Rockstar had that idea for GTA 4 but they couldn't do it at the time GTA 5 released in 2013 and was in development for 5 years and Vavra didn't even finish mafia 2 so how could he have a script for mafia 3 and if it was so good how that they didn't like it i think he is full of shit on that one like he said he failed 5 projects before doing KCD at GDC

Rockstar had this idea since San Andreas, but they couldn't execute it due to technical limitations. And in GTA IV the story of the 3 Liberty City protagonists intertwined.

The concept that he described was already done in Fahrenheit (also known as Indigo Prophecy). While it sounds pretty good in Mafia universe, it wasn't a new concept back in those days.

HOWEVER, I will always respect him as a genius in the game-making world and none of his politics will ever change that fact. I hope he makes more games post-KCD and I still have hope that he would someday return to the mafia genre.

@@neuzdost1939 I wouldn't call it a trash, the soundtrack is great and cutscenes look amazing, the rest isn't "the best", but it's not a 0/10 it's just average 5/10 mabe 4/10 if you're a long time fan, but yeah after Mafia 1 and 2 Mafia 3 was a BIG letdown. I gave it a chance again when the definitive edition came out and it still isn't impressive, but it isn't a "complete trash".

The story for 3 was really good the gameplay and repetitive stuff was really bad

@@glizzywrangler774 you were right tho, he's probably ego. But he make interesting scripts and the Mafia franchise won't exist without him. His storytelling for Mafia 1 is good, but the way they act is horrible so Hangar 13 wants to make the story better and much more realistic.

Vavra used to talk at length about miserable experiences he had pitching various projects to publishers before going independent. I can't recall exact source, though. Might have been one of the entries of the original WS blog from 2011-2012.

I wouldn’t even say decent I say amazing if you ask me the characters were great especially Lincoln as the main character and Sal Marcano as the antagonist but I do like dans idea as well I just person don’t think especially with the direction mafia 3 was going it would’ve worked for that game.

@John Williamson everything that the communists touches, it turns to shit. It has happen to pretty much every studio and game, with very few exceptions ( yet).

@John Williamson fax i think everyone thinks its really good because of great cutscenes, serious social themes and tone, and time period. but if you look beyond face value, the story is an incredibly predictable generic Hollywood revenge story (not helped by the fact they spoiled a lot in trailers) and is a punisher knock off with some social justice themes shoehorned in to make the game virtue signal. Not to mention its quite clear the devs at the time had their own idea for a game but needed to make it work in the Mafia universe which is why we have Vito shoehorned in as a former shell of himself. Vito is not Hangar 13's character and i would had loved to see what the true canon 2k czech team and Vavra who created Vito would had done with Vito and Joe's story then H13 who kinda butchered it and didn't give a satisfying ending for them. Edit: with Haden Blackman leaving Hangar 13 I have slightly more hope for Mafia IV. I was not a fan of his direction with the games and it was clear he wanted to make something else and hopefully he can now focus on those projects. I think he was much better at making star wars games (the force unleashed) and with EA’s star wars exclusive license finished he can go back to making them.

Mafia 3's story is terrible. Mafia1 was well written, great story and characters, Mafia 2 was close, and it was more fun, but Mafia 3 story and characters are so bad... and it's not even fun... Actually it's not even Mafia game.

Adam Cimrmann not all, that would be bad, when they spoiler whole point of game. That game was minimum 1-2y before in development so 2004-2005. And final game was 2010, but the whole story was much more earlier, or you think they did whole game, and after Vavra untold story of Mafia 3 they stole and redo whole story HR in few weeks? :D

Well his life worth of game is property of a corporation now and clearly they messed it up it could be his legacy but they robbed it from him so I can understand why he is so bitter yet he was downright awful to insult Jeremy Luke and talks like he was everything.
