Star Saber is such a Gundam E: I actually didn't know he was designed by the Gundam guy until Thew said it

Gotta say, I'm glad that you've finally "arrived", and Hasbro is sending you all these things, because A. I've never been one to be mad when a smalltime RU-vidr I follow and enjoy makes it big and starts getting professional recognition, and B. This way I can watch the best TF guy on RU-vid cover this stuff so I don't have to watch any of the other guys who get stuff sent to them. So, congratulations and I'm here for it!! WOO!

Victory Leo is canonically God Ginrai (powermaster Optimus that is not optimus in the Japanese continuity) rebuilt after a heroic sacrifice. which is as confusing as the Japanese continuity gets.

So fun fact, the G1 Hasbro versions of Stakeout and Red Hot were completely identical to the G1 Takara versions of Fire and Holi, which is why they look so similar. But Holi and Fire here have more anime-accurate colors.

That surprise Strong Bad quote ("Japanese cartoons are weird, man") was so spot-on and caught me totally off guard lol

As a Gundam fan I am so jealous and happy for my Transformer brethren; HasLab is *actually* killing it and Gundam's 50th anniversary still leaves a bitter taste in my mouth. That is a BEAUTIFUL display and unboxing!

Hasbro low-key needs more love for how it supports RU-vid creators like Thew, and not just toxically positive sycophants (same with Nerf RU-vid! They send blasters to some pretty harsh critics). Good on them.

This is freaking incredible. It feels like a Megazord but with the extra articulation you'd expect from Hasbro.

I agree with you on the Micromasters. They didn't need fiddly ball joints and extranaeous gimmicks. They just needed to be simple and solid!

One thing I love about Victory Saber is that he has his own huge combined robot mode, but he also has a huge combined vehicle mode. The only other bots I can think of that do that are Armada Optimus with Overload & Jetfire, the original Power Rangers Megazord, and the Power Rangers Time Force Megazord. If there are more please let me know, I live for this.

Okay clicking on this video was a MISTAKE lol, because I've been eagerly waiting for mine to ship for a good couple weeks now. But I'm leaving for "vacation" across the country in 2 days, and I'll be gone for a whole freaking month! I'm SO bitter that I didn't get mine in time. I also backed Deathsaurus because I've wanted a new Robot Space Chicken figure since they announced Star Saber. I've never been a *huge* fan of the Victory TV season but I absolutely love me some 80s anime mech designs and that show's cast is full of them.

Hey Thew. If you didnt find out by now, the sword blade can actually fit in a little slot on the leg right blade first right before you connect the legs and arms of Star Saber when converting to Spaceship mode

Having Unicron watch over 30mins of Thew gushing about another (cheaper) Haslab product is just funniest thing to me!

Really wish I backed this one. It’s so over the top it’s awesome. I hope hasbro goes back and does another run of the haslab stuff, even if it’s a case of made to order and comes with a slightly premium price tag

You were spot on, it was Scout class, then Legends/Core. And it's funny how small the components are, seeing as with the Masterpiece version, Saber's on par with the MP Autobot Cars (so Voyager sized, basically, which seems fitting all around) and the Brain of Courage is STILL tiny...maybe smaller than this one. Ahhh, so THAT'S why they went with a separate stand instead of doing what Takara did with ol' MP24 (the center of the shield is a separate swappable part that can swap out for the flight stand piece). This one actually incorporates the shield in the V-Star and the combined jet mode. It's Takara's move...we need that proper MP Victory Leo (with another MP24 Starsaber reissue) and Deathsaurus now...yesss.

This has got to be the most positive review I've seen for Haslab Victory Saber. Every other review I've watched and read has always had a overall negative aura surrounding it which bummed me out, making me anxious about the set currently on its way to me. After watching Thew have a blast with it, though, I'm feeling much better about mine.

I must say, I'm pretty jealous of all the stuff you just get for free. I mean, don't get me wrong, I love the reviews, I've been watching you forever, but MAN, lol. A fucking Haslab Victory Saber just shows up on your door step, and the only thing you need to do for them is talk about it. lol what a treat

Thew! I'm like 90% sure you van store the blade in the big guy's lower leg! There's like a slot there where it can go and a corresponding one in his lower arm so the blade can stay there for shuttle mode, so you CAN actually have everyone in one big package of love!

he is a great figure, the instructions are certainly a monster, I didn't bother with the base mode either. Blink and you miss it one tiny part of the instructions shows that the sword blade stores in star sabers lower legs

honestly, this thing always looked super naff in product photos, but seeing you mess around with the toy on camera, it looks WAY nicer than the Masterpiece. honestly, I'm not sure which between this and the Planet X Kadmos/Nemeios pair I like more...especially considering they'll be about the same price on Ebay because that's just how things are these days...

I noticed that there seemed to be some pretty similar elements between some of the Japanese-original G1 series and the subsequent Brave series, most especially in Masterforce and Victory. The first thing I notice has to be the lending of more credence to combiners - Japanese-fiction-original combiners tend to not be weighed down by the conflict of their constituents like American-fiction-original ones, and then there's the Brave series where almost every bot that got a toy could combine or do something similar. There's the sorta similar way that most of the Brave series shows went about the mid-late-season upgrades in similar ways to either Masterforce or Victory depending on which one it was.

Victory was actually what got me back into Transformers (after Animated and Beast Wars), so this is a dream come true for me.

It's perfectly okay to get Victory Leo mixed up with Leo Prime/Lio Convoy. Victory Leo was rebuilt from God Ginrai, who is Power Master Optimus Prime in some media and toys... essentially making them the same character. So I can forgive any lapses on decorum on that. Lol

Got the notification my Victory Saber had shipped right after I watched this video!

I do regret not backing this, but give Hasbro some time and before you know it, they might re-issue the original Wing Saber for the first time in the U.S. market. 🤞

IMHO I'm still kinda blown away Hasbro figured out the perfect level of looks good but not too complicated to fight back against third party stuff.

Mine also came in today and the slip cover also stayed with the box when I took them out. I was conflicted when I was ordering him since my only personal exposure to him was idw but then I realized it’s all made up and it can be whatever I want and it’s a rad bunch of robots and I couldn’t be happier

You know Star Saber is like Ultra Magnus when he has an Inner Robot Mode just like the City Commander (which is why i'm very upset when the studio series 86 ultra magnus does have his "white, red eyed optimus" robot mode anymore just because they are never showned in transformers the movie)

I am regretting not backing this more and more as well as the GI Joe Jet hopefully snag them on after market in a few years.

Wouldn't it be cool if you had Star Saber holding the STAR SABER accessory that comes with Armada Starscream so that he would be wielding himself, hahahaha! Would like to see a photo of that!!!! XD But man, loved that you're being recognized by Hasbro and getting all that stuff, you've been one of my go-to's when it comes to Transformers reviews, keep toy grinding Thew!!!!
