you can rig anything manually if you want.
It's in the description of every video. If you want to buy the book there's currently a discount, you can find the link at the top in my Linktree linktr.ee/JanVanDenHemel
@@BlenderSecrets Got it with another e-mail thanx. I used an e-mail address other that the one I have for RU-vid. that may have been the problem. Thank you anyway.
