Mike: “You told him to get out, right?” Jr: “No, I actually told all the other racers to get in and see how it feels” Jr is one of a kind. Protect this man at all costs
I love how even though Jr was and is such a big part of NASCAR, he is still a fan as well. His excitement and passion shows through in the podcast. I sure appreciate the Dirty Mo Media team and The Dale Jr Download. This glimpse into who this man really is is so great.
That's one of my favorite car of your dad's. I love those era of cars because they had they're own personality and looked better than the ones they have today
Love seeing Junior on this podcast. He’s grown into his own person and is so completely honest, comfortable and living his best life. Way to go Junior love seeing and listening to the real you
I’ve followed the 2 + years of progress you’ve made in restoring this beautiful DEI Chevrolet Nova, from the day at the auction to the day you drove it in front of thousands of Dale Earnhardt fans in the stands at Darlington and those who were only able to see it on RU-vid. I’ve seen the restoration photos while it was being torn down and I’ve seen you run it around the JRM campus. It’s such a historically IMPORTANT vehicle in your father’s legacy, and one day soon I’ll be seeing it in person, as I saw it the day it won at Daytona. Great job, Dale. Your daddy’s still smiling from ear to ear.
Jr, got to tell ya..I've been a fan of yours from the very beginning of your career..even a bigger fan of yours now..you had a great career racing, but i think you've found your calling on being a ambassador of nascar...so easy to probably walk away into the sunset, but you haven't and thank you for bringing forth the history for new fans and current ones as well..great job!
Jr I was there with my 10 yr old Grandson to see our First race ever and got the Best show ever watching you and the car Also explaining to him the history of You and your dad in racing. Thanks For the memory of a lifetime for me and My Grandson
Its incredible what you do for the sports history in the modern era. There is truly no one else that can do it the way you do it! It has to be you! Thank you for all you do. As ive been starting my family, watching races and staying tuned in got tough. When i found this show recently it pulled me back in full force. Im sorry i didnt know it existed beforehand. Thank you, im so glad to be a fan of yours.
Fox Sports really looks like crap for not even showing it!!! I think they should do a special one hour documentary about it in order to get us back on their side.
Such a cool thing Jr did with this. I didn't care that they didn't show it, I knew where to go to see it. Jr taking a backseat to the car is so on par for him, but I was excited to see him driving that car because it means so much to him.
Dale Jr. Thanks for all the things you present to us about Dale Sr. I was a big fan of his and you also. Don't get tired of hearing about you both. Keep it up.
Imagine if Dale Sr was still alive and went on this trip and walked up and saw Noah just sitting in the car He'd be like "BOY IF YOU DONT GET THE HELL OUTTA MY RACE CAR"
Dale would stare at Noah and put the fear of God in him lol. Just how Dale was. Never liked anybody else in his cars unless it was his kin. I'm only 23 and I wish I could've seen Dale race in his prime. What a badass...
@@UltraCitron Dale was a tad older than me. He came along just when I was really starting to love racing. I got to witness his whole career which was filled with so many stories. Nowadays you just here the major highlights, but there were so many more. It seems like you either loved him or hated him in the beginning, but in the end, well, we all saw the line when he won Daytona. That for me was the cherry on top.
My girlfriend and I were in Charlotte for the Memorial Day weekend races in 2019. One of her family members through marriage works for Jr. Motorsports, and he gave us a private tour of the shop. Saw this car sitting on the shop floor as it was being restored. Awesome that Jr. got to drive his dads car.
My mom's 1st car was a nova super sport ..From the 70s..I was born in 1977 this was her 1st ever car..I remember her turning the key off and the thing would still run..lol..Was white and black..Wish it was still around..But back then it was just another car..Great video Dale.
Awesome car , great seeing it. Thanks Jr. For doing this and all you do for the fans. But shame on Fox for not showing the car , dang that's just messed up, it's a insult to your dad's legacy.
Great story Jr. Thanks for sharing. I was not at race, I was watching TV and was disappointed about TV coverage. But you took it there for the moment in time and those fans there got to share in that experience. That was what in was all about. You were elated and that was the best part. And you put some good ju ju on the track for JRM!! Can not wait to see at shop or HoF. Thank you, again.
The NOVA looked great man gave me goosebumps and then just your smile it was great JR u r one fine man all the things you do about still backing late models and giving drivers a chance that r great driver's but wasn't going to get that brake your great for the sport Nascar is lucky they got u still in the sport
Just straight CLASS! I enjoyed watching Dale Jr. Race. That goes without saying. But the broadcaster and more importantly SPORT LIASON he has become is just, in Dale Jr.'s vernacular..."COOL AS HELL"!
Class act Jr is. Wanted it all to be about the car. Even if the matching suit would look great with it he didn't want to risk at all people not looking at the car.
NASCAR executives don't realize just how many "older NASCAR fans" that after raising their kids & as time goes by just don't have the time or just doesn't watch as much as they used to are still race fans from a distance. Dale Jr's podcast is only bringing back the older Xfinity/Cup fans back to the sport!! RESPECT is what its called Mike you are right!!
I was always a fan of your Dad and of you, but I can’t lie and say I’m this huge NASCAR fan. What I am a huge fan of is these podcast! I just recently found them so I had a lot to watch. I’m blown away by the stories, history and memories both good and bad. Really gives some insight to someone who doesn’t know everything there is to know about NASCAR. You seem to have a really great group of people producing, co-hosting and scheduling guest. Thank you and keep up the great work! I want to come to N.C. now and see that car!
Seems like Dale's the kind of guy that would let anyone sit in it, I think it brings him more joy to let people live in the moment than what the car is to him. Such a cool dude.
I donated my Dale Earnhart guitar to a local golf couse who have display cases. So people could enjot it. It was 1 of 10 in the world. Signed by all band members that played at his tribute concert @ Daytona
I've been lucky enough to have seen this car a couple of times at Laguna Seca and possibly Sears Point before you got a hold of it, Junior. It sure seems to have brought you a lot of joy! I knew when I was standing next to it that it was something special and unique.🏁
I remember when I first started watching NASCAR In Georgia the only tv channel that showed the races was TNN and My mother and father had just gotten cable tv My father had been taking me and my brother to some of the Atlanta races over the years This is all I remember about racing until it started coming on tv I used to watch every Daytona 500 But this was the only NASCAR race that came on tv I really became a fan when TNN started showing all of the races I remember Eli Gold announcing the races on TNN and it was great When Dale won his last race I remember being overwhelming with emotion Because I was listening to Eli on the radio but watching it on tv and I remember Eli saying Fans are just beside themselves When Dale was taking the lead on the white flag My brother and another good friend was there at Talladega on this day and I could have been there too But we used to go to every Atlanta race and Talladega race and a bunch of races at Daytona for the Pepsi 400 It still blows my mind every time I looked back on this race I remember Benny Parson saying Earnhardt is in the middle of the pack I don’t think he has a chance at winning this race and when Dale passes John Andretti in Richard Perry’s 43 car On tv I remember them saying and here comes Earnhardt The intimidator is scraped and beaten but he will not be denied and Benny Parson having to eat his words by saying How did he make through all of these cars I had so much excitement running through me at this moment I could not stay in my seat I mean I never counted Earnhardt out of any race at Talladega or Daytona Because if another racer wanted to win either one of those races They were going to have to deal with Dale Earnhardt and that 3 car Him winning his 10th race at Talladega was nothing new to me because I had watched him dominate this track so much over the years I remember going to a race in 1996 with a friend of mine who was a big Bill Elliot fan and I really didn’t want to go because it was pouring rain on this day and we were still in Georgia and I told my friend I’m not going all way to Talladega and sit in the parking lot just to hear them cancel the race and at 12:00 pm it was still raining and I was mad because I had driven all the way from Georgia to Talladega I was just about ready to tell my friend that I was going back home and he said just let’s wait for 30 more minutes so I agreed and about 20 minutes later The sun came out and we were walking in to the grandstands This is the day that you could have heard a pin drop at Talladega I forget where Earnhardt started the race but it didn’t take long for him to get to the front He had no doubt the fastest car that day Until him and Ernie Irvin, and sterling Martin got together and I had never witnessed a car unpacking the wall with such force and after the smoke had cleared I was thinking the worst and everyone else was thinking the same thing because it went from being so loud you had to yell at the person standing next to you To being so quiet that you could have heard a pin drop Then they announced they cut Earnhardt out of his car and the only thing wrong with him was I think he broke his collarbone On top of all of this The following week he captured the pole for one of the two road races they race every year I can’t remember if it was Sonoma in California Watkins Glen in New York But it blew me away that he had just broken his collarbone the week before and now he’s sitting on the pole for a road course race Me and my brother and four or five other friends used to camp out at every Atlanta race and Talladega for ten years in a row I was at the Atlanta race when he beat Bobby LaBonte for his last win in Atlanta He won ten times in Atlanta as well as TalladegaTo me he dominated Atlanta because of how he would make every other driver look like they was stuck in 3rd gear It used to blow my mind how good he was at Atlanta I think it was one of the 1986 races there win he literally lapped the whole field I think Rusty Wallace was the only other car that was able to stay on the lead lap and he pretty much lapped everyone in one in the last race of the year in 1989 When Rusty won his championship and he dominated both races their in 1990 After he passed away I didn’t even want to go back to the race tracks Until You started your four in a row win streak in Talladega But after you quit driving the number 8 car for DEI I quit going to the race tracks all together It wasn’t the same anymore and now since they have screwed up the rules of NASCAR like they have I hardly ever even watch it on tv anymore NASCAR will never be the same without the name Earnhardt in it I remember when Alan Kiki and Dave Allison passed and Richard Petty‘s grandson, but it wasn’t the same as the 2001 Daytona 500 I don’t even like to think about that day
that's true to the heart as you can get, the man and his car, your family may have had velcro on those coat tails, but class is how we remember people long after
TV didnt show it and I was mad and thought I missed it. Dale did it all on his own dime and man hours so it was perfect. Everything is planned out and that was the 5 minute TV break. Notice on saturdays they dont show the national anthem.
Wow Ive had the 1/24 model for the last 25 years saw Dale SR race it when I was 7 in about 1986 pretty cool to see it again. Sr was more dominant in that car then in the cup series at that time and he was winning cup championships. The old busch series in the 80's had v-6 motors and downsized 8's kinda like the old Goody's Dash Series.
The focus has got to be putting on the show for THE FANS, if they go away then the series goes away. The broadcasters and series organizers need to remember that!
If RU-vid allowed a GIF mine would be the cat vigorously shaking his head no, no, no because I think we all know when Dale Jr does anything concerning NASCAR's past, present or even future it's nothing to do with any network. His heart is always, how can I make our sport better. How can I draw back the old school racer while also bringing in the new fan. Anybody that Dale Jr knows his blood bleeds NASCAR.
I'm not nearly old enough to remember any of them in their actual racing days, but the 8 Nova, 2 Monte Carlo and 3 Wrangler cars are my favorites (along with the iconic black 3 of course) I buy every tshirt I find of them.
That was an awesome experience!! @DaleJr built that car and his Daddy's spirit lives on @TooToughtoTame!! @jrmotorsports winning the Race 🏁 and the dash4cash didnt suck either!!
Not sure what was worse, not showing the olds cars going around the track, or listening to Bubba and Eric. What an epic fail. Couldn’t even to stand to listen to the broadcast. Those 2 were as excited to be there as watching paint dry! Can’t wait for NBC
I'm STILL pissed FOX did not show this. I missed the pre-race segment. What I really wanted to see was the 8 car leading the pace laps. The job everyone did restoring this car is phenomenal. Hope to see it in person one day.
I heard Bill Elliott’s Coors Thunderbird and David Pearson’s Mercury Cyclone didn’t get much tv time before the Cup race either. I know they have to pay the bills but the sport isn’t going to gain any new fans or please any of the current fans by shoving commercial after commercial down everybody’s throat at the expense of quality tv coverage.
Jr. got one thing wrong. The car wasn’t the star. His dad was. 20 years on and he’s still the name that all other drivers are measured against and the one all the fans miss. I’m sure it was good for everyone to see that car make laps that day.
I can't imagine Jr going to a track and entering with the rest of the fans. He's ROYALTY. He's gotta come in the back. Right? Or is he that cool and he comes in just like everybody else?
NBC did a similar thing when Richard drove Dale Srs last win car at dega in 2019. They hardly showed it and did an in car interview with chase elliot instead.
I would loved to have seen the car. That alone would have sold more tickets and had more tv viewers. I’ve always said the older cars have so much more character which goes without saying.
Used to see one of Red Farmer’s old cars in back of a garage when I was a teen…. Wanted it, but the owner kept saying “naw, that old things frame is bent”. Have no idea where it ended up. That was 30 years agp
@@johntalley6028 dang, too bad u didn't grab it back then lol, that thing would of been awesome, There's a guy in my little town and he got a Darrell Waltrip 88 car.. he says its real and back in the day his buddy bought it from junior Johnson and it was all smashed up, he said junior sold them the car and fenders and stuff to fix and they did, and his friend died it something and left it to him.. I kinda believe him cuz he's a old dude and seems like he wouldn't lie,, but I also think him and his buddy just tried to build a old monte Carlo into a race car and didn't know what to do with it so they just painted it up like a old junior Johnson owned dw car lol.. idk I can't really tell if it was really raced or not.. It looks like it was
To Mike's point, the same issue happened when RCR had Dale's 3 car that he won his last race in at Taledega. Very little coverage. In fact, only RCR go pro cameras had any real footage. Very disappointing.
Man-O-Man ... Hmm-Hmm-Hmm What a totally messed up move fox11 ! Not everyone watches the pre-race ... What a fabulous car restoration Dale ... it is better the the original What a Beaut she truly is ! Rev those engines Dale at fox11 ! Thank you Dale & the Dirty Mo Team ... loved the PC !
I'm sure there were a few of these built. I remember seeing one that was raced in the Mitty historics at Road Atlanta, driven by a great road racer, Gene Felton
Your imagination Dale🤙. That is the portal of manifestation . Your ability to perceive the what / how of others potential experience, is the connection to the all that is. It goes without saying, makes sense why you have so many people interested in the all that is, your up 2! The universe is as big as the imagination. Hope you are able to help your kids do the same!
I did see --on tv.. Jr bow his head in the #8 car during the Prayer & National Anthem , and so I took a picture of the tv.. not because I knew of any controversy, I captured the moment for myself and simply too cherish that moment that one time Jr. got to have with this car before a race @ the lady in black. to hear gentleman start your engines and to Fire up the willing engine -responding with that Roar... Back in the Later days of late model sportsman & In the early days of the Busch Series I lived a few doors down from some of the best builders of these type of cars here in Hampton, Virginia. (Diane Teel #19 first female Busch drivers car was at the fox crossing shell station 1/8th mile away. The best appearing car award winner at Martinsville Skip Jutras#89 at his 4 car garage out behind his house 1/8th in the opposite direction. Bobby Creech, Bill Champion #10 Hampton, Bob Shreeves #9 Norfolk, Elton Sawyer #43 Chesapeake) just a few of my role models watching races at Langley Speedway or Southside ... these cars are the stars of my life !! all the drivers have their places as well BUT>>> the cars have etched them selves into my memory forever engrained in such a way that I began working at the local service station just down off (Bob Segar's) main street actually Walter Allen's Service Center pumping union 76gas driving tow trucks at the races and selling race fuel and where I purchased A 1973 Mercury Cougar for the upcoming 150 lap Enduro for 50 bucks entry fee and 50 bucks for the car i put in a steel cage and had my first racecar . in august 1991 my first race as a driver/mech/owner/hauler driver// etc..etc.. etc.. my 2 door Granada daily driver had an Ernie Elliot 468lift 280 duration 11.5/1 ratio 302cid engine rated at 750 hp@8,000 rpm 1988-1989 I graduating from Diesel school with a state championship in VICA and a scholarship to Ohio Diesel .. "but I chose" (past tense) to not make a choice and that was a choice in itself I tried to pursue racing at the local level and worked from the tire shops and dealerships to boat building and steel fabrication to learn the skills I wanted to master I have been fortunate and was mentored by the most giving people of their time and knowledge of their life's wisdom and skill .. so my memories are as Elvis stated sweetened thru the ages - just like wine.. I wouldn't have missed it for the world.. said Ronnie Milsap once in a song, Once in every life ... someone comes along, And you came to me ... it was almost like a song. You were in my heart ... right where you belong, And we were so in love ... it was almost like a song. January through December ... we had such a perfect year, Then the flames became a dying ember ... All at once you weren't here. Now my broken heart ... cries for you each night, And it's almost like a song ... but it's much too sad to write. Now my broken heart ... cries for you each night, And it's almost like a song ... but it's much to sad to write ... Much too sad to write. thanks for the moments Dale Sr. I miss you like so many do.. and hey maybe I would have seen you in Richmond someday Jr. , maybe I should take up bowling again ... finally..? pull out my old 3 ball ,its been 20 years since I have attempted to throw it for a strike... I remember I used to go to the "This Week in Nascar on tues. night with Eli Gold" when the races came to RIR. I would go and "watch the radio show" at the holiday inn.. just to go bowling afterwards like the mrn crew .. just to bump into my heroes ..the broadcasters, the car builders, the dew crew, and the driver's... long live the throwback @ Darlington and may we fans show up with a throwback scheme of our own...in mind and spirit "live to make memories that last and help another along the way"... Please get rid of the flicker transition between live video and pictures. It's quite disturbing to the eyes. Otherwise, great to hear the story of the journey of the #8 Nova.
When I think back to the 80's when I started dirt racing street stock cars I ruined some classics,I had a 69 Nova,I bought a 69 Challenger that the guy had painted like the general Lee I tore it apart and slapped a cage in it then a nice 68 Camaro then a split bumper Camaro, don't let teenagers ruin classics parents 😂
