@@DionPryor-sv1qj Range wise, its Dame & Steph, like who else has her range? And she's a chick, that's insane. Obvi she gets bodied if she goes to the NBA, but what she is good at, she's top tier. End of story. Court vision is also good. Needs to clean up the TO's tho.
great discussion.....I'd watch the women's tournament, and I echo the Wooden comment about fundamental basketball. Of course, I'm from Iowa, so......... Also would love a rematch with LSU, but kind dreading a rematch with South Carolina.....not sure Iowa can beat them again.
The only reason why college women’s basketball is getting more popularity has to do with NIL. I guarantee you without NIL, they would not get the recognition or respect.
@@nickbarcheck1019 not really, especially if you are a basketball junkie.. 10 years it ago, absolutely...I'm only talking about the college game though.
Universally respected among his peers, Dan as usual brings a broad perspective to the days’ events. Without Steph Curry, there is no Caitlin Clark - at least not the way we know her today. As many have said, most boys growing up know they’ll never dunk like Michael Jordan or Vince Carter. But they can get in the gym, and work on their shooting. And now thanks to the Steph-Caitlin combination, young girls will be working on their 3 point shot, as soon as they pick up a basketball. Ten years from now, the women’s game will look different…just as the NBA as we know it has been transformed.
If the women's game turns into a three point contest it's going to be horrible...I don't expect that to happen though...womens game is more about fundamentals and moving the ball than just trying to find a way get a three point shot...it's more about 'take what the defense gives you'...and that's what I love about it.
It's interesting that everyone thinks Caitlin shoots 30 or 40 shots per game. She's averaging about 20 over her career. I always enjoy your team's perspective Dan!
She's definitely not just out there chucking shots and playing by herself...she definitely balances her shots with her assists and finding teammates for easy buckets....I think she wants to win as much as she wants to put on a show and score a lot of points...she realizes that in order for her to truly get respect the team as whole has to do good as well.
She's phenomenal...bizarre that there's speculation the US women's Olympic team may not have a spot for her on their roster. If they don't, we ought to dissemble the US women's Olympic basketball program and start over.
Dan, Good points, especially about Steph Curry and Bo Jackson. She had to play with the Boys, when she was young - because No Girls program. So, she learned to “Shoot off the dribble” - Who did that? Curry, Jordan, Bird in some games … great influences.
As a former baller, fan of the game 💯. CC, along with SC, LSU, USC etc...Right now NCAAW fits the court and the rules of the game with excitement better than the NBA.
@@brettsteffeny juju lol. At the time I couldn't remember her name, but you're right Juju and CC look to do for the WNBA what Magic and Bird did for the NBA
I hope she stays in college next year and banks the NIL. Then moves on to an asst. coach position for a college team. The WNBA is a waste of her time and money.
@msumcj. Thanks to NIL, women’s sports have gotten more popular and more recognizable. That’s the one positive thing I can say about name, image and likeness.
Kelsey Plum broke Jackie Styles' record that was held for 17 years. I'm surprised you don't remember Jackie. She was the GOAT until Caitlin arrived. CC's record will hold for decades if not longer. Watch the Jackie Styles Story....
Facts, they kind of shit on the women’s tournament pretty much saying CC vs LSU or bust. Obviously Iowa will carry viewership if they make a run. I’d bet from the sweet 16 and on they will be watched more than any men’s game. But there are plenty of teams that will have the potential to bring more eyes to the women’s tourney than ever. 5 obvious pac teams, nd, uconn, ksu, sc, lsu, osu, ind, vt (might have missed some). All of these teams have either stars, made noise last year, or have awesome freshmen. Yea the men will probably have more viewership unless Iowa is playing but the margin will be closer than ever once the sweet 16 hits. They women’s tourney is missing the awe of a Cinderella bc the margin between top teams and bottom teams is larger but stars dynasties, and powerhouses have been proven to carry viewership anyway.
Huge fan of Caitlyn Clark! She’s awesome! I believe she will change the WNBA when she gets there moving forward…she will bring more eyeballs to the sport because she’s that good. 👍
They definitely can shoot....but they can also pass, dribble, finish at the basket...i watch a lot of highlights and im uiiing and awwing a few times per highlight....sometimes it can be sloppy and they miss easy layups but overall the games are fun and competetive.
Soth Carolina doesnt have a star 'that youve heard of'...if youre just a casual fan then of course you've never heard of anyone else beside Caitlin Clark.
The Womens tournament is not dependant on one person smh....their are so many great players and teams everwhere...this tournament will be loaded with great teams and players everywhere...the days of Uconn and Tennessee being the only game in town are over imo....no ones going to be a lock in this tournament, its going to be a fun ride...if you think its just one player then you havent been watching or paying attention.
All right here we go again. She doesn't take 30 shots a night Dan! Her actual average for the season is 19.9 shots per night so do your research and quit your mambaling about stuff that's not factual. By saying that she shoots 30 times a night you're diminishing her accomplishments. I hate that when commentators come on to their podcasts and say stuff without knowing what they're talking about. I'm going to start calling you Sheryl swoopes.
Clark is not the only storyline. The major women's storyline has always been (and hopefully will not be, again) the suspicious bracketing & seeding. LSU 33-2 = a 3 seed. Give me a break. No way the powers to be want Iowa anywhere near the final four again. No way. Watch them get the group of death regional.
Hope she stays at Iowa…make 7 figures,…there will be huge pushback in her future. Caucasian, heterosexual, Catholic in the WNBA….don’t wish that on any young lady…. Hope she has a great support staff around her.
As far as I'm concerned Women's Hoops has always been interesting but now it seems the male dominant sports world is finally catching up...kind of🤔 If you're teaching a young person how to play the game of Basketball, show them the womens game first and foremost. There fundamental skill discipline is top notch!
Well it hasn't. It only got interesting when a really good player arrived. Turns out, people just want to see good basketball played at a high level. And women's basketball has never produced that. But CC plays at a high level so people are interested. It's not that hard.
I agree, it's less about one on one and more about team ball...part of it is that women aren't as explosive as men so it's harder for them to go one on one...women can't stop on a dime like men neither can they elevate like men...still a great game and very fun to watch imo.
@@spencerclemens7555 The keyword is "entertaining".... many of really good women players in college... but you basically have a female version of steph curry
Gotta wonder how many fans Clark added do swopes stupid comments. I'm paying some attention now and I could care less about basketball, much less women's b ball.
exactly! uconn student here, there are sooooo many different story lines within the women’s game and i feel like the women’s tournament will be more interesting due to all of these star studded teams.
Ol Dem dan wishes Caitlin was a different color. IOWA guy here. Stopped listening to this bozo 3 years ago. And I'm better off. He's taking you Sheeple for a ride.
The definitive term is "women's college basketball " . She's a good woman player. But it's a pretty low bar. That being said, she should be drafted in the NBA. San Antonio spurs!
You're right Dan, she didn't need to take a logo three to beat the scoring record...in fact all of her deep threes are unnecessary...it's just part of the show for her because she can make those, but they really are unnecessary...those are the types of shots that can win you a game but can also lose you the game, especially if the game is tight....it's really a two-edged sword.
@@josephtripple2735 still not her problem. If the NCAA won't recognize its predecessors then all the records and statistics set in those organizations won't be recognized altogether regardless of gender and race, so quit using the "race card".
@@josephtripple2735 also why did the NCAA recognize Kelsey Mitchell's record (currently behind Clark and Plum) eventhough she is black? Plum surpassed her record back in 2017. That fact just destroyed your "race" argument.
It's probably because they didn't take women's sports seriously back in those days...I mean if it weren't for Clark they still would not take them seriously...even I would not have known how good the women's game is had it not been for Clark.
