JR was so great because he was kind of complicated. There's no doubt that he wanted Bobby to be happy, even if that meant Pam. Make no mistake, though, he ALWAYS had something up his sleeve.
Hagman is great in this scene, as always. But watch Victoria - she goes toe to toe with him and is excellent. She never would have been able to pull this off earlier in the series. But she grew quite a bit as an actor during her tenure on the series.
They should've teamed Pam and JR up a bit more (on the same side) not romantically, but in Ewing Oil. I think there could've been some interesting storylines
Pam was one of the few women on the show who didn't fall under JR's spell (much to his chagrin I'm sure lol) and I loved it when she snapped on him because you could see the surprise in his eyes at how fierce she could get. That's why I loved when Sue Ellen got herself together after being driven to emotional disarray by JR's antics with other women and general disregard for her and became a thorn in his side (although I also loved when they were on the same side as a true power couple because the chemistry between Larry Hagman and Linda Gray was sizzling). Having Pam and JR team up to take down common enemies to Ewing Oil would have been great and it could have led to Christopher and John Ross being power cousins instead of perpetuating the JR/Bobby dynamic all over again on New Dallas.
Sparks flew whenever Pam and JR shared a scene (same thing with JR and Valene). They really blew it during the dream season - we were looking forward to fireworks between these two as they became business partners. Instead, nothing ever really came of it.
@@raystrong2823 I get what you’re saying but I’m not about to compare JR to him. At least JR had an awesome sense of humor and could actually produce real tears of sadness like when Bobby died.
@@AT-sd9qq Oh my bad. I would not INTENTIONALLY...lol...make that (straight to the point) comparison. There is none. Trump's the worse. It's just that "drama draining" with both was exasperating to say the least.
Nope, it was J.R. being J.R. He thought if Pam and Bobby got back together she would stop siding with Cliff in the fight for Ewing Oil. A week later he wants Bobby and Jenna to marry lol
The relationship between Pam and J.R. was always fascinating. I know they thought losing Bobby was the destroying the show (so they brought him back), but the show just kind of stopped being interesting when J.R. lost his true nemesis Pamela Barnes. Interestingly, the original conception of the show was supposed to be about their feud, starting after Bobby dying after the mini-series and the show picking up with Pam and J.R. fighting over Bobby's inheritance.
If they hadn’t blown it during the dream season, the show could have carried on nicely after Bobby’s death with JR and Pamela as business partners and rivals. But they really didn’t team them up nearly as often as they should have.
Wallpaper is making a comeback. It was a big deal in the 80's when all that traditional/colonial look came back during the Dallas/Dynasty/Reagan years.
Larry Hagman played that part so well, load of snobbery that says film/theatre is where the great actors perform but Larry was magnificent in that role. Hat's off!
After everything he's done to break them apart and treated her while she lived at Southfork he's suggesting they get back together? Yeah evidently he had something up his sleeve.
reginald jones At this time Cliff and Jamie were suing JR and Bobby for ownership of Ewing Oil, and Pam was bankrolling them. JR presumably hoped that if Pam got back together with Bobby, then she would abandon Cliff.
No, not really. Bobby only made a claim to the court he was Charlie's father to seek custody of her just after Jenna was convicted to murdered the real father Naldo. J.R. wanted it to seem true to Pam that Bobby was the father all that time.
Whilst that is true, Jenna did put Bobby's name on the birth certificate. Bobby used that go get custody of Charlie when Jenna was in prison. Whilst Bobby wasn't Charlie's father, the birth certificate was used as evidence. No continuity error.
@@alanslevin8223 There were continuity errors. Bobby and Pam were told onscreen years before by Jenna that Bobby was not the father of Jenna’s daughter. Years later, Bobby said to Jenna that she had never told him whether he was the father. And there were storylines about it.
It wasn't bad continuity, Bobby claimed Charlie was his his child to prevent her from being a ward of the state. Jenna put him on the birth cert to stop Naldo from taking her to Italy. Naldo was Charlie's father.
JR knew that at this point that chances of Jenna of being convicted was looking like a reality, that's why he wants Bobby to regain happiness, and why he feels that Pam and Bobby ought to get back together.
I think that's when they thought the Barnes along with Jamie Ewing might be entitled to part of Ewing Oil. Pam was siding with her brother and Jamie. JR thought she'd side with Bobby if they got back together. He was up to his usual schemes: all about himself.
When Jenna went to jail for the death of her husband in order for Charlie to come with Bobby to Southfork he needed proof that he was the father and that way she could go with him instead of going into the system. Bobby knew he wasn't the father but he had the birth certificate and showed it to the judge and then he was able to take Charlie while Jenna was in prison.
Bobby had no children, in his bloodline, till Jenna married Ray & gave birth to Bobby's son. Ray adopted that child & they left Dallas. And the show was filmed in Dallas/Ft. Worth area.
And yes, Bobby knew the story about Charlie"s real parentage. Jenna, her ex, and Bobby met at Jenna's, where Jenna's ex showed the fake birth certificate, and had to tell Bobby the truth. Bobby left, angry. Then Jenna killed her ex, and went to jail. She killed her ex, because he had kidnapped Charlie and sent her to Italy.
I think he wanted to bring Pam back in with Bobby so she would stop automatically siding with Cliff against Ewing Oil. Plus, he did want Bobby happy because then he wouldn't be so difficult to work with lol. JR always had ulterior motives, didn't he?
@@DarlingNikki2 Oh ..That seems right..But why can be be with Jenna ..?? JR was always gloting over her ?? Oh..but wait was this the season she was in Jail ?? XD
@lala.bewitched . . . in some cultures when a person realizes their mortality with a short time to live, they'll seek out those they did wrong to and be contrite with them, even going as far as apologizing for the wrongs they may have inflicted on others. In a way it gives the person a sense of atoning for their sins.
did not care much for Pam's acting (chick cld nvr produce one tear with her fake crying)....but i will give her her due.....the chick cld work a hairstyle sue n donna tried to keep up but pam left them in the dust.....can't say i like them all but she gets an A for effort...
