First, I like the traditional clothing guru Dan is wearing. Second, I have practiced a lot of Tai Jutsu and I was surprise the first time I saw Silat how much it had in common with traditional Tai-Jutsu. But Silat has a unique signature when it comes to its takedowns, like in 1:28 movement. Otherwise, they are very similar. I guess it is because they were developed in similar "warfare" context.
Dan Inosanto is one of the big gest frau dst ers in martial arts. His "as many arts as possible" (his words). Was designed to keep students coming in paying him money. Sc s ammer.
Well done and demonstrated by a master martial artist. In silat, key anatomic targets, including accupoints are emphasized as one progresses. If Serak Djuru forms are the ABCs, the Sambuts are like words and phrases while Sambutans are counter-for-counter sensitivity exercises. Sambuts and Djurus are to be applied in bits and pieces as dictated by your opponent(s) and situation. When Djurus are practiced on geometric foot patterns, Langkas, one appreciates angulation, center of body/gravity, and attack ranges.

This is some really cool stuff I have done Jeet kune do Kali and silat with Sifu Bruce mc culloch who spent many years in America being trained by dan inosanto who come to Australia every few years
It looks beautiful. You just never see this stuff performed live in a sparring situation. I have an automatic Silat sweeping response when I am in a certain position, but I never get there in a sparring situation, only while doing trapping training. I think for empty hand grappling and throws, wrestling, Judo and Jujitsu are the way to go. Boxing for hands, Silat and Fillipino arts for stick and knife and knees and elbows., Muy Thai, Savate for hands knees elbows legs. Silat and a lot of the Kali stuff is too preprogrammed for empty hand fighting.
If I had to guess the clap is the practice creating a frame in case you fuck up and get smacked in the face. Either that or just rehearsing getting into a guard stance.
these don't seem unrealistic as far as the mechanics. I wonder if they practice against a fully resisting opponent in this martial art, I am not familiar with it, but that would be the key imho

Haha actually Sera from Indonesian names Pak Sera from Banten province but Dan must be learn this from de thouars family. However his costum and his opponent costum are very interesting

This isn't Serak. This is a made up collection of made up techniques from Paul's brother Victor. It has no discernable relationship to Serak. Pendekar Paul's Serak and Bukti Negara did not emphasize locks as much. In the examples shown here, none of the platforms are being used, such as Tiga or Sliwa. It's just all completely made up from spending a short time training with his brother for the purpose of making money. It probably looks good to a beginner because the attacker falls down easily. However, many of the examples shown are 'heavy' and require a lot of muscle and force, which means they are not viable against a stronger person.
@@stanleykowalskyYou must be a student of Bill. Have you seen Bill ever do the same thing twice? It is immaterial whether the brothers got along. Who cares? And where is the controversy exactly? The bottom line is that this not Pendekar Paul's art. I don't mind being a nerd that knows the difference. Better than being delusional.
@@BigDaddy-vr9lwForgive my limited understanding, but I was told that it was a common practice by silat teachers to not do the same move the same way every time. If that is so, why is it of importance that this Bill person does not do the same thing twice?
I’d love to see this done with students sparring. Can anyone tell me why primary targets are never attacked ? Very cool silat system. Not readily available in UK.
this only for training, for muscle memory, thats why target never attacked. after you master it, than you take to the next level --> sparring training.... if you using locking or submission technique, the best training method is grappling sparring. or in Silat, it's called "Bergelut"
It is different between FMA and Silat. Beda dong silat ama FMA dari kostumnya saja sdh beda. Silat Sera is old one, either he learnt from Banten or from de thuars family

I'm still processing the fact that I saw Bruce Lee's former student Dan Inosanto, wearing a flowered skirt and a cook's scarf over his shoulders. I couldn't pay attention to the technique presented.😆
I viewed this video not for what he was about to demonstrate, but for the fact that he has a sarong on that inhibit his movement. Another guy that has 10 000 moves, but nothing in terms of real street fight experience nor even an amatuer sparring session. Mcdojo
This Art has been used for centuries and still is for self defense in the streets in Indonesia and is deadly.. striking the throat, knees, elbows to the face and head, and SLAMMING attackers down on their head or spine or face using full force and speed, into the concrete. So, please do your research or keep quiet and learn. And Inosanto grew up in the bad areas of Oakland California and had LOTS of street fights and was also a Ranger and paratrooper in the US Army 101st Airborne Division. So go away. You know nothing about the man and BS is what you speak.
None of this works? How about you go to The Inosanto Academy in Marina Del Rey, CA and fight with our students. You can beat everyone, right? Let's see you in action loud mouth before you disrespect a great man like Danny.
@@gagida1829 I studied with Danny. I know how it works in real life. Why don't you go to Inosanto Academy in Marina Del Rey, CA and fight with our students. Show them how it doesn't work. You coming? Or you can only flap your gums....
@@gagida1829 I've had my eyes open all my life. If you want to open yours maybe come to the studio and DO something instead of talking. Talk is cheap. Come and prove you're right. Isn't that reasonable?
@@mordi2537 it's Dan inasanto teaching it and he basically incorporates it into his jeet kun do teachings even though it's complete garbage and useless in a fight.
