Dutchwear has daisy chained webbing for $0,60 per foot (much less expensive). It’s links are created by weaving the threads of the webbing rather than sewing (even stronger) A good solution since Carl isn’t making the Versa strap anymore.
The daisy chain is way easier in the field. You can use 7/64" like I did or some guys are using 1/8" or even 3/16" if they aren't confident in the strength of the 7/64"
My question for the DIY sticks is how you make the back tree anchor "V" pieces. I get how you made the steps, I'm not sure what everyone is using for the back braces. If you could help me with that question I'd sure appreciate it .
Michael Lydick the standoffs are purchased from Lone Wolf. They have a section on their web site that is for replacement parts. The standoffs are $9.99 ea. Hope that helps.
Mmmm, I probably would rather use the strap and buckle in a stand. You really like to get that stand camed over tight on a stand. You could try it at low elevation, but to use it at height is at your own risk. I'd feel safer with 1/4" Amsteel but I still would prefer the strap.
RLE30 not really. The width of the Versa strap makes it more comfortable on my shoulder and foot for carrying sticks and stepping on as an aider. Never thought of using Amsteel for an aider.
@Darko The versa strap was made by Carl Kossuth. He is with the Tethrd Nation team. He was making them on his own for a while but now you have to go through Tethrd (which is not a bad thing). they have versa straps that are made out of Amsteel material that are very light. They make a daisy chain gear strap I think that is made of the same webbing as the straps I used in the video and that I think would make a good aider. I haven't bought one of those from them, but it looks like it would work.
