Dan reached his million subscribers a couple of days ago and so very well deserved. He is such a versatile and talented artist and has so many varieties of music that you can always find something to suit your mood. His heart and soul goes into all his performances and it’s always a pleasure to see and hear him sing. Many thanks for sharing your thoughts and look forward to seeing the next one. : )
This song is just beautiful. Although Dan prefers to sing metal, he can sing anything with perfection. His versatility is just amazing. Thanks for reacting to this one!
This is one of my favourite songs by Dan! Love the calmness of this song. I thank you for your reaction and suggest you check out his version of "The Last Goodbye". It's beautiful and very emotional. 😊
So proud of Dan on reaching 1M. He and his childhood friend Gabriel performed this song to perfection. It was his first outdoor filming away from his home studio and it just lent so much authenticity to the the song itself. His versatility and abilities never disappoint. You are so right about Dan being able to draw you into his magic.
Thanks so much!!! You should look up the history of that song. This is a ballad I have loved for years. A couple oaths ago I wad cleaning, and trying to remember the words.... an amazing thing happened... it started playing! DAN SINGING. I had only heard him do Amazing Grace. Some how, it found me!!! I didn't at that time even watch much yt. BUT NOW.... omg it's Dan every day.... never boaring, always amazed. And I have to hear AG every day!!! Thanks so much again. I liked and subscribed!!!
Thank you so much for playing this song! I'm from a Scottish family and the memories came flooding back of my late mother who used to sing this song to us when we were growing up. I hope Dan & Gabriel do more songs together their harmonies were awesome!
Dan & Gabriel made this song classy again. SO beautiful! Like another commenter stated, Dan truley is addicting. Thank you for your wonderful reaction!!
What a beautiful song sung by Dan and his good friend Gabriel. Both have also released "The Bard's Song" and "Lord of the Rings", also very excellent. Thank you very much for your very nice thoughts in the outro and for sharing.....
The Scottish rockband Runrig made this song a famous partyhit, but Dan and Gabriel sure caught the emotional quality and the true Scottish spirit. I'd wish they would rekindle that project.
Thanks for reacting to this one. Dan and Gabriel do such a great job on this. I have listened to it many, many times and will listen to it many more. . Even though it is about a soldier waiting for execution, it is so beautiful.
What a beautiful video from Dan and Gabriel! I saw Scotland and Loch Lomond in real life when I was in Scotland. The song has a background: According to a Celtic legend, if a Scot dies in a foreign country, his soul flies straight back to Scotland! There were two Scots prisoners in England, one was released the next day , and the other was to be executed. He said :"So you take the high road and I take the low road, and I'll be in Scotland bevor you ! Thank you for your reaction !😊
I never thought I would be listening to metal music at the age of 66. Then he came in! I didn't even think that after Bon Jovi there would be someone I could "support" for! Super talent given by God! I hope I can listen to it "live" one day! Dan Vasc's success reflects his hard work, dedication and passion for his craft. This boy is a true combination of talent, hard work and determination!!!! It will literally be the song you sing and pull you into your world. Then all of a sudden he kicked in RU-vid's door and everyone is talking about him!!! It has one million subscribers!!!
Thanks so much for watching and we really appreciate the support! Dan is definitely one of a kind and I can’t wait to continue to see where he goes in his music career!
As you saw at the end, Dan said that this was the first time they had ever recorded outdoors. I'm not sure, but I think it's the ONLY time...oh...except for "Pour Some Sugar on Me," (original by Def Leppard). One or both of you should really should react to Dan's version. It's quite precious, really, and funny. As for Loch Lomond (the lake, and its area), there's a good, easy-to-understand article about the geography and a bit of its own history (not people...just the land itself) if you search for "Loch Lomond" in the Wikipedia. As for the history of the song, it has the countryside itself encased in it, but the overriding theme is the situation that occurred in that setting, that is a very sorrowful tale (and there are more than a couple of tales in that regard). You can find out about some of THAT in the Wikipedia, as well. You were right in feeling the tension and the sorrow underlying the entire song. That makes it all the more clear that Dan and Gabriel definitely produced the correct "vibes." As you already know, music is my thing. The hardest thing I ever had to do, was get through a large number of years without being able to verbally produce the music that has always made its way into and then out of my soul. For me, that was basically not having FOOD. Those years were very, very, very hard, not just in the physical way that rheumatoid arthritis has of robbing a person, but in the ruination of a treasured part of my very life, from the time I was born, onward. So...yes...you have definitely captured, in your reaction, very much of the essence of the song. Great work, my friend! 😀 - - - - - - - - - - I just went to check to see if you HAD done "My Heart Will Go On" or "O Holy Night," and you have NOT! HEY! Get to them, boys! Seriously!!! 🤪🤗🤩😍🥰
I love this, and the other 2 Spyglass Inn songs. Thanks for playing this lovely traditional Scottish ballad, so beautifully sung by Dan and Gabriel. It's another instance of the harmonica standing in for bagpipes (as with Amazing Grace). I'm one of many people who hope that Dan and Gabriel might resurrect this acoustic project, now that Dan has reached his 1 million goal. (Yay!) I'm with you - I LOVE the harmony. By the way, there's another lovely video with Dan and Gabriel, just sitting on a couch and singing Eye of the Tiger with an acoustic guitar. It's the only casual video of his that I'm aware of. (They also do the song as a regular video - might be a nice double feature! )Thanks so much for returning again to the always surprising, always superlative, Dan Vasc.
There are others that have the same type of feel, even though they're not in the Spyglass Inn project playlist. One of them is, "I See Fire." It has the same type of poignancy as this one, for much of the same reasons. 😀
