*Bought a 500 for an ultralight rod. It's very smooth **enjoyable.fishing** recommend casts great. One odd thing- the bale wire is a bit heavy diameter in my opinion for a reel of this size. But a great purchase.*

I just had a chance to test out the BG 5000 on the surf....VERY SATISFIED! I couldn't believe the line retrieve I would cast as hard and as far as i could and when I retrieved the line it was ALREADY on shore?!....It felt like i didn't even throw it far ,but from what i meaured it was a 110 to 120 yard throw with a 4 oz and man again it was FAST line retrieve......cant get tired of this cuz you can fish all day now lol. IT performed well with heavy heavy load easy turning of the knob..smooth...feel light to the turn and yet STRONG to the demands..love love it love it!!

I own Penn Battle SSV & other spinning reels made by Penn. I recently purchased a new BG 4000 and I'm blown away by what a pleasure it is to fish with this reel !! I can't believe how smooth and effortless the retrieve on this reel is, and the gears are as smooth as glass. Daiwa didn't cut any corners building these BG reels and they're not a cheaply designed product this reel is a quality mechanically crafted marvel. Within the near future I'm going to buy a the BG 4500 & 5000 for my lager rods to fish the ocean with.

Frank Theo so Happy to hear all the great positive and well said comments on your new BGs....I feel and always notice how so different and better performer the daiwa reels truly ARE. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and experience. Great choice.....till this day I still can find a better reel for the price...strength ,build, and versatility and speed. I saw a posted video from Tackle Advisors of the complete breakdown for the Daiwa BG 4000 it's a must see video to show you how good this Daiwa BG really is. The BG's pinion gear is seated inside the housing supported by a ball bearing the crosswind gear is seated by a bail bearing and the main gear is supported by two stabilizer rods, this reels is a quality reel that should cost twice as much Daiwa is selling this reel for. I'm surprised at the low cost for a reel that's so precision built after seeing what parts go inside this reel and how well built it is all I can say it's a mechanical marvel, that's light years ahead of anything Pure Fishing Formerly kwon as Penn has out.

Have both and the bg 6500 is a beast diawa is still after all these years up there with the best in spinning reels and not exactly the most expensive lol the main gear id huge on the new bg's you really notice with big fish lol for big cuberas. I spooled some 80lb pro and lands them with out even breaking a sweat. GOOD VID 👍

I bought the BG 4000 a week ago and I own Penn reels SSV, Conquer, Battle etc and to my surprise none of them feel as smooth as this inexpensive Daiwa product. I saw your comparison for the Penn Fierce & The BG 5000, and they're about the same size and based on what I saw on your video the next reel I buy to use on one of my one of my 10 foot rods will be the BG 5000. Happy 4th of July !!

ty... i had just ordered a bg 5000 to replace a penn 6000 battle ii.... sounds like the bg 5000 is at least as stout as the penn, but hopefully the bg will retrieve slightly better. i'm going to use it for crab snares initially.

I'm deciding between a 5000 or 6500 bg. I will do mainly surf and pier fishing. You think the 5000 would bring in 5-6 foot sharks
@israelvibrations100
@israelvibrations100 7 лет назад
Michael Brymer I put 300yrds of mano 25lb of P-line CX on my 5000 if caught small shark just 3 to 4 feet. I'd say it all depends how much Capacity of line you need of if these sharks are runners......but braided line is another option so you can add all the line you need on a 5000.......but if your experience tells you you muscle these Sharks on shore I'd go 6500. You be so happy how easy and light to the turn of the air rotor on the BG's....and the oversized diggie..Gear witch give it power crank....pluse high contact with its gear teeth......and remember their price you CAN'T BEAT 100$ to 120$?!...BUY IT! LOL IT'S WELL BUILT YOU CAN'T GO WRONG

@israelvibrations100
@israelvibrations100 4 года назад
I forgot to answer your other question of witch is better with metal and spool coil quality. There are two big differences in the metal quality on both reels. For the Fierce ll is all aluminum the rotor is full metal so will be much heavier at the turn of the knob as the Rotor spins very very noticeable weight when cranking line in. The spool for the Fierce II is much tighter so the coil and the line leaves the spool is much smaller so that will give a greater chance for wind knots on the Fierce II. On the BG on the other hand the rotor is made of a carbon has a lower center of gravity and very light and very strong so it so much easier to the turn. As as for the spool is made of aluminum as the Fierce II BUT the BG is shorter yet much wider so has a greater or wider coil as the line leaves the spool...reduces wind knots to a greater extent. So the tighter a coil the worse this is ,the wider the coil the better its is. Hope this helps your decision 😃😃 thanks for Watching!

@israelvibrations100
@israelvibrations100 6 лет назад
Cesar Arguelles Sr, CesarA the rod that goes well with this size would be a surf rod....10....to 12 feet.......if your on a charter boat 7 foot Ugly Stik....or Beef Stick rod would go well with this. I use a 11 ft Medium Heavy action for the Surf and use 25lbs Mano P-line CX Moss green FLORO carbon coated....reel holds up 300 yards with this line....but if you charter on boat fishing deep 30 or 40lbs braid will hold up to 480 yards.....very very strong reel and fast. Can I match the BG 5000 with a medium power extra fast action ugly stik (freshwater, line capacity: 6-14)? Or should I get a medium/heavy rod with a 8-17 lb line cap.?
@israelvibrations100
@israelvibrations100 7 лет назад
Wil Dip I have question are you salt water fishing and how long is your fishing rod. If your fishing off a boat with a medium to heavy action rod 6ft to 7 food is fine but make sure the rod guides are large uglystik are perfect for both long or short rods. But if your using 8 to 17lb mano you'll need 400 Yards or more with that small line to fill this BG 5000 Spool......On my last comment I used p-line CX moss green mano the diameter is 45mm. On a SeaLine Surf rod 11 1/2 foot. I use it for baiting but far casting distance on the Surf. The line that I put p-line CX 25lb ALL 300 Yards filled it perfectly. So let me know some more details of your set up and type of fishing you will be doing....
@israelvibrations100
@israelvibrations100 7 лет назад
Wil Dip I forgot to mention if your using 6lb to 14lb mano on a rod that 6 or 7 or 8 feet will be good on BG 4000 weather fast action or medium ,that type of line weight can hold up 210 Yards of 14lb mano and if your casting in fresh water for Bass Stripe Bass or White Bass will do just fine with a Diawa BG 4000. Remember the 4000 has a line retrieve of 40 inches! Is Fast. It's 14oz in weight, It's the same weight of a Penn Fierce II 4000. If that's ok with you or light for you you can go one higher BG 4500 weight is 22oz....but hold much more line that will match 17lb you asked for and the line retrieve is 43inches! SO the 4000 10lb mano hold 300yds 12lb hold 260 and 14lb holds 210. You can see my other video called Diawa BG 4000 Review or Diawa BG 5000 and 4000 review.

The larger reels you go of course longer they normally last....smaller reels are just that small and light use and gradually wear out sooner....but for myself not been the case STILL going STRONG with my BG 4000. CHECK IT OUT😀😀

@israelvibrations100
@israelvibrations100 5 лет назад
A great braid line to use is J-braid.....30 to 50lbs
@israelvibrations100
@israelvibrations100 5 лет назад
But if your fishing of rocks or cover or pier as you say.....I'd rather use P-line CX 25lbs OR 30lbs Moss Green. Reason being it can cast farther and is much much more abrasion resistant plus it last forever.

Hi mate i want your help... I have a Hart bloody shore evo 2 rod cw 30-120gr and i need a reel for jigs 40gr - 60gr and 80gr... Which one do you suggest to me...??
@israelvibrations100
@israelvibrations100 6 лет назад
vagos gero it seems more like you love to jig for fish or are a caster and using 40gr...50gr....80gr.....as lures.....I understand up to 2oz jig. The BG 4000 would be a better choice thoe the 3500 BG will do well also. But if your fishing from the beach shore and casting a 4000 is a better fit do to the high speed line retrieve 39.9 inches....witch is fast. The weight of the reel is about 14oz. If your using braid 30lbs J-braid is a best fit for this reel if you love to jig or cast for fish. The 5000 BG on this video is a BIG Reel Up 21 oz wouldn't be a good idea to jig with it heavy and will tire you out...But if your catching fish 20 to 80 pounds THE BG 5000 would be the choice despite it size.....but if your catching fish 5 to 15 pounds BG 4000 is the choice. Hope this helps😀😀

@israelvibrations100
@israelvibrations100 5 лет назад
I'm not sure if and how well made are the BGs in China.....but I have only baught american made BGs here in USA and iv had no issues at all....but one word of caution with the BG 8000 I recommend to use mano not braid only for the fact it's very hard to reel in is the line is braided and very heavy braid like 80 to 100lbs.....The reason why it hard to reel is the braid of that thickness behave very much like wet rope it grips too well on the reel and it will be hard to reel in line so mano much easyer fyi.
@davidwilliams2821
@davidwilliams2821 5 лет назад
Hey I hav a Bg5000 . Can I use it with a Shimano Trevala 6'6" jigging rod. Can I combine them both and use them for vertical jigging???
@israelvibrations100
@israelvibrations100 5 лет назад
You can but it will be very tiring since the reels weight is at 21 oz very heavy for jigging and being only a 6,'6 rod that your using might make it hard to cast because the eye rings of your rod might be too close to the BG reel and you must include the reels height to the foot of reel where it meets rod. So if your casting or jigging with lures the line would be whipping on rod when you cast out for the reason the spool of your BG is so Large. But for baiting off a bridge or bottom fishing it's really not a problem. The BG 5000 would fit much better on a rod that 10 to 12 foot surf rod medium or medium heavy action, of course these rods are not to great for jigging but bottom fishing and baiting. Hope this helps😁😁😁

i ended up getting the 5000, can you feel gear vibration when you are cranking fast with yours? Not sure if it was always there but after clocking in 24 hours on the surf it feels like there is meshing vibration in the main gear and pinion.
@israelvibrations100
@israelvibrations100 7 лет назад
Zero One * for myself nothing like that so far....how have you been using your reel on the Sure? Has it been heavily used and I mean with heavy ounces or has it been splashed on the surf?...ler me know when and how it started happening.
@zeroone3804
@zeroone3804 7 лет назад
it got splashed and ive been using 2oz - 2 3/8oz plugs, i opened it up and it was dry inside the roller clutch area and there are no sand particles in that area. even opened up the side panel looks fine. it just happened towards the end of a session. adding more grease did nothing. may have to get it serviced.
@israelvibrations100
@israelvibrations100 7 лет назад
Zero One * from my experience once salt water get in my reel or around it i stop using it and always have a spare. Reason being from what I've seen always happen to me is if I let my reel dry from the salt water and then try to use it again in the afternoon....or the next day or next week it will not performs right at all....this has all been the same form my Penn Fierce 7000 the old one...same with my Penn Fierce 6000 and 5000 and 4000.....i know what you mean by clunk...or a tiny off set when you turn the knob...feels like one small part or the main gear got bent or worped some how....this has happen even to my shimano Sahara and my Shakespeare reel.....once salt got in..never the same....so that why if they get sprayed or splashed by salt water will dry and grinding the main gear...kinda like a car motor...if your supposed to use 0W-20.....And you put 30W- or higher you build pressure in the gears and your engine sounds loose or starts knocking...same with salt on any part of the gear of your reel. But as all the reel I mentioned above have the same universal issue a clunk or looseness.....so I stop using it then use my spare....till I get home and spray it down with clean water....i avoided early damage from my reels.....
@israelvibrations100
@israelvibrations100 7 лет назад
Zero One * and yes your correct adding more grease won't help seems like once salt water dries even fresh water film and it dries in the main gear or roller starts to act funny.....my little boy dropped my BG 5000 totally in salt water and sand...but I yelled Don't Touch the reel.....thankfully there was a small fresh water fall like 20 feet away out it under there let it soak for a three minutes put it upside down then finally spinned the reel...STILL WORKED GREAT....I was worried but I new if I tryed..cleaning by hand or re-dunking in clear salt water I new I would have problems....i have another video called Diawa BG 8000 Review/ Reel comparison ...there I have both the 5000 and 4000 still smooth check it out😀😀
@zeroone3804
@zeroone3804 7 лет назад
thx so much for the lengthy explanation, i'm new to the whole surf fishing and till now only fish fresh or brackish water. I checked out all your vids already before buying the 5000, i really researched the bg series and saw one dude use his 5000 under water and claimed it's still butter smooth although making noise...i really doubt that, probably same issue as mine, still functional with mild rumble. I'm also starting to think the bg may not be suited for primary surf casting for working and launching plugs as the main gear is made of zinc, not entirely sure salt intrusion may be the only issue. Since this reel is really cheap instead of sending it back for service i may break it down completely next week and practice reel maintenance, i need a reel at the moment and didn't have wd-40 or alcohol to degrease it. I managed to take every thing apart including the pinion, just didn't take out the main gear. It also looks like daiwa used different lubes for different parts, i may have to resort to using penn grease all around. If i mess it up i'll just send it to daiwa lol.

Jaime López there is a cap that screws on either on the right or left. If you want the handle on the right just unscrew the cap from the right. And remove the handle from the left by unscrewing clock wise. Once it out crew the handle now on the right side counter clock wise. And put the cap you remove from the beginning now on the left by screwing it in.

The BG 5000 is almost the same size as a Penn Fierce 6000 the BG 4000 is more closer to a Penn 5000....so you have a better idea on size....its mostly a spool diffrence are larger than all of brand reels

@@noufalnafzz7964 yes you can but it is a very heavy,thats why I recommend to everyone the perfect all around reel would be the BG5000 like 15lbs to 35lbs fish. 6000 and 8000 your getting close to 100lbs and over type of fish....so it's up to your style of fishing.

What rod length do you use your 5000 size on? And how do you use this against saltwater ? How do you avoid corrosion?
@israelvibrations100

Sorry didn't get back to you bright away....the rod I use for the BG 5000 is called Sealine Surf 12foot 2 piece light action but I modified this rod because it was too soft at the tip...so I purposely took off 4inches...and put a new Eye ring tip and now it can hold 3 to 8oz weights 😀 been working perfect and flawless since with no problems. One thing to note if you use braid on a 5000 40lbs to 50lbs and above will produce lots of drag do to the braid being very much like wet cloth and grips more on each eye rings of your rod.....so I put Mano instead P-line CX flouro carbon coated 25lbs mossgreen. Perfect cambo for Surf fishing and casting😀😀

so what reel size would you suggest for a rod that is 10'6" 2-6 ounces lure? I plan to buy one bg. In addtion, can you tell on how to maintain bg so that it would last for a year? I have the Daiwa Saltist, I completely in love with this reel since day one. I found the BG isn't much different than the salist beside the mag-seal (which is kind of hard to maintain because daiwa don't sell the fluid). But again, I'm not sure what reel size would be a better fit for my rod length. I 100% will be throwing lures only. Your suggest would be great. By the way, thank you for making a lot of videos in regard to your experiences with Daiwa BG.

@@vsonic86 your very welcome .....so since you say your using your reel 100% of the time for lures 2 to 6oz.....if your using 30lbs braid the DAIWA BG 4000 can handle that with ease. The line retrieve for the 4000 is 39 inches with is fast....if you need more speed with your lures and would rather use mano line the 4500 43.1 inches line retrieve would be a better fit because it can hold more line because Mano is thicker. Both BG 4000 AND 4500 WILL do do just perfect for a 10 1/2 food rod. So depending on your need with speed, line, and drag and style finishing would depend much on how you want your rod and reel and line to behave when you cast and how far you want to cast. With the BG 4000 I was able to cast 132 yards with a 3oz with 20lbs J-braid using a 10 1/2ft okuma SST Medium Action rod 2 piece and with my SeaLine Surf Rod 11 1/2ft medium action (self modified) i could cast a 4oz with 30lbs J-braid 156yards. So I'll leave it up to you what you would prefer👍👍

20 lbs J-braid is exact the line that I'm using. you can cast up to 156 yard using 4 oz ? That is VERY impressive! Most people could only make 76 yards if possible. Yes, I will be looking at 4000 since the 4500 is kind heavy. But what is the biggest you caught using bg?
