One of my favourite Elvis tracks, I'm 71 now so grew up with Elvis.. This version by Dan makes me cry, his Father had just passed away, he was very close with his Father, he recorded this because it was his Father's favourite Elvis track too.. Dan is close to crying all the way through, and when the tears do fall at the end.. well as a Mom and grandmother I feel for him. There is a video of him expressing how his Fathers death actually made him put more into his singing and starting his career.. he is full of regret that his Father didn't live long enough to see him become what he is today.. Another great reaction, today I am listening and watching all 25 reactions you have done, not for the first time either.. God Bless you Bright

Elvis may have been widely known for rock 'n' roll but he actually started with gospel music. Good job. Hail Vasc-Nation ❤️🤘✝️

At the beginning, “For my beloved father Roberto” At the end, “Sleep with God Dad, See you soon”. This was a tribute to Dans father who passed 5 days prior.

Thanks for your great reactions to Dan's song. Just a note: he is performing this song just 5 days after his father passed away. Elvis was his Father's favorite, and this song in particular. If you will watch it again, notice how much difficulty he is having holding it together, yet he sings it beautifully. And, the tears are rolling out of his eyes as he ends it. Such a moving performance. Watch it again with this in mind. God bless you.

@@REACTSBYBRIGHT2 Yes. Sometimes Dan will do an intro at the beginning of his songs, but usually not. In this case, the intro was in his Description, where he wrote about his dad passing away. There's usually a LOT of interesting info in those Descriptions (especially since 2017, when YT started cracking down harder on copyright stuff), regarding who else (if anyone) helped out with the production. Also, sometimes, in his Descriptions, you'll find information about other songs that connect with the one he's presenting, that can lead to further searching down through the rabbit hole. He likes to leave little tidbits and hints, for those of us who happily tread those pathways. 😀 It also sounds like you may want to look up Elvis' original version of this, to see JUST how well, Dan has covered it. You'll have to look for the "orchestral version," which is what Dan used. Elvis sang it with the London Philharmonic Orchestra. If you look for that (you should find several of those older videos hanging around YT), you'll see just how VERY close Dan sings the song, in comparison to Elvis' own version. This is the version Dan's father liked, so that's where Dan went.

@REACTSBYBRIGHT2 , Elvis sang this at the end of his Las Vegas concerts, and it was very dramatic. There are videos of Elvis you will enjoy.

Knowing Dan is thinking about his dad as he tries to gain his composure, and seeing the tears in his eyes, gets me every time. My heart always breaks for him. Stunning performance.

This trilogy uses songs from the time of the American Civil War also known as the War Between the States which was between the Union ( the Northern states) and the Confederacy (the Southern states). The first song is “Dixie” (also a nickname for the South). This is a folk song. The “land of cotton “ refers to the main crop of the South at that time. The second song “Battle Hymn of the Republic “ was the marching song of the Union Army (the North). The last song is a Bahamian lullaby representing the African Americans. Dan’s dad had just died from cancer. The line “Hush little baby, don’t you cry. You know your daddy’s bound to die. All my trials, Lord, will soon be over.” must have been so hard for him to sing. His grief and tears make me cry every time I watch this. His cover of “Love Me Tender “ by Elvis Presley was recorded after this in a tribute to a dying man who also loved “An American Trilogy “. I would love to see your reaction to that song now that you know how meaningful the two songs are to Dan.

You should listen to this song again now that you know it was sung by Dan a few days after his father passed away. He was a big fan of Elvis and Dan did it in his memory, he did very well to hold it together and is crying at the end.

So heartfelt!!😥😥 He was extremely brave to sing this when he did as his father had passed away a few days prior. It's almost impossible to sing when you're emotionally upset. Enjoying your reactions, thank you 😘
