They just didn't make adjustments on offense and were shut down on almost every play. If they can't get swift going, then there is no offense. The passing game opens up when swift is making plays.
It looked to me like Washington made an effort to eliminate the Bears screen game and Waldron was slow to adjust. Caleb had a great 4th quarter with the game on the line. This is very encouraging for his and the team's future.
I’ve never seen anything like it. I watch Jayden take his drop and hit a wide open guy on his first read, like tying a shoe. When can the Bears OC ever just scheme plays like that
It’s because Daniels knows how to read NFL defenses whereas Caleb can’t. He takes too long going through progressions and misses open targets frequently.
@@thabruhfrom9444this is ridiculously false. Caleb goes through full field progressions. Jayden has a LOT of half field first read passes. It's not because he's reading the field. It's because the scheme has someone free almost every play and that's the read
@@thabruhfrom9444 reading defenses is one of caleb's strengths. jayden daniels is 5th highest in the nfl at throwing to his first read. daniel jones is first. caleb is top 5 in not going to his first read and going through progressions. patrick mahomes is first in that. you can literally see him going through his progressions every game too assuming you have eyes.
Why are ppl afraid to say Caleb sucked! As a blk man and DC homie, I appreciate it, but truth is, we was below average for 90% of the game. Gotta call it what it is.
no i agree he sucked first 3 quarters I think the whole offense regressed back to week 1, now was it the buy, the coaching, taking this team lightly, who knows but they regressed for sure.
Kurt saw what I saw. Thank you Kurt Warner, for being objective. The meida will be the media. They love to over play everything and don't educate us on the game. I like watching the tape and the tape analyses. They're always so much more informative that these talk shows.
Same. I like watching Kurt Warner, Chase Daniels, and QB School to see what they think of the concepts and execution. There's some overlap, but all the QBs see something a little different. Watching all of them helps me learn more about how NFL offenses operate.
Caleb and Jayden are both rookies. The little mistakes from both of them will disappear in time. The future is bright for both young men and I look forward to watching them compete for years to come.
When analyzing Jaylen Daniels v Caleb Williams, you have to compare the pressure each is under. Caleb was under near constant pressure. Daniels, not so much.
I like Kurt, but I don’t agree that Caleb didn’t have a lot of chances. Caleb didn’t read Kmet open at least 3 targets, and missed (inaccurate) 4-5 other open targets. Kurt is being kind to Caleb honestly. Caleb needs to continue to calm his footwork in the pocket, improve his speed through his progressions, and keep his eyes downfield longer. He’s still a bit quick to react to pocket pressure to go mobile. He can make this adjustment with more game reps.
All this talk about trading for Garrett or Crosby - NO. Spend 80% of your draft picks on OL. Shelton is not a legit NFL C, Teven can’t stay healthy, Pryor (who I like) has been on like 4 teams, and Braxton is a perfect swing tackle….not a starting LT. Fix. The. OL. Then? How about an OC who doesn’t get cute with a handoff to a backup C, late in the 4th, in a one score game. “Let’s go ahead and give him his first carry here.” Insane.
The throws “behind Moore” and “behind odunze” look behind at face value, but the receivers need to throttle down and not run into being covered. Maybe they aren’t taught to do that but both of those throws Caleb threw it to an open zone and the receivers kept running into an area where they were either stacked with the underneath route (for odunze) or for Moore made it a much more difficult throw because he ran and made it a much tougher angle throw as opposed to a settling in an open zone
😂 anything to coverup for an over hyped QB. They all want to blame the coaches for not coaching They all set in the same film room, they all understand how and when to adjust to coverage But when CW isn’t running the same play as the wide outs either it’s on him in the huddle or them not knowing the terminology/play called. You see it on the film, guys looking/trying to go in motion pre-snap. Just like the fumble- that was most likely wrong personal and CW didn’t know that and tried to handoff the ball to a O-lineman on a dive play.
Arizona is a must win game. A loss means the season is over. Arizona is a playoff race team we have to beat and it’s just a must win. As a bears fan tho idk what we expect, the bears have been a disappointment every year so should we expect any different
I said it after the win in London. There was WAY too much celebrating after beating a 1 win team. Everyone was drinking the Kool-aid. You play like you practice and obviously the week of the Commanders game. They didn't practice well, and their entire preparation was poor, and it showed during the game. That game was lost on multiple plays. Not just the last play. The last play was just the result of a poorly played game. You can't get shut out for 3 quarters. You need to score and not waste a great defensive effort.
I’m a Commanders fan and I noticed that too against the Jaguars. And admittedly I was cussing at the TV when he was celebrating after taking the lead. After watching Hard Knocks, it looks to me like Caleb’s biggest opponent is going to be himself. He gets too high and too low. He only played good for a few minutes in that game and he was acting like he won the Super Bowl on the sideline. I was surprised they didn’t Gatorade bath the coach during the Hail Mary.
@@joaquinfernandez9067 did you guys not watch the game? he was overthrowing everybody or completely missing guys. or just identifying a primary target and looking one way the entire time. Caleb holds the ball too long and dont make quick decisions.
@RoBDeeZL42 I don’t know what game you watched. There weren’t many open receivers and even less time to move through progressions. So you’re saying you’re right and the Hall of Fame Super Bowl-winning MVP quarterback and analyst is wrong? Okay 😂
@ so you really mean to tell me that noah igbeami and st juste and mike sanistril and bobby wagner were LOCKING up dj moore, keenan allen and odunze?? They all of a sudden arent elite route runners lmao
Bottom line our offense is predictable and Shane is not calling plays with a plan because he doesn't have a plan but teams plan for us and capitalize off our weaknesses get it together bear down
Here are some honest and objective thoughts from a longtime fan. I was at that game and our whole section knew which plays were going to be called 75% of the time. Our offense isn't creative and it takes too long to get into the groove. It’s like the playcallers watch film but they don't watch football. Have you seen Russell Wilson? They roll him out of the pocket to create space and mismatches. And it works. Caleb can't throw the deep ball accurately, so he needs to find these mismatches. Washington’s offense is fun to watch because they're calling professional plays. Children playing Madden would be better playmakers. Love my Bears but please get rid of the Pee Wee offensive schemes. You have weapons. Get them involved, early and often. 🐻⬇️
An underreported issue is the overall effort by certain folks on the offense. Besides Kmet and Odunze, there's a lot of loafing out there. Watch each play where a receiver is not the target of the play, and they run a half-ass route and then just kind of stand around and watch til the whistle. Even when Caleb is scrambling , or when Swift is breaking a little run off, there's too many times I'm seeing dudes just kind of standing around out there, not working, not blocking, just watching. Seen it in every game this season. I love DJ, but he's definitely a culprit. Rome and Kmet are the only ones who flash on tape as always working, whether or not the ball is going to them. You heard it here first.
They’re not gonna call a hold on a final play of the game Hail Mary pass that has a less than 3 percent chance of coming through. Defend the play period. How bout you rush 5 defenders instead of having a meaningless qb spy on a qb 60 yards away from the goaline. They were too busy talking smack to the fans 😂 the holding excuses are loser talk, defend the play
The refs missed a block in the back on Swift's TD, and took away 2 TD's from the Commanders on bullshit penalties....point is the refs miss calls and make bad calls every game, no excuses bc it's the league unfortunately
Losing 2 offensive linemen didn't help Caleb, but that kid marched us down the field twice in the 4th to take the lead. Flus needs to be better, plain and fuckin simple
@@bh-zj4yt thanks! Yes that’s his name. But the key word “not a very good one” they should’ve move Sweat on top of him and feasted all day. I honestly believe you all have a good team. It’s the coaching. You swap Commanders and Bears coaching staff you all blow us out.
@@brandondillman5841 ok, yea I said I was going to rewatch the game. I paid for that NFL+, well technically I forgot I subscribed last year and it snatched the yearly payment out my account. SMH . At the end of the day, your Bears will be fine. It’s just y’all Division is very strong.
We are closing in on Fields and Trubisky level of excuses for Caleb….you know, the QB coming into the best situation of all time for a first overall pick. 😂😂😂😂
Not quite - no one was saying he had a decent offensive line, and they are injured on top of that. He played great Q4 after a rough first 3. If you watch this, Warner, who knows his stuff, calls him impressive. He didn't have a great game, but the playcalling was worse, and the defense played really well.
What I find frustrating, is that the Bears have the talent; Or have the means to soon acquire it. It's the coaching situation that needs to be improved. The tandem of Shane Waldon and Eberflus, were Out Coached by Kingsbury and Dan Quinn. There is no reason for thee Bears receivers to have so little separation on most plays. That's scheme, play design and play calling. Lack of preparation to Play; After 2 weeks off?? The Offensive line has all veterans, Darnell Wright is the youngest lineman, and he's in his second year. Three of these linemen have played together for 2 years; All have NFL experience. Why can't they form a pocket and hold it for 3 seconds? That falls on the Offensive Line Coach, Chris Morgan. Until Poles gets the Balls to hold his coaches accountable; Firing and replacing them if necessary, we are Not getting to the Next Level. Which is deep playoff runs, and a shot at Superbowls.
CALEB NEEDS TO SCRAMBLE & PASS ON THE RUN LIKE HES BEEN GOOD AT ALL YEARS IN COLLEGE. Bears need to stop tryna have this dude be in the pocket EVERY PLAY ESPECIALLY WHEN WE GOT THAT WEAK A55 fvckin LINE
@@1011skarn must not know how football work guy. You cant PASS if you even aint got time to grab the ball from the snap before the whole defense in yo grill. Not how it work
Why are people not realizing that essentially the Bears held this prodigy to ~275 mostly empty yards, 12 points, no td’s, etc.. beyond the fluke Hail Mary? He couldn’t get anything done down the stretch with the game on the line whereas Caleb had 3 successful drives in the 4th leading to two td’s. Yes there is much to be improved but, I look for red zone success and game winning drives in the 4th when critiquing QB’s as major barometers for what they’re made of. Daniels is good, I just think people are intellectually lazy and don’t know how to do calculus so they stick to basic math.
B/c your "prodigy" qb was going up against a weaker defense and looked worse. JD hit some big throws and led several scoring drives throughout the game, even tho no tds
They didn't hold them to 12 points. Good lord, Washington had multiple TDs called back because of their own mistakes, or dropped balls, or linemen being upfield when they shouldn't have been. Bears did NOTHING against Washington and it's clear that the game should have at least 20+ points by half-time, and that wasn't because of this oh so great Bears defense. Scoreboard does not tell the entire picture.
@@ra1288 Through 3qtrs he struggled. He outplayed Jayden in the 4th. and the last time Caleb walked off the field he had the lead. I think both quarterbacks are really good. This should be a great rivalry for years to come.
I love when bears diss their own defense by saying “jd5 isn’t that good, he couldn’t score in the red zone” You’re literally stealing the thunder from your top 5 defense that came to play in the red zone. It was a challenge!
So let me get this straight. The Commanders did all of that in 3 quarters... Jayden did all of that- his Oline held up. And Caleb with a lethargic Oline in 1 quarters still was able to take the lead but Bears lose because of dumb coaching?
On the Hail Mary play the Commanders did everything right and the Bears did everything wrong. Do you give the Commanders any credit for executing the play the right way? When the defense makes mistakes, the offense often scores.
@@MadSUPANOVA Taking advantage of somebody's miscues is not luck. It's taking advantage of their weakness. Holding the ball for almost 13 sec. until his guys got into the right position, throwing the ball upwards as opposed to throwing it at a straight line. Having his receivers in front and behind the line to catch the batted ball are ways the Hail Mary play is design on offense. It was defended wrong by the defense but executed right by the offense.
The Commanders oline plays well not because they're talented individually, but because the play calls keep the defense off balance. You ever wonder why they run so many quick screens and RPO's? Because they're impossible to defend if executed correctly and it takes all the pressure off the oline. The oline still made some mental mistakes that had 2 of their TD's called back though.
You can do that on black Monday and still field all the exact same candidates as if you did it today. For Caleb and the team’s sake, they shouldn’t do it unless it gets really bad, like losing 6-7 in a row bad
Such a better QB that he they had 4 field goals in 4 quarters? What is true is that the commanders are better coached. That was confirmed when their back up played just as well as Daniel's last week..... Put Daniel's on this very predictable Bears offense and it would be the same thing. Caleb drove his team twice ! Down the field to score when it counted. I'll take that guy 10 out of 10. That Hail Mary should have been called dead there we were clearly holding by their offense line.
The bears are HORRIBLY coached on offense does not fall on Caleb the same way it shouldn’t have fallen completely on fields But let’s not forget through how bad the coaching is that the Caleb still has the same amount of 300 yard career passing games as Fields did in 3 years !! With competent coaching Williams is probably undefeated on the year and roty for sure we still had chances to beat indy and Houston despite not playing well on offense at all
My take is as much as the multiple glaring mistakes Bears made, still Washington only scored under 20, still took a God-given lucky bounce for the tip right into the hands to win AT HOME! I would not hang my head if I am the Bears, I would take Flus and the defense any day on my team! Our offense right now is easy to scheme a defense against : bad OL you can rush + need to use run game heavily + need to run screens + Caleb needs to work on his long balls. All these are relatively easy to put a defense geared to stop the run and screen and take gamble on the deep threat. That’s why you see they gambled a lot from their secondary, yet we did not throw one interception. Let’s calm down and we found a franchise QB! It was so great to feel that !
@@dokedoker3340 if you want to call that, you can call every play DJ More, Allen got mugged. Commanders CBs were not good enough to contain Bears WRs. But I will not keep arguing this cause at least half the plays you can argue subjectively, there were many little contacts on every play for both sides. If you want to call those, the game will be 3:0. Anyway, Commanders won and they are 6-2, Bears lost, that’s what counts. But I have more confidence in Bears to beat Commanders if they meet again. That’s just my rational Bears leaning/favoring view/take/hope as of now.
@@dime1012 my expectation for Bears this year is 9-8 or 8-9. So I am enjoying every win and loss. Next year is when Caleb will show how good he will be. At 4-3, I am not complaining at all. We have a lot less holes to fill than most teams, just need to get Caleb get used to NFL defense. Once that is done, the Bears will take off!!
@@dokedoker3340 I don’t listen to people that much, I use my own judgement. If I listen, there were 99% comments and takes on internet after the game were bashing how bad Bears were. I did not got caught up by one or two bad plays(Hail Mary & fumble) cause that’s what people want to hear and that’s what easier to convince after a heartbreaking loss. What my takes from the game are: Bears defense is really good, Caleb is a great QB, OL is really bad, play calling is still work in progress but not bad, coaching is average, offense as a whole starts too slow, defense starts slow too but that’s by design to see the opponents offense first and adjust. Commanders are good but still need to prove they can beat good teams like top 10 teams (they lost to Vikings and Ravens), their coaching staff is very good, their team talent is average to a little above average the best; QB is really good, defense is average but the coach can get the most out of the talent, offense is good, especially play calling. Overall, the coaching staff has gotten the players to play exceeding their talent. Let’s see how they play against Phillies and Cowboys
It's so interesting how arrogant laypeople are about analyzing QB play (cough 670Scorehosts cough). Warner threw cold water on almost all the knee-jerk 'analysis' that Caleb was just inexplicably "off target" and/or "nervous" by explaining that actually many of those throws could have been pick sixes had Caleb not thrown them away. I heard someone else say something similar, which is that WAS's gameplan was to jump all the routes, and Waldron seemed to have no answers for that. Caleb recognized a lot of these in time to avoid disaster. But sure, it's easier to just say "Look! He's off target!" Media narrative-makers are so quick to assume, and then try to prove their assumptions. Not saying Caleb played great, but viewing that from the lens of not knowing the read or the defensive adjustment is just emotional reaction based on an oversimplified viewpoint. Warner, JTO and and Tim Jenkins actually pull back the curtain. Having said this, Caleb still had a rough time.
There's a lot of immaturity and selfishness in the league. Like why are you arguing or taunting fans when the game was in orogrss still? Dude played a part in that loss because he wasnt in position. Immature and selfish toward your team because of lack of self control. I agree with Kurt and his statements on mentality of players abd and teams.
Naw I'm sorry Kurt know he on some BS, Caleb missed ALOT of throws on top of Washington getting pressure it's not solely one reason why he performed poorly
Bears fans, relax. Not every 1st round pick is an instant success. Look at Brock Purdy, the very last pick and yet, he was a fast developer. It also helps players to be in the right scheme offensively and defensively. Don't give up on Caleb, you'll regret it. Give him time and hopefully more suitable scheme. That said, HTTR, HTTC.
131 is a bad game win or lose period. Lions, Vikings and GB are better defenses than the Commanders. Good luck with that. Don’t they play 9ers and Falcons too??
Anybody can hit a wide-open person I don’t ever see him throw to the left or throw in the tight windows. All his receivers are usually open by about a yard and a half.
CW and the Bears had 2 weeks to prepare and got shut out for 3 quarters by a bottom tier defense. Meanwhile an injured QB that hadn't practiced all week, down to 3rd LT, trash secondary, one WR1 and some retreads, old ass Zach Ertz, old ass Bobby Wagner, no Jonathan Allen, several dropped passes, 2 TD's taken off the board, BS gift PI on 4th down on an uncatchable ball, all that and yet they still managed to win. The REDSKINS beat the Refs and the Bears. HTTR!!
Commanders clearly outplayed and dominated the bears the whole game. Bears should focus on that. Bears should have NEVER been in the game in the first place.
Yes,He wasn't good. But the rookie still drove the ball down Field for what would have been the game winning drive. Washington was saved by a Hail Mary! It's was a good final drive too. But, using this win to bash a winning Rookie QB who is having a fantastic season is kind of childish. Do better!
@@sevinbamuels6560Fantastic? Only by Bears standards, which are lower than low. Williams has only looked good against terrible terrible teams. He rallied late, but big deal. Had he not played so absolutely terribly the first 50ish minutes of the game, he wouldn't of needed to count on the Commanders D collapsing late. Williams might grow into a top 15 QB, but between his ego and being on the Bears, I doubt it.
If it wasn't for that Hail Mary Bears win. All these comments will be a mute Point...... Jayden had 0 touchdowns till a couple seconds of the game. Caleb drove his team twice down the field when it counted. Stop it ! This was a team loss if anything coaches need to apologize and be held accountable for not adjusting in time.
Jayden Daniels outplayed Caleb the whole game….stop acting like you didn’t watch the game Jayden through a TD to 14 that got called back, Caleb did not…. Jayden through a TD that Ertz caught but then failed to hold onto upon falling that was a TD to no fault of Jayden. Jayden also through another TD pass to MCaffery that he Just didn’t get both feet down but yk in college would’ve been a TD….should’ve would’ve but point is he did what a QB needed to do to score 3-4 TDs today, Caleb did Jack😂to try to construe this game that Caleb Player anywhere close to Jayden is just lying denying reality we had nearly 200 more yards of offense that you YOU STOP IT😂 TAKE THIS L YALL CHOSE THE WRONG QB😂😂😂
Jayden was a million times better than Caleb was yesterday against a better defense. The only reason he didn’t have multiple tds is because the refs helped the bears out and his receivers dropped passes. Caleb’s passes weren’t even close and he had scary accuracy issues nearly the entire game. Don’t compare how the two played like they were equal. Caleb didn’t save his performance with a few completions. He was horrible and there is no excuse for a professional quarterback to look like that. I know Caleb gets judged differently and gets the benefit of the doubt when the offense looks bad but you gotta stop grading on the “Caleb curve”. If Jayden or any other qb played like that he would get skewered.
I was told a good QB could overcome bad oline, coaching, etc crazy how the narrative changed now its all excuses lol. Caleb has never looked good vs good teams this is literally his big negative from college and doesn't look like it's changing especially not with this Eberflus and Waldron for the teams sake it better change
@@jeremyroberts3736 I was told he turned it around after his 5th game now its back to it being early excuse , when he just looked fine vs 3 of the worse teams in the league
Why did this team keep this garbage ass oline coach? Waldron pisses me off, but several times CW was running for his like or scrambling b4 he could get through reads
Anyone who understands the NFL knows that JD is the short term storyline from a team looking to win immediately. He might find a way to stay healthy and hopefully he will adapt to the pocket more and be elite. But they are focused more on winning than protecting that kid. But we have seen this story before from them. Guys like CW are what you want in the bigger picture. Give him time and an OL and let’s revisit the CW vs JD in 3 years. If JD holds up, he will be elite, maybe top tier and the better player. But Washington went all in to strike with JD immediately. We don’t have the coach or OL currently that will be here when CW meets his potential. And to still have a winning record in these times should show you everything.
Wishing a 23 yr old bad health is reflective of a terrible human being .. face it your team seems to have made the wrong pick ...I'm from DC I will root for Caleb whenever he not playing us I still like him
Nah. Daniels is super good but he won’t be in the league in couple years due to injuries with his skinny body and scrambling style. Dude is 7 games in and already banged up. Bears were looking for a 10-15 year starter with the #1 pick. Their chances are still higher with Caleb than with Jayden that they got that
@@dokedoker3340 i like a few things he does mechanically. He has some promise but seems to consistently underperform against above average competition , even back in college.Ihave to say the recieving corp.has been less than stellar (except #2 )
Love Caleb but... Because you had Bagent already and also on the cheap, that #1 pick could have been traded down for 3 or 4 decent offensive lineman, which is their primary need. All 3 loses were VERY close. Bagent plus a very good line would be 7-0 right now and could still have kept Brett Rypien as QB2...
