Her voice is so clear. Beautiful proper English. Love it. And the speech is really good. Inspiring. Indeed, life is one big examination. Agree with her very much.
Indeed, beautiful proper English , pronouciation and taking the time to speak clearly. These days the younger generation speak at neck breaking speed and have poor pronounciation. Even some royals could learn from this speach.
"I (too) took the road less travelled by / And that has made all the difference." A poem as peroration - - or is it the motto for a still uncompleted journey, as we risk the next step toward our final, but perhaps unanticipated, destination. An eloquent testimony; a compelling challenge ! Well said !!!
Dame Patricia truly is a remarkable woman. Without a script or a teleprompter in sight, she delivered an inspirational address, even reciting my favorite poem to perfection. Oh, to have been present that day.
She's 90 years old and is still capable of walking fairly quickly despite using a cane. She's in good health in comparison to most other 90 year old people.
Astounding indeed. I Googled 'Patricia Routledge 2019' so see what she looks like now and seeing recent pictures, I assumed that she abandoned public life at least 15 years ago. But it's her now! Amazing. All the best to you, Patricia
Not sure where you live, but she outdoes most of the 71-year olds near me. People smoked like chimneys, drank a lifetime and they're like the walking dead as soon they retire.
Thank you for sharing this. What a wonderful speech from an incredible, extraordinary woman who took great risks in her career and they certainly paid off!!
An amazing lady! An inspiration! A great speech, wise words, captivating. Such a delight to listen to. Live on! Dame Patricia Routledge woman of courage and joy!
90+ years of memorizing pages of dialogue. Check out "an unimportant woman." She rattles off page after page of the longest monologue ever, and you know every word is spot on. Incredible.
What immaculate enunciation and diction. Our beautiful English language as it should be spoken. I could listen to her all day. No slurred words or glottal stops. Just wonderful.
A beautiful voice. One of dignity and great diction. One of confidence and projection, but not one instilled with ego or superiority. It is refined, but still with a hint of her Birkenhead origins in there, of which, unlike some of her characters, she has never shied away from.
Now that Children is how a Woman who has had a well lived Life Gives a Speech to the Graduating Class who are about to Embark on a Journey of Life She has well Traveled over 90yrs Now.
@@hardyedwards5405 She didn't always do her own stunts. I saw them list the name of the stunt in the credits for the episode of her on the horse that galloped off with her.
What an amazing lady dame Patricia routledge is and look lovely at 90 ❤💖❤💖❤.. a great actress and fine soprano voice too🎤🎵🎶🎼.... it's bouquet b.u.c.k.e.t ..😀
Yes: just listen to her sing "Climb Every Mountain", recite from Jesus's last discourse in the Gospel of John, or deliver one of Bennett's dramatic monologues! What faith! What humanity! What inspiration!
She is a stunning woman. A force of nature in any role or capacity. I have always been a bit awed by her. I congratulate her on this honor, which I feel sure was as sweet fir her as being made a Dame.
Thank you for sharing...Dame Patricia is a remarkable lady on so many levels! Her closing of Frost's "The Road Not Taken" does indeed sum up her life and her hope for those graduates!
If their is anyone more deserving of this honor it's Patricia. She is such a "proper" Brit her annunciation is very regal if i do say so. Congrats Pat many American's only know you from "Keeping up Appearances". However, those who truly know you understand all of your accomplishments. Including that fabulous operatic trained voice of yours. Thank you for all the wonderful memories you created and left us with.
Thank you for sharing this. What an amazing lady Patricia Routledge is. She has so many talents - not least her musical capabilities, her comic timing and her acting prowess. This was a wonderful speech which had me on the verge of tears and envious of her sharp mind even now. God bless her and keep het xxx
Oh and what a dame Hyacinth is❗Hopefully Onslow, Daisy and Rose didn't pull up out front with their backfiring car and Rose didn't chase after the " dishy vicar "
I love her! How I miss her. I recorded many of the episodes and when I was sad or depressed I would watch her and in a few minutes I was howling with laughter. She brought me joy and I didn’t feel sad anymore! I will always be grateful I got to enjoy her TV shows. And I still do. My house was completely destroyed by fire a few weeks ago. I was left with nothing but my dog. As I was weeping in sorrow and my son said it is time for an episode of your some laughter and I watched her with joy!! Bless her.
Mrs. Bucket....... Oops I mean Bouquet(but spelled Bucket). Now she's important and she has something to brag about during one of her candle light suppers
I'm probably gonna cry when she passes.. I remember watching Keeping Up Appearances with my mom and laughing a lot back in the 90's. I'm 34 now and my mom just passed away from breast cancer in November. We had just started re-watching Keeping Up Appearances when her condition suddenly got worse and she had to go to the hospital. She didn't like being at the hospital ( especially during Covid because there was barely any visitors allowed ) but when I saw her I'd keep telling her "we have a lot of Keeping Up Appearances episodes to watch when you come home". Unfortunately she became confused in the end and stopped eating and eventually passed. So Dame Patricia will always have a special place in my heart.
Unfortunately I dont know her career too much, only Keeping Up Appearance, which is on in Finnish TV every summer. Nevertheless, I love her work in that.
"English as English should be spoken". Isn't this glorious? Don't you just love this amazing, erudite woman.? I've been watching various video clips in recent days - hyacinth, monologues, interviews - so I assume youtube has "thrown" this in my direction? Dame Patricia is delightful, so delightful.
Positively astounding Lady Patricia, icon, nimble logophile, exquisite wordsmith nonpareil, global treasure & we all the better for it. Brava 🥂💐 bellisima Mme Routledge xx!
A British Dame quoting an American Poet. Yes, Mrs. Bucket should have appeared but Dame Patricia showed us more - she showed us true class, thought and intellect. She gave us wisdom only age can give. Thank you for taking a risk and letting us enjoy it along with you.
May God richly bless this endearing classy lady of character. Always reminded me of my grandmother. The world is so much better because she's been in it. Thank you Same Patricia for a life well lived.
Yes! One of the most helpful graduation addresses I have heard. She is so wonderful in so many ways. I miss new work from her and am so blessed hearing this.
