I remember first seeing this back the early 90's on a show called Teletunes. It was on Sunday nights from 10pm to midnight here in Denver, CO on the local PBS station.
Bruiser de-Cadenet was a loon - Katie-Jane Garside was gorgeous - Daisy Chainsaw were epic, and the mayhem that was "the Word " truly defined an era.,., we may never see the like again.,.,.,

That dude announcing looks like what I'd guess a younger Chris Morris would. (I know it probably isn't) Top tune though, I remember watching this at the time.

i think what they mean is that what is most celebrated and ubiquitous now tends towards the banal safe-bets of the money-men who "know what sells" and won't get behind anything original,.,.
