I watched like 3 or 4 of this guy's aftercare videos back to back, and he says pretty much the same thing in all of them. I feel like I have a motivational podcast playing in the background constantly reminding me to soak my ears daily and not to touch it, twist it, sleep on it, or fuck around with it. It really helps. Thanks!!! LOL

I just got my rook pierced and I have to do the sea salt water compress. I had neck surgery two months ago and trying to soak my piercing in that angle caused too much stress and pain on my neck. Just cut the paper towel to a smaller size, soak it in the sea salt water and hold it against your piercing. It's really helped. I'm so happy to have found Matt and UBJ. ❤❤❤❤❤❤

I had my rook pierced 16 days ago and for the first 4 days it was really sore and painful to clean it. But for the last 2 weeks it doesn’t hurt at all and haven’t had a headache since the day I got it and it doesn’t hurt at all to clean. However 4 months ago I had my forward helix and helix done together and the forward helix is still a little painful to sleep on but is painless otherwise. The helix has fully healed and has no pain at all.

I was expecting this piercing to hurt a lot more than it did tbh. I have a LOT of different body piercings at this point, the only areas I’ve stayed away from really are my inner ears until now. I was expecting it to be pretty similar to my tragus but I think the tragus hurt more. the worst part was inserting the jewelry. I will say this piercing bleeds a lot more than any of my past ear piercings and it’s tricky cleaning the bottom part of the barbell thoroughly enough if you have smaller ear anatomy like myself. The only real pain I’ve had other than the initial piercing was from accidentally sleeping on it but even that went away pretty quickly. Nice piercing to get

I’ve use the brand “Dial” Antibacterial soap “gold”name. Add a drop or two in a small cup of warm water and dip a q-tip in in. Wipe around your jewelry where your piercing is. Rinse with clean water using another clean Q-tip or dunk your ear to the side in the cup of clean warm water. When done cleaning make sure your piercing area is dry. I’ll use part of a clean paper towel. (I’ll get a small Tupperware container to store my supplies of q-tips and paper towels that I’ll tear in thirds in the container. Easy access and keep antibacterial soap near by too) Never had any issues with any of my 13 ear piercings. Rook included😀

Yesterday I went to the studio wanting to get a conch tattoo, and I changed my mind last minute cause I saw a picture of a rook tattoo and thought it looked so beautiful. I haven’t done any research at all, which is very unusual for me! As I have a few piercings in my ear lobes, a helix and a tragus, as well as multiple tattoos (can’t really compare the type of pain I know) I went in thinking I could totally handle it. It was the absolute most painful thing I‘he had ever done had done to my body and I got super light headey thinking I‘d faint. I went to sleep last night and woke up in the middle of the night because I had such a bad headache.. I really hope it will heal nicely and there won‘t be any conplications or infections.

Piercings can be pretty finicky. You generally have to put quite a lot of time and effort into healing, at least in my experience. I've had a daith piercing for almost 5 months and less than a month ago, it flared up and got a bit infected (not just irritated, the two are very different but have similar symptoms). I thought it was pretty well done healing, but you can never be too careful. I absolutely love my daith, but it is frustrating at times. Until the fistula of your piercing gets stronger, it is really easy to bump it and cause tiny tears inside the hole, which I think was my problem. Overall, I would totally recommend getting a piercing as long as you're prepared to take care of it and invest some money to ensure it'll be a healthy one.

I got a few lobe piercings yesterday and one of them is near one I had pierced maybe ten years ago with a punch (I know bad idea). It got infected, I waited maybe a year and went to a piercer to get it repierced, and it infected again. A decade later, I can still see the bluish-green color behind my lobes were the infection was abd I worry that my new piercing, which pierces through the border of the old infection, will get re-infected. It’s been a while so maybe I shouldn’t worry but if anyone has any advice let me know! I will take care of it like any other piercing (soaks, no sleeping on it, no touching and twisting), hopefully nothing will happen!

I'm starting to feel really weird now. Because this piercing was pretty painless, I practically laughed. Septum, still laughed. Guess I'm the worst judge of character, or just take really good care of my piercings, because I'm not dealing with any of that. Pressure, yeah. It's new. But pain? Not even a little. Sorry this is so rough for some (most) people.

I've had my couch for 7 years. It took almost two years to heal. Sleeping on it is a big thing but try to clean it after every time you use hair products or face products that get near it. And don't pick off the crust. Clean it gently with a qtip and warm water or saline.

Conch piercings can be a b*tch to heal. No sleeping on it, and ibuprofen helps with the swelling. I've had mine done 3 times now, was horrid around the 2mth mark, and at 3mth mark no issues - no issues now either. Salt water soaks are a pain - Neil Med spray with a QTip is easiest for cleaning
@lynettlongo6044

Soooo, is doing it for 10 mins okay then? That's how long I do mine for. I usually get a qtip after I'm done soaking (I put my head to the side and let my ear soak into the cup lol) and I'll use it to clean the piercing one more time just to be on the safe side. I move it ONLY when it's wet and soaked. Is this okay? It's been doing good so far but I noticed a tiny ass bump around the piercing may be forming but a day or two ago I didn't do my soaks and just used the H2O spray instead. So, thoughts?

I have been extra careful with it doing sea salt soaks and sleeping on the other side and using an airplane pillow if i need to sleep on that side. last night i saw clear ish liquid on the top hole of the piercing i did my sea salt soak and rised my ear with the shower head and it was fine after. please tell me if i am doing the right thing or with cleaning it and doing the right thing by not moving the bar at all.

I got a rook piercing recently and I asked my piercer if I need to move it and she said yes. The problem is I tried moving it once and I could barely move it so I googled it (yeah I know google) and practically everyone says to not move it because of a bacteria thing and it gets the piercing infected. I want to make sure that it’s okay to leave the piercing alone and just clean it. Oh and I’m cleaning it with Claire’s ear care solution, which is worked wonderfully when I got my lobe piercings (five in one go. Three new ones on the left and two on the right- worst yet best move ever tbh). Is it okay if I clean it using the ear care solution and the salt water method? Thanks
@maddief8693
@maddief8693 5 лет назад
Hello, it's probably in your best interest to leave it alone. I have had three helix piercings, all of which rejected because I wouldn't stop touching them. When I got my daith piercing, I only touched it when absolutely necessary and after washing my hands. In my experience, the ear care solution from Claires isn't awful, but isn't the best. Its active ingredient is benzalkonium chloride, which is a disinfectant, but probably not good for repetitive use on piercings. Maybe only when you suspect infection (but a suspected infection could only be irritation, which is completely different, so analyze your symptoms carefully). A pure saline solution is very gentle on healing wounds and I found it much easier to heal when I only used it. Everyone heals differently, so what works for me may not work for you, but leaving it alone and cleaning properly should be the best bet. :)

@@victoriaalvarado852 it went very very well! when i got mine done, i was really dizzy and nauseous and genuinely felt like i was going to pass out, but i think that might’ve been due to not eating before or just my nerves. the healing process wasn’t bad, either! i just ran it under warm water for 20-30 seconds while i was in the shower (after using shampoo/conditioner to ensure i was rinsing the suds out), no soap or fancy cleaning products. i tried not to get hair products in it, was careful about wearing over the ear headphones and sleeping on it, and now i can do everything normally again :) a year later and i’m able to sleep on it + wear headphones again, so that’s nice!! it was definitely one of my easier piercings to heal believe it or not, haha

I got my rook done just the other day, and they put a hoop in for jewelry, someone told me that the hoop is prone to rejecting, if so, what should I do? or should I not be worried, since I'm taking good care of it?
@maddief8693
@maddief8693 5 лет назад
Hoops are typically riskier for initial piercings because they are more prone to movement and getting caught on things. I would personally want to change to a curved barbell just to be safe, but it is possible to heal a rook with a hoop. I had my helix pierced with a hoop and it rejected, so I will always get pierced with as straight of jewelry as the piercing permits.

Just keep it clean and avoid knocking it or cleaning too close to the actual hole (especially during the first week) and just follow the other advice in the video 🤷‍♀️ I can't promise this will prevent any bumps in 100% but it should reduce the chances of one forming. And if the healing process goes well for you it should hopefully be healed by July! But I'd say have something to clean it with after swimming anyway, just in case :)
