It's so sad to see this family has lost everything they had worked for for so many years. I pray they will be able to rebuild somewhere there is no chance of being washed away and it will once again be a home place they can have for years to come. May God bless you all🙏🏼🙂
My heart breaks for these peopl😢e as well as the owners of the house. Absolutely unnecessary to have the money and not fix the dam. God sees the selfishness and will repay plus give a better home and store than ever thought possible!! 💟✝️
I think it is fascinating to see the layers of the earth and the sheer power of nature to be able to cut right thru what appears to be rock in some layers.
If they had started removing that tree/brush debris from the dam from the beginning, all of this might not have happened! I feel very badly for the house/store owners.
With the kind of flow rate the river was going at, I don't think it would have made a difference. The river would have gone around the dam any way. That's even before taking consideration how they would have been able to remove the trees/brushes without endangering themselves.
That is all you to get in front of floodwaters. Do you realize what you just said? Are you going to be the man who does that job of removing trees from a dam when it is at flood stage? Really? You ever been around flood waters? Do you know how much all that water weighs? And in addition it is moving at a very brisk pace.
Who are the idiots making the decisions there? They brought in heavy equipment to destroy a building that still had a chance of survival, but could not bring in a crane days ago to clear debris behind the dam before things got worse? Pure negligence and stupidity in my opinion.
3 Mexicans with nothing but a shovel and a wheel borrow could have done a better job of cleaning out that building faster and with less mess than the guy running that backhole is doing. A total jack off job that has gained nothing.
I wrote essentially the same thing on a different video. Twenty bucks says the erosion won't reach that part of the land & they will have torn down the store for nothing. 😶 🇺🇸
Only an idiot would have had that store demolished. Queue ramping the "Dam fear" up across America. We're ruled by absolute idiots and clinical psychopaths.
That made no sense to me. How is demolishing it and having a pile of debris that could go at any minute down the river, along with a very heavy large metal back hoe any better than leaving the store there. Like the debris from that store building would amount to anything compared to the massive amount of rock and dirt from the possible further eroding bank.
@@Ron-rs2zl Trump hasn't been in office since 2020 so how in the Hell did he give hundreds of billions to the Ukraine for a war that started a year AFTER he was out?!???
Federal Money?!? Ohhhhh you mean that hundreds of billions of our tax dollars (and the 10% extra for The Big Guy) that was given to the Ukraine?!?! Gee...just think what that money could have done for Minnesota, Iowa, South Dakota, and Nebraska this year so far.
Oh yeah this generated tons of money and you know damn well they're not going to repair that. They'll probably block off a 100 ft back from the edge and head home.
It would have only been a matter of time before the store fell into the river. Much of the ground has already fallen away. Ths sign wasn't compromised two days ago. Now it's getting ready to fall in the river.
@@Michael_Beanflip wow, truly just a little unhinged! Not everything is political! I'd be ashamed to have you as a supporter if I was a president! Get a life!
So they'll just leave it like that, I suppose 🤔. They'll just inspect the bridge and make repairs as needed and call it a day. Maybe tear down the dam while they're at it.
They can't. The sediment that it holds back is all that's holding up the highway bridge to the south. This has been an issue for over 20 years to keep or remove the dam. I worked in the dam on the generators around 20 yrs ago now. So maybe, I have half a clue about what I'm talking about.
@@MrHondablink That is why I said spillway. If the spillway was the same height as the base of the dam the debris could go over and the sediment would stay in place.
All they had to do was a little preplanned and opened up the other two gates and this would’ve never happened. They had time to bring in a house, mover and move that all the way it historic site and they left it there and knocked it down and I bet you that that ground will still be there when this over
The right most 2 wood slate gates were covered with concrete a few years back after it was determined that using them during a major flood would likely erode way the right-hand bank behind the dam and cause the dam to fail. At that time, hydro modeling showed that the dam could withstand as much water as came downstream sun/mon thru the five remaining bays (as long as they remained clear).
My heart breaks for them, but I believe that something greater is in their future. God was not the author of that flooding. Pray that these nice folks receive a blessing 10 times for their loss. They will!!
WHY DID THEY DO THAT? IT WASNT IN ANY WAY IN DANGER AS YOU CAN SEE IT WASNT CLOSE TO THE WATER. WHAT A SHAME THAT THE LOST THEIR HOME AND THEN THEY TAKE THE STORE TOO. NOT COOL FOR THE FAMILY, I HOPE THEY REBUILD SOMEWHERE SAFE. GID BLESS THIS FAMILY.
Their buildings are gone, the land they stood on has largely been swept down stream. But where does land ownership end at? Is land ownership only on the surface that the buildings stood on, or do you own the square footage, all the way down to the center of the earth? Does their land ownership remain in force even though the river now runs over the top of it? Hopefully the County won’t keep taxing them the same amount each year now that they have lost all their buildings?
They tore it down….. hell I would have waited till it fell in and let the insurance cover it….. I don’t know what happens when your land and home is washed away…. I guess it’s all covered under the policy. 🤔
makes me wonder if the foundation of the building was loosing it's integrity as the ground became less stable. Better to get all the important memories and equipment out of the store and tear it down to take the stress off the soaked ground than loose it and all the memories like they lost the house,
Oh they took it down. I hope they get the that mess away from the river in case of more land slides I would think there is enough stuff in the water already.
The crashes in West Florida are seemingly a bigger problem than this little town losing a spillway!$$$$$ Rivers are not ever going to be controlled $$$$
Looks like the People of Blue Earth County need to get them some new workers that know what the hell they are doing cuz these sure don't. They could have avoided all these by getting someone to remove the log jam in the first place... Its not like this was flooded before .
Hardly a tofu dam. The dam is still there, still standing. It's the banks around the dam that gave way. And the house collapsed into the river long ago. The store is what was torn down. You really don't know what you're talking about.
Why wasn't the dam demolished with blasting? As I understand it was scheduled to be taken out of service anyway. Even if it wasn't that still would have been a better option. And cheap. There must have been a liberal politician in charge.
