i have seen so many grump moments that are completely new to me thanks to these comps, and the fact that multiple hour compilations of them have been pumped out like three times weekly is crazy. love this channel
These are the only comps where I'm enthralled the whole time, instead of using them as background noise!! Love how interesting & exciting you make them!
Dan mentioned something during the Ghostbusters playthrough, about how when he played it as a kid, he probably thought it was the most amazing thing ever.... And I totally get that. It's one thing I like about Dan. He doesn't give a shit what a game looks like. He's in it for the fun times. I'm the same way. A game doesn't need to be the best looking and most realistic game to have ever been made, to still be fun. Games are more than just graphics. There's a reason text-based games were a huge thing for a while. And tabletop games and card games are so big. Games are a bunch of things, including personal stuff with each player. Sure, a 13 year old in 2023 might look at an old NES or Game Boy game, or even Amiga or Atari 2600 game, and laugh. But as someone that grew up in that era of gaming, games are a LOT more than just graphics. Story, setting, lore, script, animations, acting, atmosphere, gameplay, controls, the sound itself.... a game is a LOT of stuff. It's also nostalgia, and personal feelings. I can play old NES games and stuff now, in 2023, and still get just as lost in it as I could as a kid, because I get that same feeling and stuff. And when I look back on those games, my mind pictures some amazing hyper realistic high detailed grandiose image, when in reality, it's a handful of weirdly saturated colored squares. Some newer examples for me would be the Fallouts and Elder Scrolls games, where I can get lost wandering around for hours, just doing whatever I bump into, and collecting random loot. And when I imagine those, same thing. I imagine them way better than they actually are, because I'm simply having too much fun to care, when I'm actually playing.
Keep doin what you're doin, man. Your last one was so good, I actually went out of my way to come back and finish it. I love that you are taking such a unique, almost creative approach to making these compilations; the titles are always so good. I prefer your comps over anyone else's right now because you show more than just the "best" moments that everyone else does - you just provide a unique assortment of Grumpy content, much of which I havent seen at all or in a long time. It's like watching those "full series" videos, but with multiple series in the same video, and the variety makes it more enjoyable IMO.
Trying to be very selective of what goes together so a lot of it is very intentional. But yeah I think there’s so many episodes where sure a really funny moment happened but there’s usually good buildup to that moment or the whole of the episode is far better than just the one big moment. I also like the breaking up of clips because different episodes bring different pacing and changes in tone. Glad you like these and thanks for the kind words!
i really enjoy the variety too because it seems like all the other compilations just repeat the same iconic moments i’ve already seen hundreds of times
@@GoofGrumpin One of my favorite comps from the Jontron era was called "2nd best moments compilation", because every other compilation was the "best moments" and had many of the same clips, so they specifically went out of their way to include moments that were still really good, but didnt get the attention the other ones received. I always thought "2nd best moments" was a perfectly appropriate title for it. Anyway, this reminds me of that. And yes, I realized watching this one that what I like about breaking it up is it gives me something to constantly look forward to....like each cliff ends on a cliffhanger. It's like when a chapter ends in a book and you're like "well shit, now I gotta keep watching so I can see what happened after that" but you gotta watch the other stuff in between. :P
My best example of all this is how like, one of the best known episodes of Sonic 06 is Episode 20, "WHAT IS THIS?" , and probably Episode 12, "Going Uphill Fast. But episodes 13 and 34 are personally my two favorite episodes of that series....they don't have any peaks as high as the other two or moments anywhere near as iconic, but they're just SOOOO consistent, from beginning to end. Grumps at the absolute top of their game....basically what I would consider "perfect episodes". Not a moment or breath wasted, like the best-written Simpsons episodes.
I’ve watched a longplay and it’s entirely unintuitive how you beat him. Like I completely understand how they struggled. But also I very much enjoyed the struggles lol
I really love watching game grumps comps. I always find really fun playthroughs that I've missed in the past. The Tetris game in this compilation is my favorite part. God, I can't believe I've been missing out on that.
Arin: Get off your phone! Dan: I'm setting a timer! Arin: For what?! Dan: To see... how much you suck Arin: .. w.. What? What do the results... mean? Dan: Like to see how long you last
You know the funny thing? They hate the first boss of XCalibur.... I actually beat him within 5 minutes. XD He's annoying, sure, but if you block like crazy and stay close, you eventually get gaps to attack him in (and yes he blocks attacks, but sometimes he doesn't). Sorry, Arin, but you did make it harder for yourself by going on the offensive too often. :P
