I've got the same setup. Originally I had the 2015 dogfight reel to match this rod but the new 14k Saltiga makes the whole combo so much lighter and more enjoyable to use. I opted for the Saltiga PE6 12Ply line though.
What would be the best knot to tie from the leader to the snap/solid ring .. and what is your advice to end the leader with (snap or solid ring)? The question is regarding the big game (yellow fin Tuna) / PE8.
@@moocherhunters Japanese have been using Kevlar leaders for Gt . You can't break it. I no they are using overhead reels. I saw the system they use on the( Ripple Fisher) videos. I can't speak Japanese. But they attach the kevlar leader onto there mainline they using daiwa saltiga overhead two speed reels. The length of leader is fairly long. . It's cast through your guide just like a flouro leader. From what I am lead to understand, is they have been able to pull the Gt out of structure with Kevlar leaders.
The reel has an extra high gear ratio. Speedy reels pretty often lack torque - but there's no feeling that this one lacks torque? (I realise you haven't had it long - won't have used it very much yet.) Cheers
From the Pelagic Pursuit vid: "Usually I'm not one for a high speed reel, but that 14, the gears in it are just so incredibly large ... It's so comfortable to reel. And even fighting this fish - generally I have a lot of dramas with big fish down deep. This guy just was easy."
At a guess I would say the Saltiga 14000 is similar to the BG 5000. Could be wrong though. You can look up weight comparisons. BG's are a nice entry level Topwater reel. I have used the 6500 before and it went well
I'm sorry but the new saltiga 2020 doesn't hit me on the aesthetic department. If I want gold and black I would go for Stella but I want those blue, silver and gold aesthetics with a little bit of carbon sprinkle all over it Ayyeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
