To me life is motion, and I want to be able to keep moving for as long as I can. I have been struck by people’s beliefs that they are just going to wear out and not be able to do things as they age.
They will have to stop running, walking, lifting things, and doing sports. There seems to be an unwritten expectation that we will just get old, shrink and not be as capable as we were in our twenties.
Well, maybe I have a bit of a Peter Pan complex, but I plan to defy some of these rules.
I may not be able to move like I did when I was twenty, but I plan to keep moving and stay young. If I had known in my 20’s what I know now, maybe it would have been possible to keep moving at an even younger age.
Look at professional sports and athletes such as Serena, and Rodger Federer who are competing in their late 30’s with much younger opponents. We know much more about injury, recovery and repair now than we did 20 years ago.
So much of whether you get an injury depends upon how you move and whether you are able to maintain balance in your muscle mobility and strength.
Can you imagine, how good you would feel if you were in perpetual balance, allowing your body to repair micro-injuries, delaying deterioration in your musculoskeletal health forever?
It is possible.
Join us today on Ask Dr. B Live to hear about the Daily Movement Tuneup, a simple exercise routine that is as easy as brushing your teeth.
Make the DMT a regular part of your day and move freely and without pain!

Hi PM, noticed soreness and trigger point on both shins (on the tibialis anterior I believe and up closer to the knee). No pain in that area while walking. Just soreness and tenderness when massaging with a ball. Wondering if this is possible indication of some compensation, or early signs of something?

Hi! It could indicate that you are having issues rotating your tibialis. Check out the Supine Tibialis Rotation exercise in the ROM Coach app for ideas on how to make sure that it is rotating properly. Daily massage in that region can also help :) - Coach Joshua, Team PM
