I really feel for Andy trying to work through this situation in his head to understand what is happening. I hope for his well-being lockdown ends soon so he can get back to his routine. ❤️
Kevin and Anna you have so much patience and love, Andy is a lucky young man and the love he shows back is so great to see. These times are tough but your love for each other will bring you through the other side xxxx
I’m on the spectrum myself, and it’s been super difficult. I live in the US, and I’m a high school senior, but they decided to permanently discontinue school, and now I have to finish my assignments online. I’m not sure if I’ll even have a ceremony, but my anxiety has been sky high just like you, Andy. Hopefully you’ll feel awesome once things get back to normal ❤️
I was told by 111 when we self isolated it’s 7days if live alone buy 14days if live in a family because new symtoms take upto 14days to show themselves I to had to stay off work for 14days because of this
It’s 14 days for the entire household until they present symptoms. Once they do, they have their own 7 day isolation that supersedes the household 14 day one. After 7 days, if symptoms are gone, self isolation for that person can end.
Hi Andy it's ok I have meltdowns to, once I got really mad but my EP gave me a stress reliever it's Like a caterpillar one it's so cool, maybe you can get Andy a stretchy caterpillar
We’ve had lots of meltdowns here also, the lack of routine and structure is really tough. The first few weeks were hard getting use to the new normal but the longer it’s gone on the more out of control she’s gotten. We’ve had daily sometimes for several hours at a time and a number of times each day of screaming and shouting and hitting and banging on the doors and walls and now she’s not wanting to engage in any activities at home either so I’m struggling to actually find things for her to do to engage and entertain her
I had a meltdown at school in September and was then given a 10 day suspension, permanent reduced timetable and reduced GCSEs. I am in mainstream and am in Y10, now I've lost 1/3 of my GCSE time.
I have autism also and im happy when I go to the crossing at Sutton train station to see the darts, I seen 2 darts today I was so happy. I live in Dublin.
I’ve been watching the shows must go on RU-vid livestreams as they show a musical every week!! Last week was Phantom Of The Opera!! This week is love Never Dies!! Something for Andy that my mum has been printing off for me is some colouring Disney sheets which I’m loving!!
I have to say that it was a great bit of news when the Government said that people with learning disabilities and autism can go on more than one trip of exercise.
We're on day 28 I think and today Wass tv 2 smashed , wishing everyone in the comments the best of luck during this very difficult time where all our hard work establishing routines as been torn up . Good vlog Kev, this long one helped me chill .Adam
Do I hear a deep voice?? All I can say is from my experience is being moody ( having teeming mood swings through puberty) and autism don’t mix. But of course you Guys know Andy well and everyone’s different. Best of luck and keep safe
@andychapman it's really difficult in terms of schooling. I work in a special needs school and we have to balance the safety of pupils as well as the safety of staff. Staff sickness is obviously high. We have extremely vulnerable and high risk pupils and staff as well as staff with children themselves who can't work as their schools wont have their children in! We are, I know, working on an absolute minimum of staff. I know it's super frustrating but it must be an absolute nightmare for whoever is doing the logistics at Andy's school. I hope the rest of lockdown gets a little easier for you all xx
I have high functioning Autism and I am starting to get triggered easier at my siblings because of the lack of face to face social interaction and not being able to leave the house
Aw Andy 😟 it’s so hard for everyone so can’t imagine what it’s like for an autistic person. My brother has autism and can not understand his change of routine, he keeps searching for a magic wand and a magician to get rid of what is happening. Heartbreaking 💔
I've been struggling, so I'm not surprised Andy isn't doing well with it. Missing his churches and trams, that was part of his routine, so I'm not surprised the meltdowns are happening.
Hi kev lovely video as always I'm so sorry to hear how difficult it's been for Andy with this lockdown I really feel for him and for you all too you and Anna are brilliant trying your very best to keep him happy I hope things get better for you all take care keep safe 🙂👍🏻
Hope Andy has a good week at school! Our orders to stay at home were extended until May 8th, and school will not resume until August. We are in PA USA.
The “white things” are artificial fertiliser. They are comprised of a mixture of urea, phosphate, nitrate and ammonium to make up the fertiliser compound.
I think on the bit I'm watching then the Schools correct with what you've said at 23.30. It's tough for everyone be it young or old and I think Keyworker children are the only ones that should be going to school
Here in Philadelphia PA USA our schools will be closed for the rest of the school year and we are still on lockdown we have no idea when everything will go back to normal.
They say May 8th, but Yeah, I don't think it will be back to normal for quite some time, if even we get out of lockdown then. Each week my motivation to do all this homeschool and teletherapy stuff dwindles a little more.
I have adhd a hate charge but I have already did 6 weeks 6 more to go but can't wait to see my friends and teachers again and I find your videos helpful keep safe
it was strangely surreal watching that train, I'm assuming thats one of the trains that goes from Notts to Peterborough and it just so freaking strange to see it empty when every couple of moths I stand on that crowded with my life in a bag on the way to and from uni 🤯😬
Here in Ireland, the minister of health declared Autistic people as vulnerable people under our lockdown legislation and they are allowed to leave their 2km zone for routine maintenance purposes (Or church visiting) . I can't see why the tories haven't followed suit.
I’m a Arable Contractor, Not from your local area but the little white pellets that are all over the field is artificial fertiliser which the farmer has spread on the field to increase the yield of his crop and to add and top up certain minerals that his field lacks in. Hope that had answered your question.
you can try City Skylines? You build wind turbines for electricity and there are parks, people walking, driving. Buses, trains and trams. It might work to just get him see a city in a game and see his favourite stuff
If someone in the family has symptoms, that person must isolate for 7 days Every other family member in the household must isolate for 14 days because they might not show symptoms until after they have caught it. That is in the UK
I’m not too sure if you have a farm foods near you guys, I’m from Kent and we have a couple. They sell bulks of pop - thought of the dc pepper for Andy, they sell I think 3 packs of 24cans for £18
Go to barneys plaice fish n chips in huntingdon, we had it last week it was yummy, we just went and ordered it was fine ,we watch trains from end of my garden and all of them r empty what it that stay at holme on you top as I live in holme x
I have a suggestion that you could do is that in my experience and my friends experience because we all have autism but milder there is violation to our rights because we can’t communicate to people and often times when children with ASD have meltdowns it is usually for a reason and when he goes back to school you can buy a hidden camera pen and send him to school So you make sure he is safe because autistic individuals are more likely to be bullied or abused took an advantage of
I'm autistic and dyslexic do you have any tips for how to tell my teachers and students because I've had alot of meltdowns at school and people don't understand
I know exactly how Andy feels. A lot of people on the spectrum are having an extra rough time. Everything from routine to normal life has basically stopped very suddenly. My stress has been wonky as well as anxiety and depression. It sucks.
There’s a website called realtimetrains (www.realtimetrains.co.uk/) where you can search for a location (stations or level crossings) and can see exactly what time trains, both freight and passengers will pass. Might help you time trips there for Andy better. Use the detailed search under the search tab.
the goverment guidelines are that if your parents are key workers, then you can go to school if the child can't be cared for. Andy can be cared for. there isn't plans in place for every single person or situation. There should be. but there just isnt. Its the goverment most likely, and not the school.
Question for Anna - How/where does she get the motivation to finish her uni work? I have 4 more assignments to complete but can't find the will power to do it!
It’s a couple more weeks work to finish something off she’s been working towards for 10+ years. In context, I imagine it’s pretty easy to motivate herself this close to the finish line!
In regards to schooling it's awful, my niece was under 9 different specialists for type 1 diabetes, broken back and countless other things and every single one of them has switched off service. The vulnerable children are the ones suffering the most. I'm autistic and have depression also and for me everything has been frustrating and hard to process. I hope school helps him out :)
@@ashleyw6728 I'm not upset about it because I think were entitled to it I'm upset about it because I'm scared to lose someone I love, therefore your comment was a contradiction as obviously that's what I'm worried about?
As well, no one else's struggles matter less as everyone is struggling. I highly sympathise and feel for everyone whose lost someone, as you can tell that is my worse fear and am allowed to express that.
How did you find andy was when you were sick? Did he understand that you were poorly or was he a bit difficult? I love these weekly vlogs, they're always so informative and fun to watch! X well wishes from Ireland 🇨🇮
Government guidelines state, if your child's needs cannot be met at home...why can u not meet his needs at home? Yes his struggling, but every child is struggling in some way.... You chose to keep him home when it suited, now u want to send him back...what has changed in the last 4 weeks? Nothing! Therefore your actions and beliefs would surely remain the same?
Did you watch the video? The main thing that’s changed is that he’s having meltdowns almost every day, after no meltdowns at home in years. He can’t cope with being at home all the time.
@@kevinchapmanvlog yes I watched the video, I just don't think that because he has a meltdown (daily) it warrants sending him back to school! My sons have meltdowns daily because they can't do what they want...and as I keep reminding them, we are currently living in different times which warrant us having to act accordingly.. ok so my children are younger so I aim it at their ages, but the concept is the same! Being a key worker within an educational setting i feel strongly that if your child can be cared for at home...don't put their health and ours at risk! End of
