Larry Hagman and Linda Gray visit Larry King on CNN to talk about "Dallas", Murder In The First, their careers and more! An absolutely fantastic interview with 2 iconic stars. Part 1.
The world had NEVER seen anything like "Dallas". First it went from a relatively popular U.S. T.V. show to the biggest, completely unprecedented phenomenons on the planet.
I like that they were amazing friends. Larry had an amazing 50 year marriage. If they’d become a couple it might have ruined the good working relationship and friendship they had for most of their lives.
Larry Hagman nailed it about the era. I was a young married mother at the time and the recession and inflation made for a lot of financial uncertainty…so spending money on going out was not on the schedule. Friday nights at our house were chili nachos and Dallas night. It was a treat and something fun to look forward to. Those were simpler times and sweet memories.
As you say that Larry Hagman was lucky enough to have TWO gorgeous leading ladies,,, will besides Sue Ellen Ewing (played by Linda Grey),, I ASSume you're talking about the very beautiful Mandy Winger (played by Deborah Shelton)! Hey,,, that particular scenario was a TOTAL,,, (rolling in the grass,,, LAUGHing your belly off) RIOT! First of all,,, Mandy Winger (Deborah Shelton) started OUT being the girlfriend to SUPER Loser Cliff Barnes,, (ha ha hee hee)! Yeap,,, leave it up to,, goofball LOSER Cliff Barnes,, to totally SCREW things up,, (and to get Mandy Winger,,, totally SICKened by Cliff's "juvenille ettiquete towards women"),, resulting in (yeppp you GUESSED it) JR Ewing stepping right in the wings,, at the right time,, the right place to STEAL Mandy Winger,, AWAY from the super LOSER,,, Cliff Barnes (while at the same time,, that super cool,, classy operator,, JR Ewing,, was still,,, very much MARRIED to Sue Ellen,,, (Linda Gray))! Don't you just LOVE it (ha ha hee hee LMAO)! JR Ewing was most definitely,,, a very CLASSY,,, cool guy,, and he was (and always WILL be) my HERO!!! (ROTFLMAO)!!! :-) :-)
Agree. It’s also the nudge nudge wink wink that he delivers with each line as well. He will do something absolutely heinous and then say something so hilarious that I absolutely die laughing while calling him several names as I’m chuckling. If he wasn’t funny while he was being just HORRIBLE, he wouldn’t be any fun to watch. He definitely put his comedic I Dream of Jeannie background to good use.
Yess,,,, Linda Gray was indeed,,, stunningly beautifull,, but (puullleeease) do NOT forget,,, Larry Hagman was lucky enough to have TWO gorgeous leading ladies,,, at same time. Besides Sue Ellen Ewing (played by Linda Grey),, there was also the very beautiful Mandy Winger (played by Deborah Shelton)! Hey,,, that particular scenario was a TOTAL,,, (rolling in the grass,,, LAUGHing your belly off) RIOT! Rest in peace larry one. The all time great actors you were born to play jr. that part no one could have played so great so excellent such a great actor excellent superb acting
Linda looks beautiful as always. Most beautiful smile in Hollywood. They must have had alot of fun! The perfect job is loving what you do. Why the show was so successful and on so long.
This is a rare gem of an interview. Larry and Linda really love each other. Also, I would give a whole week's pay to find out what Linda REALLY thinks of Victoria.
I adore how modest Larry Hagman was. Linda said he was that way on set too. I think JR was Larry's "alter ego" in REAL LIFE bcuz of the way he gave that childlike giggle after Larry King asked him what it was like to play "JR," and also how he went into detail about how "JR" got his way and the women. He said it almost with admiration. Not to mention how very well he played JR as though it was second nature. I have to keep reminding myself that this is the same Larry Hagman who played Major Nelson on "I dream of Jeannie." TWO TOTALLY DIFFERENT CHARACTERS. You know that's a great actor when you forget that it's the SAME PERSON playing different characters due to how he has the ability to make each character his own WITHOUT any similarities to ANY other characters he may have played on other sets. Not every actor can pull that off. JR & MAJOR NELSON are seriously worlds apart in regards to personality. For example, Barbara Eden (i dream of Jeannie), she's a wonderful actress. However, although she had small parts in "Dallas," I still saw the somewhat "playfulness" of Jeannie in her on the Dallas set. I wasn't able to separate her from I dream of Jeannie. There was a vengeful side of her that I'd never seen from her on screen, but seconds later, a bit of "Jeannie" came out of her. This is what I'VE NEVER seen from Larry Hagmans character JR. He's always managed to keep BOTH personalities of Major Nelson & JR SEPARATE as though two totally different people played both roles. Amazing skills. Absolutely AMAZING!!!!

See it was based of a true story...the oil part. Larry was from Texas, Jim Davis was an oil man from Texas before acting. Larry said he knew an Oil man with 4 sons....Jock had 4 sons! Linda looks great and her hair looks great too.
Loove and MISS them BOTH on screen together on Dallas and here (no matter the age or decade 70s-2021)! Lightning strike, lottery odds organic *chemistry! Linda STILL hot inside/out at 80!! Just laying reeally low cause of Covid but her attitude, demeanor and health as vibrant as ever!!
Adorable, marvellous, legend both of you. Larry and Linda. Tip. No way hollywoidcan produced such a great actor and actress like the one we saw in Dallas. I miss the show. 1978 I m 8 yrs old. Nvr miss a single episode WTH my family. The best when everybody curious and want to know who shot Jr. Brilliant and outstandg performance.
ALL WAS HEALTHY AND WONDERFUL... EVERYTHING MISSING IN MOST MARRIAGES AND RELATIONSHIPS MUST ENVY THIS PROFESSIONAL AND ULTIMATELY HUGELY WARM FRIENDSHIP, THE LATTER MISSING FROM MOST MARRIAGES!!
Amintiri Superbe care vor rămâne pe veci in inimile noastre ,. Pentru Linda , timpul a rămas în loc de mult ,. O mare Doamna și un mare artist ,. Respect. Pentru toți Actorii acestui film 👏👏👏👏👏👏♥️
On this RU-vid video Part 1 Larry Hagman needed a good eyebrow trim. One eyebrow is very long and has light hairs at the end, whereas the other eyebrow is normal.
OH men, loved Larry King, but why on earth he never ever get his Homework done? JR was never a Backround character. Reminds me on an Interview with Seinfeld, where he asked, if he was cancelt.... Anway: Nice Broadcast thx for uploading it.
I found it an okay interview. First, the man does NO research, which I don't understand. Second, I've SEEN the Peers Morgan chat! Oh, then, Larry asks one more question, which he'd asked, word-for-word, in a previous interview. 'Night, Mr. "King."
Hey everyone,, I myself watched DALLAS,,,serial,,, pretty much every Friday Night,, starting Fall 1978,,, until May 1991,,, however just reference ONE episode (or Season Cliffhanger show) where JR Ewing,, actually came up as LOSER? True,, there was one season where he was SHOT (but so what,, he Rebounded nicely). There was another season where the Justice Department forced him (JR) to sell Ewing Oil to Jeremy Wendell and WesTar (but again,, so what,, before next seasons end,, JR got ALL that back) and yet there was another season cliff hanger when his newly discovered son,, James,, tore up JR's "release from the Funny Farm" papers,, right in JR's face (yet again,, so friggin what) JR certainly REbounded from all that,, early the next season. So all THAT said,,, JR Ewing (played by Larry Heman) ALWAYS,, (UMM) "Landed,,, ON his feet" EARLY the next season,,,, was always riding high and all,, (wearing his WHITE hat) IN the saddle,, as JR Ewing,, ALWAYS ALWAYS,,, came out on top (even over his younger brother Bobby),, and JR was NEVER,,,, EVER,,, ever,,, a final LOSER (totally OPPOSITE of ALWAYS a loser,,, Cliff Barnes)!!!! Yeee HAWL !!! We should ALL,, tip our hats to JR Ewing,,, as JR would make Jerry Jones (owner of the Dallas COWboys) PROUD!!! (ROTFLMAO)!
