I got an 04 in 2020. It is the best car for my needs cos it’s fast and the revs have little pops. So if you’re a high school student looking for you first car I suggest you get one soon

I've got the 06 r53, I love it to bits, it's happiness in a car.

I have a 2003 R53 Cooper S with about 65,000 miles on it. It has probably been the most reliable car I've owned in the last 27 years. Its last major service was 10 years ago. New plastic coolant header tank required soon after purchase due to a hairline crack in the original one (common fault). Power steering pump failure (common fault). I drove it for a year with no power steering (not recommended) before getting it fixed. Central locking has failed. The standard heavy 17x7" wheels and godawful runflat tyres were terrible for ride quality and handling on badly surfaced roads. I changed them for 16x7" wheels and normal 205/50/16 tyres with a couple of cans of Holts Tyre Weld kept in the back of the car at all times. The standard sports seats don't offer enough side support for very hard cornering but are comfortable and adequate for normal 'spirited driving'. I've had the car for 13 years and even though I could afford something far 'better', I just can't bring myself to get rid of it. It's not perfect, but it has real character and offers a lot of fun for not much money.

I have a 2006 R53 modded with 220bhp dyno proven and 0-60mph is probably less than 6 seconds! I got a satalite tracking and timing at 6.1 seconds when I had 195bhp!

“Can be expensive to repair these things.” Such general nonsense. Parts for this car are extremely cheap and they are easy to work on.

Live my r53 its been a good daily. Doesnt cost much to boost it either. Pully intake exhaust will get you up in the 200hp. Mine flys pulls like a fkin train from 90 up it pulls hard and builds speed fast

Just got a 03 plate 75k miles like you said probably hard miles but it was as you said 1500 pounds haha xD full leather and British racing green. Engine is mint could do with bits doing fan belt ect but for 1500 I just got a little rocket it's amazing.

6.3 is it? Do a few mods good tyres and it will do it quicker than that

Only 163hp !!! Mine 2003 R53 51000 miles and it's mint. 17% reduction , airtec intercooler, Magna flow cat back exhaust, Goes like a bastard when I want it to.
