I would be less reluctant to pronounce it 'doth' if I knew why 'doth' is more correct than 'daith' when it's spelled 'daith.'

The guy who named it pronounces it 'doth'. "Pronounced “doth” (rhyming with “moth”), this cartilage piercing was introduced and popularized by Erik Dakota in the early 90s. It was first showcased in Body Play magazine, in the same issue that also showcased both the rook and industrial piercing. Erik says he named the piercing after the Hebrew word for “knowledge.”

Did you only get one side done? And did they pierce it at the right spot? Cuz when I got mine done the first time it didn't help my migraines much so I removed it. Then I got it pierce the second time (for fun cuz my friend was also getting it) the girl pierce it at a slightly different spot and now I only get migraines an estimation of once every month compared to 2-3 times per week. Though it differs for everyone. P.s. I pierced both sides

I had chronic migraines at least once a week, sometimes twice. They lasted up to three days. I've had my daith piercing for 3 months now, and I haven't suffered from a single one! I had the aurora lights and nausea but no pain twice, and I'll take it. Like two slight headaches, one from stress and one from no sleep for days. That's going to give you a headache no matter who you are! It's still draining a bit and has a keloid, but I know that with proper care, that will go away. I love it! When this heals, I'm having the other side done for sure.

Medication barely helped, and i gave up on trying to cure the migraines with medication since it was doing nothing. I figured i'd try this piercing anyway. Its been two months and honest to god, i have not had a migrane since. I do get a minor headache every once in a while, but its nothing compared to before. Now i can just take a tylenol and be good.

I used to get migraines at least twice a week. I got both piercings on May 27th and have not had even one migraine since then. I have had a couple headaches, but nothing like it was. I was very skeptical at first and I just thought, like you said, if it doesn't work then at least I have a couple of really cool piercings. I have talked to people that it did not work for too. It just depends on the person I guess. I would love this piercing whether it worked or not. I would never take it out because there is no way I would want to go through the re-piercing of it lol

When she pierced the first one (left side) I didn't even know she had done it, I literally felt nothing, so I was like okay I can handle this. Then she said 1-2-3 for the right side and holy crap, I was not expecting that pain. I will be honest, that one was the single most painful piercing I have had, and I have had quite a few. That one is also the one that has taken the longest to heal and I got a bump on it that I am still trying to get to go away. It's almost there. I hope it doesn't stop you from getting it though. I think if I would have just gotten one done at a time it would have been better. I think my adrenaline was pumping full speed when I had the first one done and that's why I didn't feel it, but then having the second one done right after, I think was a bad Idea, the adrenaline was gone and I got too relaxed lol. It may not be the same with everyone but if I had to do it again I would definitely do one at a time.

I had mine done yesterday strictly because I think they are so pretty! I had no idea they help with headaches! Stumbled on this video this morning. Had to comment because I literally wake up with a headache every single morning! I didn't today! Wow bonus! Huge bonus! The piercing itself was my second most painful piercing. I have my helix, nose, belly button, lobes and where the cartilage starts at the bottom of the ear. Belly button was the worst one for me. Today I'm feeling next to no pain where I got my daith piercing. My helix was done 3 months ago and Is still tender. So glad I got this one done !

Jay3ll388 it’s pretty much healed now, I clean it with the wound wash (or a mild first aid antiseptic) in the morning, and when I take showers I’ll let water run in my ear for a minute or two. I haven’t changed it yet, and I probably won’t until it’s been a full year because my cartilage takes longer to heal than what they say is the recommended time. All in all, it’s going great!

@@jacorajustice3590 thank you sooo much for this! I got mine done on the 4th and LOVE it. I sprung for a cute rose gold BVLA piece that I probably won't change for a hottest minute. My conch took about 3-6 before it was good and I'm assuming this will be the same. When I eat healthy and workout consistently drinking water etc...I have noticed that my piercings heal faster. When I am the opposite they have a tendency to take longer etc...so I just started working out again so we shall see. Also just using the saline solution the shop gave me (from free) but want to get the salt water solution a try

Got one three years ago and went from migraines like five times a week to not having one for 4 months after, maybe had like three a year since. Also haven't had a blinding migraine since the day I went in for the piercing (at that point I was on day 4 of a cluster migraine). Soo glad I did it.

I was getting a migraine almost every day of the week until I got my daith pierced 2 years ago. I went in with a migraine starting, and left with nothing. The piercing unfortunately was placed too deep in my ear, so it made it impossible for the piercing to fully heal. DESPITE that, it helped with the migraines, until I had the earring taken out 2 months ago. The NEXT DAY I had to call out of work because I had a migraine so bad I couldn’t even sit up in bed. I have prescribed meds, black out curtains, a heat compress, essential oils, pressure point techniques I learned from my doctor.. nothing helped... I had to wait for my previous piercing to heal before I could get my daith redone. Now that I have it back in, I feel like myself again. Migraine free, and the placement is perfect! I highly recommend getting this if you suffer from migraines.

The sideways ear dunk method was the best I've heard for the daith! I've always enjoyed my piercing soaks (I set up camp in front of Netflix or binge on RU-vid while my piercings marinate--any excuse to relax, right? ;] ) and one of the things that bummed me out about the daith was the absence of that much-anticipated soak ritual. You're the only one who has recommended this method. Thank you!!

I wassss 13 when I had my first migraine. It wasn't until I was 15 when I started getting them every single day. Up until I was 27 years old, I am now 29. 12 years of migraines on a daily basis. I got my daith piercings, both ears, when I was 27 and I want to say I've been migraine free, but I'm not. I still get them a maximum of 3 times in a week. Sometimes I'll go a week without one. So I can for certain say it has helped. Also, I didn't do anything mentioned in this video cleaning wise. All I did was in the morning, clean out the "crusties" from top and bottom of the piercing, will likely cause bleeding as it did with me, but only for a minute or two. Jumped in the shower and just tilted my head to the sides soaking the inside of my ears for about 30 seconds per side. When they stopped hurting I started to rotate them. Which sometimes caused a little bleeding but I wanted to make sure the skin didn't grow around them. They fully healed within 3-4 months as opposed to the 6+ months they tell you.

I had mine done by professional from migraine clinic. She targeted the VAGUS nerve that this piercing has to stimulate. If you got yours in just a piercing studio - they obviously dont do that, so you might have a piercing that is just millimeter off and wont work at all. Also you should do it in both ears as doing one will only sort half of your head.

Okay I had to come back to this comment to say this. It has finally healed! 🙌🏻 Like you said, all at once. It got swelled up for a while, then one day when I was cleaning it it just popped and a lot of gross stuf came out and now it's perfect! I'm so happy haha

I did the daith without thinking about the migraines. I had them intense but I was thinking 100% about the aesthetics, I never believed in the piercing doing something for it, I didn't even had that in mind/remembered that rumor when I was thinking about doing it or even after. Only after like a week since I did it and no migraines I thought there was something different and then I remembered about this saying. I am still not sure if it was the piercing, I do believe it could be just a coincidence, but it would be pretty cool if it's true.

I got mine 24hrs ago & I’m headache free for the first time in a long time!! I got it w/ the mindset it would work, but if not then I have a pretty kick ass piercing & I have had multiple piercings in my day, so in the end if that’s all I got out of it then that’s ok too.

I want to comment on aboat 1 min 30 sec about the fact about a migraine. I had a stroke about 2 years ago affected my right side and i have nerve damage. You have a nerve where the Daith goes and i got a daith today because of the pain that the nerve cost me and like it helps actually freaking alot so it can help for migraines. 1:39

I guess pronunciation is subjective to the person and where they call home as long as people understand what your talking about tbh, also if anyone is having issues with soaking i found using like a takeaway plastic tub works as its wide and dosnt restrict your ear from submerging and you also have room to use your finger to agitate the water (not poking your piercing)to creat a flow to easily help larger pieces of the crust or blood wash off independently

I have mine going on 6 months on the 12th and it still acts up I try the sea salt soaks and everything I can think of and it still hurts so much My Tragus I’ve had for a year and it acts up every now and then But I’m going to wait at least a year or so before I change out my earring I have a captive bead ring that I was pierced with Cartilage piercings take longer then what they say 2-3 months nope more like a year or so
@KaraisBubliee
@KaraisBubliee 6 лет назад
Matthew Vecera make sure your earrings are the proper metals. My cartilage for 3 months were keloiding, sore, oozing and I went to a piercer she changed the ring to titanium and within 1 week it was all cleared up and bump free. Just be sure of what they’re putting in your body.

apparently there is little bit les than 50% chance to reduce migraines. even if it is placebo effect is better than taking pills every few days. in the worst case scenario you take out piece of metal🙂 just my opinion. very good info about cleaning in the video

Went to my usual tattoo shop for a daith piercing 2 days ago and the piercer ended up pushing the needle on my forward helix rather than on my daith which made me endure another pain just to have my daith done.. despite all the images/sample pics of daith i showed him he still got the part wrong.. now trying to heal both my daith n the puntured forward helix is such an agony..😓 hopefully sea salt soak would greatly help on the healing process.. thanks for this!😁

Do I need to clean the scab away from it? I just got mine done 3 days ago with a horseshoe and there’s a sizeable amount of blood that’s scabbed up and trapped pinned between the bar and my ear. I tried to gently clean it with a saline soaked Q tip but most of it won’t budge. I’m scared to move the jewelry to get at it. Does the scab need to be cleaned away? Should I just leave it alone? I’m doing morning and evening saline soaks for 8 minutes each.

I clean with antibacterial soap and apply salt water soaks. I don't know what to do at this point. I was told to pop the bumps. I would appreciate any suggestions. Thanks in Advance.
