Here on this video I'm doing a size comparison from what A Daiwa BG 8000 side by side next to a Diawa BG 5000/4000 and also a Pen fierce 6000/ Penn Fierce 4000 and a Shimano Sahara 4000. But I'm showing the reels base diffrence or where the reel seat is screwed on to a rod for size difference, some are too large or to thick but with the BG 8000.....Can even crew on to any small but strong rods, Surf rods ,light rods so forth. At the end of the video I have a demo my little girl pulling drag on the BG 8000 with the 100lb J-braid line tied to her Back pack as she walking forward. Funny stuff but just shows how strong this BG 8000 truly Is. Have any questions or leave a comment. Thanks for Watching and Enjoy the Video!

*Bought a 500 for an ultralight rod. It's very smooth **enjoyable.fishing** recommend casts great. One odd thing- the bale wire is a bit heavy diameter in my opinion for a reel of this size. But a great purchase.*

Great video. I’m hoping the BG 6500 I just purchased will hold up to some monster sturgeon this year. Last year, I hauled in a 6’ - 7” 150# monster from a boat. When I found out the bank guys were getting them, I was sold!

Okay so that fishing rod Celilo to native Americans it means echo of falling water... Celilo Falls was a 12-mile stretch of the Columbia River that contained a series of waterfalls and rapids. The Native American name for the area is “Wyam,” which is said to mean “echo of falling water” in several Native American languages.

As silly as comparing the reel feet may seem to some viewers, I am just getting ready to go on a trip and am bringing two spin surf outfits. I bought a new Daiwa Ardito surf rod, and my old trusty reliable Penn 8500 SS reel foot won't fit into the upper part of the rod's Fuji reel seat. OK, so I order a new Penn Pursuit III 5000, cut it out of the clamshell case, and it won't fit on the rod, either! I try my Daiwa BG 4000 reel on the rod, and NO PROBLEM. The reel is a little small to balance out the rod. I'm tempted to buy the Penn Battle II 6000 reel to replace that Pursuit III, as there are great prices on them out there right now, and it would be a great fit on my new rod. But, based on my small sample of two Penn reels and what I've seen in this video, I can't trust that the reel seat fit issue will be any different with the Battle II than it was with the Pursuit III, and though my grandfather and dad relied on Penn reels and I have, as well, I have to go with the BG 5000 or 6500.

I'm glad you see the same quality and versatility of these BGs as I have. They can be used in so many ways that there are no reels like the BGs. You put heavier line braid or mano or go much heavier and still have plenty of line capacity for your needs with out any damage what so ever to your reel because there built so Tuff! I wanted a good saltwater reel and I was gonna get the 5000 but then I saw the 8000 was the same price so I bought the Bg8000 lol I Spooled mine with 80lb braid so I can hold a little more line than I could with 100lb braid. I don’t have a specific fish I wanna catch. I just want to catch some really big fish. I think I made a good decision on picking the biggest reel for the same price as the 5000. And your right it can fit on smaller rods!

What kind of rod are you using for that bg8000? Is it ok if I mount it on a surf rod rated for 12-30lbs line weight? Do I have to go Down to a 50lb braid
@israelvibrations100
@israelvibrations100 6 лет назад
TexasGulfFishing I was using a 10 1/2 foot Ugly Stik Medium Action...and if you put 50lbs braid you'll need heavier braid than that only because you can put over 600 yards to fill the spool of an 8000.....so go with 60...or 80braid you might need to put mano line backing because you still might not have enough to fill your spool to the top.just FYI😊😊
@israelvibrations100
@israelvibrations100 6 лет назад
TexasGulfFishing I forgot to say 12 to 30 weight on line capacity on your rod might be referring to Mano fishing line not braid....but just to be on the safe side 60lbs or 80lbs braid would be fine
@buddymanstv7799
@buddymanstv7799 6 лет назад
Alright I was just confused and didn’t want to take the 80lb braid off the the spool and put on 50lb braid just because my rod was labels 12-30lbs or possibly have to buy another rod that’s 50-100lb line weight lol. But thanks man. I’m already looking into buying some more DaiwaBGs. The 8000 is the only spinning reel I have and I need a smaller reel possibly the 4000-5000BG for lake fishing. 😅😅

I'm so sorry I forgot to let you know the larger you go on reels so does the braid accompanying it there will deffinalty be more drag, reason for this is braid behave very much like cloth meaning it will catch or grip the rod Eye rings much much more especially if it's 80 to 100lbs. And by the time the line reaches the line roller being wet at all will have a lot of drag depending how many eye rings the line is going thru. I had the same problem with just 50 lbs braid on my BG 5000 produced alot of drag....even on my cast...so I switched to 25lbs Mano floro carboncoated much much more speed on cast distance and 3x less drag....with 8000 BG on a wet line 100lbs braid....was lots of drag....so if your using a Reel that large on the surf will be hard to cast for sure and reel in....just FYI😀😀😀

I was looking to pairing a Daiwa BG 8000 or Penn Spinfisher VI 7500 with either the Tsunami air wave elite 1102M, okuma cedros 1102MH or the St Croix 110M. I want to use 50lb braided line but the tsunami air wave elite is rated 15-30lb and the Okuma is rated 20-50lb and the st croix is 15-40. I was mainly thinking the okuma or st croix but do you think the st croix will be safe using 50lb line even though it’s rated for 15-40 and the price for the st croix is $245 while the okuma is $170. Both are MH/MF. And which set up would you personally choose out of the items I listed
@israelvibrations100
@israelvibrations100 4 года назад
The problem I see here is the price only because most if not all rods are blank fi er glass rods or in that realm if there at any 100 dollars and over your doing great but if your over 200 then you must have a rod that can handle yellow fin tuna and fish over 300 lbs on a regular basis.....so if you dont mind price choose what you would like to use as your rod but if you have a depth understanding of how rod flex and durability play for very serious rod and reel fish handers 100lbs and up then buy St 110M...the quality of that rod can handle time and battle for the fish you catch. But rods in the price range of 100$ and up can and will do he same work. Because my rods have last 5years before they broke down ...eye rings....tips and break because of dryness and heat. So theres alot to think about it up to you how aggressive and passionate you are with your rod and reels and the Size type of fish. Hope this info helps.😃😃

Joe Black the 5000 would be perfect has all the line you need I put 25lb P-line CX Moss Green with this line you can add ALL 300 yards due to it small diameter. And it very strong yet soft low memory. Fast line retrieve if your on a high bridges or peers so you have no problem reeling in a heavy fish to bring on to shore quick.

@israelvibrations100
@israelvibrations100 7 лет назад
Michael Brymer I've seen videos on RU-vid to see what's the best way to spool braid.....if you don't have the option for a tackle shop to spool it for you....then do what I did just have a friend hold the new spool of line with a pen passing thru it hold it with 2 rags on both side for him/her ( like if your holding the handle bar of a bike)to add pressure....Lots of pressure as you start winding your line to your reel. Remember I used my 10 foot Ugly Stik fully assembled so that my rod bends. This how I did it and it worked out well. Try it😀

If you plan on fishing for fish over 100lbs to 200lbs I'd say BG 8000 but if your looking in the range of 12 to 80lbs fish the BG 5000 I WOULD recommend. But I think the BG 5000 could handle up to and over 100 pound fish strong strong reel. To me the 5000 is an over all real perfect for any applications. Hope this helped.

But from what I've seen and heard have the reel mailed and serviced to the company....but is rather just buy ANOTHER REEL LOL🤣😂😂 save me time and money shipping, handling, and then the repair...but if you main rain them yourself avoid dunking in salt water avoid sand at all coast, and spray then down after each fishing trip with clean water should last a long time.

@israelvibrations100

Yes that is correct it's a manual bail to prevent any accidental flip back if your plugging .....and it's considered a safety feature. It also has an automatic rotor break witch is all normal. If you try to turn the knob and rotor while the nail is set open it will turn a few times then stop....its normal nothing to worry 😀😀

There are rods that are short very short and extremely tough especially if your deep sea fishing on a boat You'll be needing a real that go the depths and a small rod that can hold and 40 pound bend. Most if not always the rods that you do like the reels won't fit or vice versa. Key reasons why I appreciate and love BGs over all versatility 😃😃😃😃thanks you for watching!👀

Kevin Alexander actually I'd recommend the BG 5000......Its the perfect balance in size speed retrieve...toughness.....weight and can put 300 yards of 25lbs Mano P-lime CX Moss Green......or Braid 60lbs 300....So depending how big of fish your catching....the 5000 BG....CAN handle fish up 35 to 50 pounds 😀

I'm a pier fisherman but recently I've been drone surf fishing and my tiny reels just don't really hold that much line in comparison to some of the guys I fish with. They have these 10000 size reels and I feel like a smart car at a dually convention. I'll look into the 5k. If it's not available I'm guessing the 6k is my next logical choice? Also, what would one even use a 8k for? I'm putting it on a Okuma Longitude 11' rod. (Didn't wanna go with anything bigger because I still want it on the pier and they have a size limit.)
@israelvibrations100
@israelvibrations100 6 лет назад
Kevin Alexander ok I see what you mean now in was looking on line capacity for an 8000 and it can hold 740 yards of 50lbs braid and possibly 850 to 900 yards on 40lbs braid. As you might already know the spools are so much bigger than competing brands....so the spools of other brands like Okuma reels...hold far less line the a Daiwa BG of the same size meaning 5000 to a 5000...so about 100 yards more line capacity with bg...give or take. But there is also another option there a braid line that is the diameter of 20lbs braid but at 50lbs strength it's sold in EBay forget the name but is very exspensive 260 for 1000 yards.......so any how 6500 BG....seems more reasonable than an 8000.....so hope this info helps in any way 😀

I used to use braid on my BG 5000 and it was 40 to 60lbs....but what I notice it was harder to cast and harder to retrieve.Reason being is the thicker the braid the more water it holds this adds weight and drag on both casting and retrieving and grips the rods eye rings and line roller to well so I change to mano 25lbs P-line CX floro carbon coated and cast amazing.But with my BG 4000 I kept the braid on BECAUSE it was only 20lbs J-Braid 6 weave and able to cast EXTREMELY FAR and also last forever. Hope this help you decision 😃😃😃

Should I get the 8000 or the 6500 for yellowtail??
@israelvibrations100
@israelvibrations100 6 лет назад
Felix Vargas wow good question that's a tough one.......if your going up 30lb to 60lb pounds cuz I know they are fighters...and runners 6000.....but I also heard that Daiwa Slatiga 5500...thoe coast 900$ to 1000$ can handle SERIOUSLY powerful fish like Shark, Sting RAY...yellow tail Tuna....I would go for a 6000 BG.....nut if your going deep water like 400 590yrds down a charter boat 8000 would be better fit......

Thanks for the info. After watching your video I got completely sold on the daiwa over the penn battle. I usually fish off the rocks in Mexico or off the boats in San Diego. I'm just wondering if it would be easier to cast a jig with the 6500. I'm ordering it tonight, best price I found was on ebay. My heart is wanting the 8000 because that thing is a beast. But my mind says get the 6500....???

Felix Vargas ill get back to in a bit.....let me ask some questions...ill get to you soon as I can
@israelvibrations100
@israelvibrations100 6 лет назад
Felix Vargas ok I'm back the questions I have for you is your saying you want to cast...or jig...im assuming heavy lures at least 2 to 4 oz the 5000 can handle that with noooooo problem it is a perfect power reel that has line retrieve of 47 inches....witch is ridiculously FAST.....i personally love this reel only because I beat the life out of it but learning to by doing so, on my other videos, I learned the the line roller needs special grease to handle constant serious pressure because I used 5oz...and up to 10 oz weights for bait fishing the grease I use is Supertech Marine Grease Works Awsome if your going to Man handle your BGs Lol😂😂 with 22lbs of drag.....the 8000 is at 33lbs of drag witch is ALOT...... My question to you is how big of fish do you plan on catching the BG 5000 can handle up 60lbs...or more....but not sure how often you'll be catching fish that size...if it's more often......6000 would be a better demand...but for lures and jigging...5000.....would be better if your below 60lbs on constant basis with Fish Size....with other issue you had on the 8000.....being hard to turn, ill will back to you on that...i had similar issues....but will find out why......so let me know how you fish what you use and how often your out fishing that will help me determine what choice is best for your fishing need...let me know every detail......this will be fun to understand and helps us all make a great choice 😀😀😀

I gt a Bg 8000..its a rubbish reel. I gt a Penn battle 2 much older reel..I gt more from this older reel than this Daiwa B.G...I will not recommend the B.G. plus spares too expensive...I personally will never buy ànother Daiwa product. The best reel Daiwa made was a multiplier Sl50 value for money caught many monsters wt this reel.
