I was there and the silence was so loud and respectfully once the audience stopped booing and understood. A moment I'll never forget and gave me goosebumps.
All of his own songs are pure emotion. I’ve been to hundreds of concerts in my lifetime, but the one time I saw him live is by far the best show I’ve ever seen. I’m looking forward to seeing him live later this year and hopefully again next year.
Days later, I still feel so affected by her passing. Damien Rice's music holds a special place in my heart so to see/ hear him sing this in an on the fly tribute, so raw and yet honest is just kind of a gut punch in the stomach full of emotions about life, getting older, loss, love and dreams. He should definitely record this song. His voice is so epic too just like Sinead's was (but his in a different way). RIP dear Sinead. I hope you knew how loved you were/ are.

This is a very heartfelt tribute. I love how he was immediately compelled to tribute her, even if he only sort of knew the song. This is a great cover because of that emotion. I've been listening to her music since I read that she died. Maybe Sinéad didn't write Nothing Compares, but judging by the rest of her music she definitely could have. She was brilliant.
This was clearly an emotional blow for him and while he was trying to process it on stage, idiots in the audience are trying to push him along by calling out the name of the song they want. They should have been grateful that he shared something special with them.

Even if you aren't a Damien Rice fan this slaps hard. A moment that was so natural and organic. Whilst not perfect musically the moment was perfect and perfectly done by Damien. Rest in Peace Sinead.
I absolutely hate those people in the audience who whoop and cheer while Damien is mourning a fellow Irish singer and musician. Some people never know when to shut up. I recall being at a concert in London where Damien offered to refund the ticket cost and pay the tube fare of people who would not shut up as they were drinking at the bar while he was on stage. The crowd turned and booed these stupid drunk individuals and I will never forget the silence that followed as we listened to Damien singing. When you go to a show by all means enjoy yourself but not at the expense of everyone else and especially not to distract the artist you came to hear with your stupid whooping noises. Damien was genuinely moved to learn live on stage that Sinead had passed, perhaps a friend but certainly a fellow troubadour. Rest in peace Sinead, peace that surpasses all your troubled life.
Here, here! Sadly people today are too selfish, entitled and self absorbed and think only of how they themselves are feeling. It would have been far more respectful to Sinead's memory if they'd managed to remain silent throughout and allowed Damien the time and space to absorb what he'd just discovered about the passing of his fellow musician. Have you never been to an Irish wake? Part of grief is to let your emotions out and there is no shame and no wrong in screaming to the heavens nor whooping in the joyous remembrance of someone who gave us so much. Try not to see it as disrespect, hear it as spontaneous love for such an amazingly brave woman gone too soon. Now if those fucks at Saturday Nite Live do a tribute, that's a reason for anger.

Very disrespectful crowd. Constant talking and shouting at him like he’s a dancing monkey. EVERYONE is there, not just you, have some consideration, keep your mouth closed and enjoy the gig.
This song actually fits his voice very well. However, I would think a songwriter of his talent and experience would figure out this song is written in a typical I V VI IV chord progression (C G Am F since he played it at C major) pretty fast (I think he played Em instead of G and kept playing Am instead of switching to F for most of the song). There is also a chord change right before and during the chorus with a different chord progression but ok that's tougher to figure out on the fly. He still sang it well for a song he is not very familiar with but this is such an easy and well-known chord progression in rock music that it is quite surprising he couldn't figure it out sooner.
