@@garrettehedrick6543 Bears have fired coaches before their contract expired. I think Poles is smart enough to save his own job if it's clear the Flus is going to get him fired.
Give him room to grow? This ain't his first season as head coach man, how many seasons of bad results does he get to have before he faces losing his job then?
Bernstein is right the players will respect Eberfluss more if he is accountable with them and accountable publicly. Acting ignorant when speaking to the media pretending that no coaching mistakes were made divides a locker room. The players see you as a weasel.
Eberflus was hired to be the Head Coach not Defensive Coordinator. Since last year he hasn’t developed/progressed as a HC and it doesn’t appear that he’s capable of doing that.
I've been a Bears fan since I was 8 years old in '85 and live in northern IL. I watched football my whole life. I played football. So I might know something. Eberfuss is a really good DC. He's not a very good HC. It would have been ok to "kindly" let him go. It's clear they need to right now. If we would have won that Washington game and got to the Green Bay game 7-2 then with 8 games left we just need 3 wins to make bracket. Now if we get to that game 6-3 we need 4 wins out of 8...all winning teams. We don't win on the road and we don't beat winning teams. If we finish the season with Eberfuss and let him go at the end of the season it will dent Williams development. Fire him now and offer Gruden or Belichick for 15 million a year to take over! 😂 Lol who am I kidding. The McCaskey's are too cheap to hire a coach for half that! And so we have it... With Chicago it always goes back to the McCaskey's. They're always on a management budget. Cheap coaches = failure. Look at the coaches that have Superbowls and winning records and how much they make. Then look at what Eberflus makes.
Thank you, Dan. A spot-on critique of the coach. Don't listen to those two "new agers" sitting next to you. As you say, it's all about accountability, you don't have that without consequences. The public deserves to know what those are. While the players may play FOR themselves and the team, let's remember that the NFL exists BECAUSE of us, the public, our support, and our attendance -- It's our team too! Tell US coach, HOW you're holding the players and yourself accountable? What are the specific consequences for mistakes made last Sunday?
@@spaceghost8995 Albert Breer is one. Compared not calling a TO on Hail Mary play to Bill Bellicheck not calling a TO in Superbowl vs. Seahawks right before the interception to end the game.
It sucks because I’ve had interactions with younger fans that led to me being called a bitter old fan. The truth is, I’ve seen this all before. And to your point the only thing that changes are the names.
Another cycle. Ugh. Once again, we draft a QB with a lame duck coach who will be on his way out. Then we fire the head coach in the QB's second year. Haven't we done this before. It's getting tiring.
Veteran WSCR (AM 670 Chicago) host Dan Bernstein is right (as usual), and I applaud his sincerity & his courage. In any case, Dan is far from the only local & national media person (or fan, or Bears player) floating the notion that the Bears are starting to look rudderless. The Hail Mary fiasco didn't happen by chance. If Matt Eberflus (14-27 career record) was going to be a successful, competent, respected NFL head coach, it would have happened by now. The real tragedy here is that even if the 2024 Bears finish 4-13, Eberflus won't lose his job until sometime in 2025, because Chicago ownership never fires head coaches mid-season. Just imagine what a 4-13 -- or even 7-10 -- season under a lame duck coach will do for player development (esp. Caleb Williams), and how it will impact the collective psyche of Bears fans. Chicago is heading into a stretch against teams that are currently 4-4 (AZ), 2-6 (NE), 6-2 (GB), 5-2 (MN), 6-1 (DET) and 4-4 (SF), then finishes with MN, DET, SEA (4-4) & GB. The Bears are about to find out if they are who fans thought they were.
Why do the Bears have to come public with any of this?? This Bernstein is just pissed because they don’t tell him! I wouldn’t give the Chicago media ANYTHING!!
So he was hired during a rebuild, his record has improved every year, he has a winning record now with a rookie QB and new coordinators. If you were fired with improvement like that you’d be crying
It never should have come down to the HAIL Mary. If Eberflus would have boxed in the sidelines there never would have been a Hail Mary with 2 seconds left. If we would have rushed more than 2 lineman and a Linebacker the outcome would have been different. Daniel's had all the time in the world to throw that pass with as much distance and precision as he did. Eberflus played to not lose instead of playing to win.
The risk w keeping this coaching staff in place after this disappointing season is over is that Willams development as a potentially great qb is destroyed. There is zero chance this staff is kept after the season is over.
I agree! How can you constantly demand accountability and not be accountable yourself! C'mon Flus! Just admit you made some mistakes and not make them again! 🐻⬇️
Personally, I'm done with Flus. The Commanders game pushed me over the top. He's totally clueless as a HC. To the point players are forced to act on his behalf with in-game strategy and decisions. (Watch the latest Caleb Williams interview).
The Bears could easily be 6 and 1. There's too much talent on this team to waste it with inadequate coaches. Recall the 90s Bulls change in coaches that allowed their talent to win championships.
Just because the coach doesn't give you details or says what you want to hear doesn't mean that behind closed doors, he is not saying something different. This is a lot of overreaction. I don't care what he says. I just care what happens on Sundays.
I'd love to hold Dan accountable for his countless horrible takes and his pompous aire of superiority. I want Bernstein gone as much as I do Eberflus. Dan is the epitome of what is wrong with our media coverage. He must go!!!
Same setup as 2022 and 2023 but with much better WRs. Inept HC blows games with bad decisions and not having the team ready to play. OC calls plays that make you yell "WTF?" at your TV. O Line lets guys blow past them like a lone Security Guard at Walmart on Black Friday. GM making questionable picks and trades while acting smug as if he has actually won something. All that happened was the Bears and lots of Bear fans throw the QB under the bus and we now have business as usual. Still think all of that crap from the last two years was just "excuses"?
Calling players stupid when you’ve never touched a pair of pads a day in your life is laughable. These journalist don’t have an athletic bone in their body
He’s talking empty has cracked me up one week. Everybody’s awesome the next week everybody’s terrible and should be fired the next week everybody will be awesome the next week after that, everybody should be fired. Shut up. We fans at least the smart ones are fed up with your whining and crying you sound like Steelers fans
I would laugh my ass off if these guys have a deep playoff run. Hearing all you guys f****** turning your story around, we believed all along. Sure, 😂. Mid season game acting like ya just blew the super bowl. Caleb in the meantime led a comeback only for the defense to crap on it. Get over it, you're embarrassing to be associated with.
